I think I felt a very tiny lump (smaller than a pea) in my left breast this morning in the shower. I am not freaking out but kind of keeping it to myself (and all of you.) Don’t want to say anything to DH because he will panic and over react. I just had a mammogram in August and all was good.
Hmm. Next step? Check again to see if it is still there? Call my gyn on Monday? Call insurance to see if they will pay for another mammogram?
I’m on my way to do some errands so it will be a while before I can check back.
PS. I’m post menopausal if that makes a difference. Thanks y’all
Update 1:I went to the doctor on Monday. I saw the Nurse Practitioner. She didn’t really feel anything but since my DH and I did she ordered a mammogram and ultrasound. I had those today. The radiologist was not convinced the findings were “nothing” (my words not the doctors) and I am scheduled for a biopsy on Monday.
The interesting part part is that she found a second “suspicious” spot on ultrasound that couldn’t be felt and is actually doing two different types of biopsies on Monday.
Update 2: I had my biopsies this morning. It wasn’t that bad. I should have results in about 2 days. I am feeling optimistic which is really weird because I am a natural pessimist. But I’ll take my current attitude over what I could be feeling. Thank you for all your good thoughts and prayers.
Update 3: I got the results of the biopsies. The spot I felt was benign. The area the doctor found on ultrasound is cancer. She said it is early, inside the cell and didn’t break the membrane. Not what I was expecting. She was going to call my gyn and now I am waiting to find out what my next step will be.

I think the best would be to call your doctor on Monday. They can probably determine if you need to go for another mammogram. I found a lump once and my doctor was able to determine it was a skin cyst. Wishing you all the best!

How close are you to starting your period? I think I read somewhere not to check if it’s almost time to start because the tissue can change.
Def call your insurance and see what the coverage is for another mammogram. Make an appt to see your dr and get his/her opinion.
Hopefully it’s nothing! Thinking happy thoughts for you.

Most likely, they will do an ultrasound if they feel a lump on examination. Sending good thoughts and prayers to you. It is possible, even with a clear mammogram so recently. Good for you for checking. That is so important to find things quickly.

Good that you are on top of self exams and it's likely nothing, but do call your gyno for an appointment on Monday. If you need another mammo, I would think your insurance would cover it being that this would be considered diagnostic vs routine/preventative.

Call your Dr. most likely if they feel it’s needed they will send you for a diagnostic mammogram with ultrasound. If you just recently had a mammogram, they may just order an ultrasound. Insurance will cover it if it’s billed diagnostic, usually subject to a deductible depending on your plan and coverage. It won’t be billed as a screening mammogram. That’s how our radiology clinic does it.
I’m sending positive thoughts your way.

I also think you need to call your doctor. Hopefully it will be nothing to worry about, but better safe than sorry.

I would think it's most likely a cyst, but agree that a call to the doctor on Monday is the way to go. Even in the worst case scenario, you'll be on top of things early on. Try not to panic, just make sure you call on Monday - or if the service is available, call or book online now so that you don't forget but can relax for the next couple of days at least.

I would wait a few days/couple weeks to see if it goes away or changes before I went to the doctor. No need to overreact ... most breast lumps amount to nothing. signed, 20+ year survivor of aggressive breast cancer

80 percent of the time these are nothing. The odds are in your favor. I still would call my doctor on Monday, but mostly because I want to know things NOW and not wait and worry.

(((Hugs))) I know it's concerning to find a lump! I had one about 10 years ago- it was a sebaceous cyst and eventually went away on its own. I had my first mammogram, then an ultrasound so they could get a good look at it.
