I’m Not upset with the teacher. I don’t think it’s harmful or upsetting. If my daughter asks me what the word is, I’ll tell her it’s part of a woman’s body.

Is it bad the I think it's hilarious? I've never been one of those moms that took things real seriously. This is just funny

Thesaurus won't even search. Dictionary calls it a vulgar word with no definition. So - no way out of this one. The Wordscapes game app won't give you bonus credit for spelling it out as a word either. Um, I might have tried. While this is unfortunate, the spelling list ism't something I'd get all twisted over. I'd be too busy laughing as are some of our fellow peas. Poor teacher. She's got herself in quite a conundrum over this one. Class, can you spell conundrum?

It’s extra humorous if any of you actually knew this teacher... she is incredibly passionate and enthusiastic, experienced, and also a very wholesome Christian.

Obviously the teacher failed to read the curriculum that she printed.

Exposit caught my eye first. Why does a first grader need to know that word? Im pretty sure I have never heard anyone use it!

In addition to that jaw-dropper, she also has "spit" listed twice on the list. I think teacher needs a proofreader

Thesaurus won't even search. Dictionary calls it a vulgar word with no definition. So - no way out of this one. Vulgar? It's an abbreviation of a female body part.

Oh my goodness, that is just crazy that she didn’t see that. I don’t think that was teacher generated though, but she still should have read it. Is she a first year teacher? This is why you don’t ask children to rhyme certain words and you need to be careful with word families. Never ask a child to rhyme sit, witch, luck, etc. I taught first grade. This was the highlight of my year.

Exposit is the word I saw first too. All of the bonus words are challenging for most first graders!
That definitely is an interesting word for a first grader!

ashley - Just wondering if there was any follow up from the teacher regarding this word being on the spelling list. Surely someone pointed it out to her?
