Yes. A thousand times yes. I’ve traveled with it for both of the longer trips I’ve taken since purchasing it as well. And if it wasn’t so dang heavy I would for all of our shorter trips. It makes such a world of difference in my ability to settle as well as the quality of my sleep. It used to take me several hours to go to sleep every night and I can’t remember the last time that happened.

MY DD (17) found it too hot/heavy over the summer, luckily her depression/anxiety is much better over the summer with no school Back on her bed now that nights are cooler. She takes it on road trips (but not one night sleepovers). She has had 2-3 friends ask about them after staying over.
We got hers at Bed Bath And Beyond (not cheap but on sale and a coupon) they have a one year return (the one we decided on was the third she tried.... kept the others for at least 2 weeks to try).

My husband uses one. I would not use one. Not for me. The heat would kill me. I hate making the bed with the thing on there. Drives me nuts everyday. Glad he likes it though.

Love mine. Sams has a 20-lb one with removable cover for only $49 if you are looking. I'm looking for dh and 15 y ds. What size do you have? Does it match your bed size? They recommend the size based on weight, I think 10% of body weight, but verify that. Personally, I’d love a 40lb blanket which they say would be too heavy, but I can’t find one. A pea recommended mine, after she did her research she said it was supposed to be the least hot. I know I thanked her when I got it but I wish I could remember her name cause I’d thank her again. This is the brand. If heat is a concern make sure and get the right cover, most of them are said to be hot. We keep our house in the low-60s and have since long before I got the blanket. There have been a few times over the Texas summer I had to roll it down and not have it on my upper body due to the heat. But far, far less often than I would expect. It is a total PITA to make the bed. And I have a bad back and sometimes DH has to pull it over me while I am laying down when it has started drifting towards the floor because my muscles can’t handle the strain. Also, be careful with your sheets, make sure and pull it up by the blanket and. To the sheet under the blanket. My super old but really soft sheets had to be trashed because it ripped. Boo. Another thing, in case this is a consideration. I have fibromyalgia and I have had very few issues with this. Occasionally my skin is so over sensitive that the sheet rubbing against my skin hurts, but I haven’t hit that point since I’ve had the blanket so can’t comment if it would be an issue then. But I’ve wondered, have I not hit that point because my sleep is so much better? Lack of sleep greatly increases my pain levels, or my ability to deal with them. Anyway, the weight of the blanket doesn’t hurt me, even when someone touching my upper arms does.

YES! I loved it so much I bought a second one for my bed at the lake cabin too. I bought THIS 15 lb blanket on a whim from Amazon on Prime Day for about $50. It didn’t come with a cover and I was too cheap to buy one, so I made one from 108” wide flannel that was on sale at JoAnn’s a couple weeks ago. My homemade flannel cover does the job and isn’t at all bulky. After using it for a couple weeks, I decided I needed one at the cabin too. Tuesday Morning had some London Fog weighted blankets with a plush minky type cover on promo for $49.99. This one is also 15 lbs but I wish I would have bought a second one like the one I got on Amazon. This one has glass beads and it seems like they inside shift around more and bunch up in the corners of the sections so it doesn’t feel like the weight is as evenly distributed in it. I was just away for a couple days with a friend, didn’t have it and I totally slept like crap. Came home last night and slept much, much better.

DH and I both have twin-size blankets and use them on our split king mattress. I cannot even imagine trying to use a larger one. It would have to weigh even more to get the “weight per square inch” that you need for the calming effect. I don’t find mine to be hot, but I don’t have a heavy cover on it. I just bought a cheap set of sheets and made my own light weight removable cover so I avoid having to wash the blanket itself.

I really wanted to love mine. Part of my issue was that Dh got it for me for my last birthday. Would love to have one but would prefer jewelry for my birthday 🤪. As Dh lugged the huge and heavy blanket in front the garage and I basically was like wtf, dd started yelling ‘I told you to get jewelry’. Perhaps the one Dh got was too heavy but I found it extra heavy and extra warm, and I’m always cold. Instead I use a heated beanbag in my bed and an extra blanket on top of me for the weight.

I would really like one since sleep is not my friend. But, I just can’t do a gray one and the covers are kind of pricey. How would it stay in place if I made one out of sheets ? Which is a genius idea, thank you for that.

I can’t recommend them enough! I bought a 7 lb weighted blanket for my daughter two years ago (she has anxiety, just turned 11) and it helped her sleep improve immensely. Some days when she is particularly stressed or overstimulated, she gets under her blanket and “grounds” herself. I finally broke down and bought myself one as well (mine is 15 lbs).
Both blankets were custom made by Red Barn Blankets on Etsy. They are a bit pricier than store bought blankets but I strongly feel they are worth every penny. The craftsmanship is impeccable! Each square is sewn individually so the beads don’t travel about and cause uneven weight distribution. Each square is also stuffed with comfy batting so it’s very soft and squishy. Plus, you pick your fabrics. That’s the fun part!
I’m no longer a restless sleeper with chronic exhaustion. I struggled with shutting my brain off after a long shift at work (med/surg nurse) and now I sleep soundly without frequent waking/mind racing. I love, love, love my blanket! Hope you try one and love it as well...

I have one, but haven't used it during the summer as it was just too hot. I can't wait for the cooler weather so I can put it back on.

I think I saw one at Walmart on an end cap in the craft section, but it was the "inside" of it. I just glanced at it, I think you are supposed insert it into a cover so you won't have to wash it. I know it said weighted insert on the package.

A girlfriend has been using one for a few years and hates when she travels and can't take it with her.
I noticed a display of Pendleton weighted blankets at the front of our Costco last week and think I might pick up a couple for my kids.

