My wedding in December is going to be low key, only 50-55 people. Small and cozy. It will be at the synogogue and is going to be set up like a Paris cafe so people can feel free to mingle.
I really want to do a candy buffet because I just love them and very few of my friends and family have ever heard of them so it will have a bit of the "wow" factor.
How many different types of candy should I get and any idea about amounts? Because we're getting married so close to Chanukkah we're having blue, white and silver as our color theme.
So far, I have 4 pounds of jelly belly jelly beans (two in dark blue and two in white); 7 pounds of sixlets (dark blue and light blue); and 15 pounds of m&ms, 5 pounds each in blue, light blue and white.
I haven't picked up the m&ms yet. Is that too much?
I'm overwhelmed by the number of types of candy and I'm trying to decide how many varieties to get. Right now, I'm thinking 10 varieties, including chocolates, gummies, marshmallows etc.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I would add in some rock candy sticks. And some chocolate dipped peppermint sticks. Both of those can be stirred into coffee or eaten as candy. I would have at least 10 different types of candy for a candy buffet.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Not being much of a candy person, I can't help on that but I wanted to wish you all the best in your marriage!! I remember you posting about having a new love and I believe the two of you moving in together but I didn't realize you were marrying. Have fun with your wedding!!

Thank you both so much.
Lisa, actually, rock candy pops are on my list. Since I'm not having any luck finding the silver jordan almonds I wanted, I'm thinking of just getting regular hershey's kisses (the ones wrapped in silver foil)

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! The candy buffet sounds like a lot of fun. Just in case you don't already know this, you can order personalized m&ms. I just grabbed the link below & I noticed that they've extended their Columbus Day sale (I don't know for how long - maybe today only?) - 20% off any order. Personalized m&ms

We used some retro candies too..there are a ton of great websites. Something different that they'll get excited about. We had candy necklaces and ring pops at ours..they were a HUGE hit and it cracked me up to see my grandparents dancing around having a blast with a ring pop You can order just about anything in specific colors now. We did smaller amounts and more choices. You've got a lot of each one...make sure you put out bags and encourage them to make a treat bag to go home with at the end. We had way more leftovers than we ever would've anticipated!

One thing I can tell you is to get your containers now and see how much it actually takes to fill them. I was shocked at how little I actually had, when I thought I had so much!
Dove & Lindt both have individually wrapped chocolates in white, blue, and silver. They take up a decent amount of space, too, so work well when you're wanting to vary the sizes of your containers (important for visual interest, IMNSHO).
Amazon has "candy kits" by color and even shape. I'm not sure I would do those for a baby/bridal shower or birthday party, but for a wedding I would consider it totally worth the cost!

I had no idea what silver almond joy was so I googled. The results were a bunch of options for blue candy. You might have already seen this but thought I would pass it on just in case. The York Peppermint Candy pieces is what caught my attention, probably because I do like York mints........one of the few candies I like. LOL Blue Candy

My friend did this exact theme. Her colors were purple and black. They also did a candy bar. They had m&m's, rock candy, black licorice and other candy's that did not have any wrappers on them. That made it easier to just eat them and not have to worry about a mess. They had personalized brown bags as well. It was a really cute idea and went over really well with the kids.

Make sure to have some kind of scoop or tongs for the candy so people aren't just diving in with their hands.

When I think of candy buffet at a wedding, I am thinking of handmade chocolates and caramels.
And a big yes to tongs and scoops.

I did this for my December wedding...it was a huge hit! I bought the clear baggies for people to put their candy in. I also had gift bags decorated so they could stick their clear bags of candy inside the gift bags so at the end they are just carry one bag home. Hope that makes sense lol!!
I bought clear serving tongs from the party store (dollar tree has them cheaper in packs of 6!) and places 2 in each jar.
Jars- I bought some fancy ones with coupons from Michaels and Joann's...Marshells and TJ Maxx as well. Different styles and heights. We had a table cloth on the table and I placed books under table cloth so I could give some of my jars extra height.
Candy- my wedding was on 12/10 and my main color was purple so I actually was able to get some Halloween candy on clearance what was wrapped in purple already (mini Reese's was one) so some of my candy was wrapped already...some wasn't like M&Ms and Nerds.
Pounds- I over bought. I wanted to make sure I had enough. There is a chart online you can read up on. It will tell you how to calculate how much for each number of guest...really helpful!
Congrats! Best wishes ❤

We had way more leftovers than we ever would've anticipated! you say that like too much leftover candy is a problem lol! OP, your choices sound great so far! did you think about airhead candy, i know those come in blue and white. Also, blue/white raspberry gummy rings, blue licorice sticks, pretzels dipped in white chocolate with blue sprinkles (use rods if you need something vertical to break up the look), mini nestle crunches, yogurt covered raisins, make blue chocolate covered nuts with blue food coloring in white melted chocolate, mini almond joys, blue laffy taffy... ETA: online estimates are 1/3- 1/2 pound candy per guest.

My SIL did this for my niece's graduation and she had tons leftover! Most of the group was cousins/younger kids so maybe they didn't grasp the idea of the whole thing though. Hope you have a fabulous day!

We did this for my daughter's wedding and it was wonderful. Get the containers that you want. Fill them with the candy. Set it out on a table and see how it looks. That will help you decide if you need more containers and/or more candy.

You might already know this, but M&M's can be personalized. We have ordered from mymms.com a couple of times and they are always a huge hit. They are a little pricey, but have a 20% off sale on right now and y ou could just order a small amount and mix them in with other, non personalized M&Ms.

The Lindt truffles were a HUGE hit at a New years party we went to. And they take up a lot of space in the jar. She did all different size and height apothecary jars, and all wrapped candy. She had sparkly treat bags for everyone to fill. It was very pretty and worked out beautifully. Great idea.

Please please please mark candies that have coconut or considered not nut allergy friendly.

If it's not dark chocolate, it's not worth it to me. With all the sugar, are you going to have any protein available? Maybe something with peanut butter in it could work with your buffet, but I don't know if that would fit in well with what you want.

I love the idea of many different buffets.

Use plenty of mirrors under containers and put a block of styrofoam in large jars as filler.
