If you're going to get all smug and say "I'm never bored", then you can back right on out of here. It's been raining here for weeks and weeks, it seems. I've done everything there is to do in the house. Cleaned the closets. Organized the pantry. Caught up on my reading. I've done all the things. I'm sitting here this morning with my coffee, looking out at all the outdoor work that needs done, but guess what? It's raining. Of course. I'm bored. What to do? I'm going out for breakfast with a friend, but after that, the long day stretches until I can go to bed and wake up tomorrow to yet another wet day . . . Uggggghhhhhhhhh

Well, I usually have more to do than what I have time for, so I can't remember the last time I was bored. If I was in your position, and the weather was bad, I would probably go shopping. Or find a good show to binge watch.

I think it's good to be bored sometimes. If you're bored for hours and days on end, well then it's probably time to take stock of your life and add in some new elements. But personally, my brain works so wonky and I carry a lot of nervous energy around. I can't sit still very often. So when I'm bored, I consider it a good thing, a time to rest, if you will. I meditate, do yoga. Things to help me relax even further and really get into a state of decompression. In other words, I take full advantage of it. It is at these times when I also watch TV. And I don't watch TV or movies very often because I don't have the focus.

I wish....... What about starting to learn a new language- it’s free on the Duolingo app and fun!( I’ve got German,Danish and Mandarin on the go.🤪🤪🤪) Go to the movies? Teach yourself a new skill from YouTube- crochet or knitting or macrame or sign language maybe Find some new music Go to local library and do a Jigsaw puzzle Volunteer at your local aged care home to read the daily newspaper to elderly with poor vision Write your Christmas list or your Christmas cards early? I can’t WAIT till I retire.......

I try to learn something. Read a book, Google the next random thing that pops in your mind, work a puzzle, watch a tutorial, attempt a craft, try a recipe, volunteer.

I use a different app, but could try Duolingo for something different.

I have volunteered so much lately. Puzzle is a good idea - I'll feel like my 90 year old granny, but it's better than twiddling my thumbs.

Several. And they are ALL outside things. This makes me think that maybe you might want to broaden your horizons and try something new then. If I remember correctly, you live in Michigan too? What do you do on all our crappy winter days? Maybe this would be the perfect time to try something new before the snow flies.

Just like rain, I don't want to be wet. I'm completely over this rain right now too.

I like the puzzle idea, though I do prefer to work on puzzles with at least one other person.
I often turn to online shopping, unfortunately. Catch up on magazines. Go through my recipe collections and do a little menu planning or meal prep.
Send some of that rain my way! We are so dry here.

Volunteer at your local aged care home to read the daily newspaper to elderly with poor vision YES !!! I used to take my doggies to visit and/or teach card-making/ just sit with them and listen to their stories, listen to them sing, etc. There are SO MANY lonely, sad people in nursing homes! You would make them so happy!

Since I just retired, I am never bored. BUT, winter is long, so I can see it happening.
I made a list of fun things to do around town or even an overnight trip. Are you near a history museum, a conservatory, an fancy food store, or an OMNI type theater? Or, if the weather is nice and you are bored - visit an arboretum, farmers market, state park, or zoo.
I understand about the dark, rainy days. It's cold here!

I have such a backlog of stuff I *have* to do (and half of it is stuff I don’t WANT to do) that I don’t get a chance to ever really be bored. I kind of wish I had that problem because then my closets would already be clean, my pantry would already be organized, my scrapbooks up to date, LOL.
I would find something new that I was interested in learning, or learning more about. I would bake stuff. Sew something. Scrapbook. Read a book. Volunteer to teach kids to read. Volunteer at the zoo and be a docent. Go shopping. Help out a friend or family member who is overwhelmed and has too much to do. Volunteer to deliver Meals on Wheels. Take a college class or something through community education. It’s endless.
I have so many things I’m interested in and so many projects I eventually want to do that I will never be truly bored. (I think that stems from my childhood. If we ever claimed we were bored my mom would just assign us more chores, so it was beneficial to learn from an early age various ways to keep ourselves occupied, LOL.)

Last winter had me in the doldrums so I put my teacher mentality to use and divided my day up into class periods. PE - I worked out. Art- I crafted. Home Ec - I baked or cooked. French - I used an app. Lit - I read a book. Math - I did puzzles. It kept my interest and I didn’t get detention if I skipped a class!

I end up cleaning usually. Mopping floors, or sorting through stuff. Or cross stitching, reading or baking.

Bake or food prep.
I never start early enough, but my goal is to get my holiday cookies started and frozen and ready to bake earlier this year. I have a few that I freeze in individual ball form or as one piece for rolling out. If you don't want to have a bunch of stuff you have to eat, you can make some things and freeze, or give away!
Or go to a movie.

If you're going to get all smug and say "I'm never bored", then you can back right on out of here. Thank you! Those types of responses are so annoying! I'm never bored, but I have a wonderful husband, but My kids are amazing, but I'm always busy, but I've never had issues with my weight, but
#I'msoamazing #sayingnotsayingmylifeisbetterthanyours #I'msuperhumble
I like to make lists of all the things I want to do; scrap, read, movies, TV shows, or crafty things. Then I get tired and take a nap. I like playing boggle, codycross, and frozen free fall on my phone. Adult coloring is another idea. A more ambitious idea I have not done is free online educational classes offered through universities. Maybe decluttering and organizing a room?
My life is basically Groundhog's Day and it's not possible to make any major changes. I'll be paying attention to this thread.

i am not often bored just because i am lazy by nature. and a procrastinator. so i can easily lay in bed, read or watch netflix and am happy, happy!
if i want to be productive, i make a bunch of taco meat, pasta sauce, etc to freeze for easy meals. or bake cookies or banana bread to freeze so we have snacks for hikes or lunches available.
how about make a phone date to catch up with a friend or family member you haven't spoken to in a long time?
i bought some blank cards and customized them with monograms, wrapped them up with a ribbon and gave them as gifts to friends to send a note or use as thank you cards.
it's rainy here and i am happy about it - super hot and humid yesterday. ugh. i hate the heat. i like to grab an umbrella and go for a walk along the boardwalk by the lake with a hot tea, listening to a podcast while i walk. love that there is almost no one there.
our art gallery has a new annual membership that is only $35... thinking of getting that for someplace interesting to wander around on a rainy day.

Call me Granny Clampet, but I always have a jigsaw puzzle going. While I'm not young, I'm far from 90. I am often bored, because I can't do too much. So, I took up knitting, I work puzzles when I have the energy. I bake. I read. It's hard to be bored. You need to keep searching and find an inside hobby that speaks to you. Since you're healthy and have energy many things are open to you.

Ooh, I love days and time to myself. Binge watch tv. Sometimes while reading or scrapbooking or doing puzzles. Sometimes just laying around. Go for a walk Run errands, shopping, window shopping Try a new recipe (next is learning to make pasta) Organize something Start my Xmas cards, so they’ll be ready for the mail right away Deep clean something Nap Read Listen to records Play video games Sit and enjoy silence on the porch Fiddle with my flowers outside I want to learn languages Coloring books/dot to dot Word searches/crosswords I don’t have a problem finding something to do