Which is a genius idea, thank you for that. Why would you have to get a gray one? The one I got from Amazon is purple and the London Fog one is navy blue (well the cover is, I think the blanket itself is white). Both of mine are about 48”x 78” or so. I’m sure you could make a cover for it out of a king sized sheet folded in half. I chose flannel so it would be less likely to slide off the bed and added twill ties at the inside top and bottom corners and centers that matched up with the loops already sewn to the blanket in those places so the cover and blanket will stay together. Most of these blankets I’ve seen come with loops sewn in the corners for that purpose.

I started having trouble sleeping after my husband died last year. My daughter bought me a weighted blanket. I have to say I was skeptical, but the thing really made me feel better, and sleep better. I live in the desert, so there was no way I could use it in the summer because of the added heat, but it's back on my bed now, and I still love it.

Gray just doesn’t work for me. The color is too dark and I don’t like it for my bedroom. If I could get a white one, that would be good. I was inquiring about making a cover out of sheets. That would be a perfect solution if I could make the blanket stay secure inside the cover. Plus, I’m not the best seamstress. Not at all.

That would be a perfect solution if I could make the blanket stay secure inside the cover. Plus, I’m not the best seamstress. Not at all. If you have a sewing machine, it was really quite easy if you can sew a reasonably straight line. I folded the fabric the long way, cut some 10” pieces of twill ribbon that I had in my scrapbooking stash to use as ties, folded each piece in the middle so it would have two ends to tie around the loops and pinned the folded part of each strip in the corners and at the center top and bottom to secure it in the line of stitching where I wanted my ties. Sew a straight line across one short end and one long side. If you’re using a sheet you could be done right there because it will already be hemmed on all sides. Since I was using flannel fabric from JoAnn’s, I hemmed the bottom open end too and added some ties on that end as well, but it really wouldn’t need them there. You don’t really need a zipper or button closures on the bottom because unlike a duvet the weighted blanket really isn’t going anywhere once it’s inside the cover. I contemplated adding a zipper or buttons to my homemade cover, but thought I’d try it as is and if it didn’t stay in I can always add some buttons and buttonholes or go buy a zipper, but so far it hasn’t budged a bit and it’s been on my bed that way for a couple weeks now without any issues. I sandwich the covered weighted blanket between my flat sheet and the comforter that’s on my bed mostly so I don’t have to launder the cover as often, so for all intents and purposes no one sees it so it wouldn’t matter what color it is anyway. I mostly wanted a removable cover in case my dog barfs on my bed or something, there would be one more line of defense protecting the weighted blanket because it would be harder to wash.

Which is a genius idea, thank you for that. My blanket did not have loops for a cover, so I added loops to the four corners. For the cover, I used two twin flat sheets (found nice one on clearance and don’t care about the color, so only paid about $5 each). I measured the fabric about an 2 inches bigger than the width of the blanket, and about 10 inches longer for one and only 2 inches longer for the other. Then I sewed it like a duvet and put buttons in the corner for the loops to anchor the blanket. I can’t explain the duvet directions without a diagram, but the top has a “fold over” flap to finish it off. There are YouTube videos out there that can show you step by step directions.

I love mine. I highly recommend using a weighted blanket.
Mine is 12 pounds. At first I thought I might want to get a heavier one. But, I am glad I didn't as I think any heavier would make me get too hot.
Shortly after I started using the weighted blanket, I also started using a wedge pillow. That has helped my sinus, throat drainage, chronic throat mucous/post nasal drip issues.
I also have a cooling pillow, on top of the wedge pillow.
It's been almost a year, since I switched to these three items. It has made such a difference in my sleep. I sleep deeper and sleep for longer periods of time. Still not perfect (chronic insomnia), never eight hours, but so much better than before.

Most of the blankets I’ve seen are more like a twin bed size, roughly 48”x78” give or take. There are bigger ones too, but unless both people sleeping in a bigger bed want it on them it wouldn’t be worth the added expense. My DH barely likes having a sheet over him in the summer. I knew it probably wouldn’t be something he would want so I got the smaller twin size one and it’s perfect for me. We sleep in a king sized bed both at home and at the lake so it only covers my side.

I got my husband one for Christmas, and he really loved it. But then the cats decided the texture of the beads was suitable for use as a litter box. After I cleaned cat pee from it three times, it got thrown out.

I was so freaking excited to get mine. I used it a couple of months, but it is really hot. And I got a cooling one. I guess that's what menopause does to you. And I think it's too heavy for the size that it is, at least for me.
I need to find one that's about 15 pounds instead of 20 and try that.

My DD has one.. I tried it and hated it. I felt like I was adjusting it all night. This sounds more like the London Fog blanket I got. It seems like the beads inside shift around more readily? The Weighted Idea blanket I bought from Amazon is more solid feeling, for lack of a better description, in that the beads don’t seem to shift around as much or bunch in the corners of the quilted parts. The weight is more even. It feels more like that lead thing the dental hygienist puts on me when I’m getting x-rays at the dentist which was the feeling I was going for.

We have them and love them. We bought the original gravity blankets when they were on Kickstarter. Once they came out with the cooling ones we got those too. Their 1st generation ones are currently on sale. We have had them for a couple of years at this point. Best purchases ever. We have 2 sets of 25 lbs ones. I sleep under 2 most nights. It is glorious! They are worth every penny. I am actually ordering another one to have sent to my sil's for when we go visit. We have a couple of totes in their basement for when we visit and I sleep horribly when we visit. So I am hoping it will help to have one there too.
