Ugh...I have been going to this salon for a couple years now and never had an issue. But, I got a manicure on Saturday and one of my nails is definitely infected (red, swollen and painful).
Any tips or tricks for clearing it up? I leave on vacation in 4 hours. Today I have been soaking it in an antiseptic wash solution as much as possible and wearing a Band-Aid with Neosporin.

Yuck, that's no good. I would stick with the Neosporin.

I would treat it just like you are doing. I hope it gets better! Keep a watch on it..friend got a really bad infection from the same thing.

Take a photo of it for your records and notify the salon so they can hopefully figure out what wasn't sterilized. And keep a good eye on the finger.

If you're going on vacation in a location where a quick trip to a walk in clinic is an issue, I'd go now and get antibiotics. I've seen two finger infections require oral antibiotics to clear the infection.

Yuck, that's no good. I would stick with the Neosporin. That's what I was going to say! I've had issues before and I don't necessarily think it was from an infection but more that they dug a little too deep and it irritated my skin. Neosporin always cleared things up within a day or two for me. Hope for you it goes the same!

It might help to soak it nightly in warm water and Epsom salts. Then reapply the Neosporin.

My finger was sore after the manicure...it felt like she cut my skin a tad, although it didn't bleed and I couldn't see a cut. It took a couple days for it to start looking infected.
Unfortunately, we are going to Disneyland. I guess if it got worse I could can it though. I don't have time to go someplace before we leave.
I hope the Neo and antibiotic soak does the trick. This is a mom and daughter trip, so if I have to bail for a clinic visit it's going to suck for dd.

The Univeristy of Irvine Hospital ER is close to Disneyland and very good. We have been there when d [HASH]1 managed to cut his forehead open on the hotel room coffee table. Don't miss your trip, just go there if it doesn't get better.
Or, if you are staying on property, Disney resorts typically have good doctors on-call and you could see one in the hotel.

Not an infection from a manicure, but I did get cellulitis from a pedicure once. I went to my regular salon, too, not a cheap place. I was very sick & close to being hospitalized. Be cautious and don't take the infection lightly.

Soaking in very warm salt water will give you a lot of relief.

If you have either Eucalyptus or Melaleuca essential oils around your home, you can use those, too. I have alternated between the Melaleuca and Neosporin and it worked great for my manicure debacle. It cleared up in three days.

Be vigilant. See a doctor in Florida if you need one. Have a GREAT time!
