I don't really do a lot on Facebook. I am very selective with who I friend, so I don't have a lot of friends...less than 40. Mostly family members. So last week I clicked on the friends request tab to see who had recently sent a friend request. I mostly ignore that tab...lol, but there were two new-to-me requests.
One was a request from my ex husbands sister.....the one I know does not like me very much...so I'm confused. I am friends with her grown children....but I never noticed a request from her before.
So I'm wondering how long the request has been there. I don't think I would have overlooked it for more than a year. (I got divorced a year ago in October). I can't believe she would have sent me the request recently though....I'm pretty sure she dislikes me even more now that we are divorced than she did when we were married! I kicked her (disabled) brother out of my life after 37 years of marriage when he decided that he was bored at home while I was at work. To relieve the boredom, he decided to have a relationship with a 26 year old, illegally here from Honduras, stripper with two small children who he married 9 months after we divorced. Maybe I'm not looking so bad after all compared to her new sister in law! lol! Anyways...the question was...is there a way to see when the friend request was actually made?

In the app, tap the three parallel lines on right side of the menu bar along the bottom of the screen. Select “Friends” from the menu that comes up. You can see a list of pending friend requests there, and along the right, it will show you how long ago the request was made.
To my knowledge, if you’ve accepted a friend request, you can’t see the date of that.

Thank you! Wow! She sent the request last week! I'm in shock! Barely had two words to say to me the past 18 years at least....even though we live in the same town....and now she sent me a friends request after a year of being out of the family. I'm really confused! ...clicks delete request...

That information is saved somewhere because FB uses it to congratulate you on “friendaversaries.” I wonder if there is a way to see it?

Perhaps she wants to keep track of what you’re up to, in the vein of “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer”.

That would be the date the request was accepted, not when the request was sent. FB stores tons of information on every user that you can’t directly access. If you download your full profile, you can probably find it there. ETA: If you go to the menu, then Settings & Privacy, then Privacy Shortcuts, then Your Facebook Information/Access Your Information, then Friends, then Received Friend Requests, you can find specific dates.

She wouldn't find out much...I rarely post on there. This year I had one post in January and two in May! Yup....loads of info! lol and all three were just photos of my daughter...

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I was talking about the acceptance date because it appeared that you said it wasn’t available. My phrasing was ambiguous. I *meant* that after you’ve accepted a request, you can no longer (easily) see the date a request was sent. However, re-reading what I said, it can just as easily be taken the way you did

I would just ignore it. Life is too short to have people not like you for that many years show up as "friends."

Just for the future, don't delete the request if you don't want them sending it again. Let it sit there and then they can't send it again. For some reason, I thought once they send you the friend request, they can see whatever you've posted, whether you have common friends or not? Seems that someone told me this once upon a time but I don't know if it's true or not.

I would have deleted it also. Very odd since you were never close when you were still part of her family. Sounds like someone who wants some drama in her life.
