The pictures would make me remember the house. They don't make me want to buy it, or not buy it. It isn't like the guy lives there. I seriously doubt anyone is going to want to recreate the photos later since it isn't a movie set house.
I assume the rugs are down because the floor is stained or otherwise in bad shape. Looking at the bedroom floors and landing it is easy to see those have patched places and refinish issues. The carpeted areas are probably worse. I do love the wood work and windows in the living rooms. Like the over wide doors but they mean nothing is a standard replacement. My guess is they don't fit tight like modern doors do.
But the small kitchen and one bath would be a problem. Even though I am a one person household I do like two bathrooms. One I use and one kept clean for guest usage.

4 bedrooms and only 1 bathroom!! Hard no... Honestly, the ugly grey carpets in several of the rooms were a bigger turnoff than the scary dude.... Yeah, although for the price, I would seriously consider buying it and just adding a bathroom. (That's super cheap compared to my market!) Oh, I totally agree re: the price. We just paid 5x that amount for a 2bed/1bath and have replaced everything from the sewer line up to the roof to get it habitable for renting out. Housing prices are completely ridiculous in Seattle!

That house has never sold for more than $62K (in 2009) and then was resold 1 year later for $39K. This seller is asking for $65K more than she/he bought it for 9 years ago. This is the same pattern of price ups and downs as in our neighborhood so I assumed the 2010 transaction was either a foreclosure or short sale.

I missed the scary dude the first time around--had to go look for him. I like the house except for only one bathroom. The hardwood floors look good. The price is amazing (I live in California, so prices are quite a bit more out here!) The kitchen would need some work--maybe call in Chip and and Joanna! The yard is beautiful. I can't imagine getting a home for that price!!

This is the same pattern of price ups and downs as in our neighborhood so I assumed the 2010 transaction was either a foreclosure or short sale. I don’t think so, because the price in previous sale was $25K. The $62K was the odd blip because it was so high. I think there is - or was - something seriously wrong with the house. Maybe the current people fixed the foundation, replaced all the plumbing, re-wired the electricity and reroofed the place and all is good now. Who knows? I’d want a thorough assessment for that big of a price increase. The interior isn’t where they spent $60+K, judging by the photos. It is less than 4 miles from Michigan State University. I would think that housing wouldn’t fluctuate as much given a large student body and University faculty and staff all in need of housing regardless of the economy.

I would think that housing wouldn’t fluctuate as much given a large student body and University faculty and staff all in need of housing regardless of the economy. The $25K sale price was 10 years prior and $62 around the peak of the bubble. Demand for housing has always been high around here and the only impact of the crash was extreme competition for the few rentals available while a large number of empty houses sat around. Our neighbor's sat empty for 2 years while the foreclosure process proceeded. It wasn't the only one in our neighborhood by any means. Investors sat on the sidelines, waiting for the market to bottom out and renters scrambled to find housing. 1999 $25 MI 1995 $199 CA 2009 62 (+1.48%) 2008 525 (+1.64%) 2010 39 (-37%) 2011 333 (-37%) 2019 105 (+1.69%) 2018 650 (+.95%)
My dates aren't perfect matches, but close enough to show a similar pattern. The big jump is the current listing price and, FWIW, DH's first comment looking at the photos was "new furnace" so I'm assuming they've put the money into structural upgrades. Indicators are that is a seller's market and it doesn't seem outrageously priced to others in the area.

Love it, would definitely make me go & view the house. We don’t do that sort of thing here in the UK but I think we should!

Super cute little house. Why would they ruin their chances of selling it with the creepy reaper? Not smart.

All of those beautiful windows and doors would temp me. I would probably add a bath to make one of the bedrooms ensuite. The yard is so big. And that kitchen can be updated. The price is amazing to me. Can you tell I live in So Cal?!

This is not far from where I live. The location is super close to downtown Lansing. But the road this is on is between two one way three lane arteries through town. It's not the location I would choose to live.
I think the upkeep or rehab of it seems good. I don't think there's anything majorly wrong with the house. But I assume it's a flip. It's too far from msu to be student housing really but it may be a rehabbed rental in that area.
My house is a 3 bedroom ranch in a slightly better school district in a nicer neighborhood. I paid $105,000 for my house. And we put in a lot of elbow grease and about $20,000 into our house before we moved in. My house also has a full finished basement with four rooms downstairs and one of our renovations was an egress window so we can use the largest room as a bedroom. We also have a bathroom in our basement. So technically my house is now a 4 bed-2 bath.
I would say, though, knowing this area and seeing the pics, it might sell for $90k. And that would be a fair price if the house looks as good in person as it does in pictures.
And I am a lover of Halloween. I think the pics were cute.

I’d need to see it in person. That house has never sold for more than $62K (in 2009) and then was resold 1 year later for $39K. This seller is asking for $65K more than she/he bought it for 9 years ago. There is something wrong with the house or the neighborhood. The scary guy is only in a few pics that can easily be removed from the listing when Halloween is over and replaced if the house doesn’t sell before then. it's in lansing.. many neighborhoods there are very, very cheap. when i was at MSU, a roommate and i were looking at buying a house for around $15k, and we had tons to choose from. neighborhoods aren't the best of course, but they weren't the worst either.

The price is right! I like the house itself too, lots character. But the scream guys creeps me out. I’m sure I could get past it if I was in the market for this house because like o said, the price is right. I’d have to add another bathroom that’s for sure.

Needs some updating, and the rugs are an easy fix (it's what's under them that I'd worry about, I wonder if they are hiding some messed up wood flooring or something). It's a beautiful home. I'd buy it, update it, and add a couple of bathrooms. They really could have positioned scary guy outside a couple of windows, or in the shadows on a couple of the pics and made it funnier.

Well I was so distracted by the scary dude, that I really didn't even look at the pictures. I was doing a Where's Waldo thing... thinking maybe I needed to search for him in every picture. Honestly I didn't even see ugly grey rugs.

I like to think I have a good sense of humor, but not when it comes to business.
Those pictures make me think the realtor is someone I would want to invite to a party, but not someone I would want to deal w/ when the inspection report showed that my dream house had several problems that needed to be resolved before closing.

I thought it was funny, especially the one on the toilet.
I love the house...what a great price. I would turn one of the bedrooms into another bathroom and gut the kitchen.
I love the all the original character and I LOVE the leaded glass windows.

Pictures didn’t sway me either way. I would worry more about the neighbor and what’s under the rugs. At that price, add a bathroom !

No. The agent/seller run the risk of potential buyers viewing them as inexperienced or not serious about the listing.
