I didn't see a thread started for last night's episode.
I loved how they used the previous season's pool episode and interspersed it with this episode. It showed how much those kids have grown in just a few years.
I think Toby losing weight due to stress is odd. When he got stressed and depressed before, he ate for comfort which is what Kate is doing. For him to suddenly be this workout dude and Kate not noticing (preview from next week) doesn't seem plausible to me.
I like Randall, Beth and the girls storyline, but nothing too out of the ordinary for them in this episode.

I made it about 15 minutes in. I wish I could record the show so I could watch in the afternoon, maybe I would find it more interesting.

I thought it was a good episode and I really liked the scene with Kevin and the baby - the fact that he has been sober the same number of days that Baby Jack has been alive. He seems to be on a real journey of his life.
I think the Toby losing weight story makes a sense - perhaps that now he is a dad, he wants to make sure he is around for his son, especially since his son will face challenges. Plus, people handle different stresses in different ways. What I don't get though is him keeping it from Kate - why did he say he was going to the store, when he was going to the gym. Why not just tell her that he is trying to lose weight? I did notice him kind of give her the eye though when she mindlessly snacked.
The pool scenes were good to see how much the kids have grown and changed just over a couple of years and to see Rebecca and Jack thinking back about how different they are now.
As mentioned, not a lot going on with Randall's family but I did like that they ran up the stairs like Rocky and I like just showing the fact that they are a pretty normal family and he and Beth do what they can do make sure the girls are happy and well adjusted.

It might not have been the whole six months. This might be a new things for Toby. Also, when you are larger, it takes awhile before you start to tone. Kate has also been very focused on the baby and lack of sleep doesn't help either.

I like Tess' new hairstyle. It was sort of a normal family stuff episode. Not too exciting. I know we are going to continue to revisit Kate's struggles with weight and Kevin's alcoholism as they are not going away but I hope they won't become the focus of so many episodes. I find learning how to deal with a blind baby to be the most interesting. I think this is the first show I've seen that had a blind character from birth.

I cried a little. I want Kevin to be happy and I want him to be sober. There was a scene where I thought he resembled my son who lives in NYC and it made me miss my son even more than I already do.

I liked this episode a lot. Seems like they’re all learning to chill out a little, and just be. Randall and Beth are learning to let the girls be themselves, and not control so much. They’re always so high strung, I liked how they had a couple breakthroughs with the older girls.
Toby losing weight and working out seems fine to me. His stress is being controlled with his workouts, and for many that’s real.
Kevin has always struggled, but I think this is his turnaround finally. His little talk with baby Jack was so sweet. And we already know his future self has a kid, so hopefully he’s also doing good then.

I really love this show so much. I guess because I am a sap.
I loved the scene with Kevin talking to the baby. I loved the scene when Tess showed off her new haircut and Beth lit up and told her she had never looked more beautiful.
I loved the scene of them all running up the stairs.
I loved the scene of Kate telling them all how she wants Jack to be raised.
Aw, heck...I loved it all!

I thought last season that Toby stopped taking his meds. Is this obsession with working out a side effect of that storyline?

But I think he is exercising and getting healthy for 2 reasons: one, it's a stress reliever and he said he is stressed about his wife. Also, I think because she is overeating, he's really afraid for her and knows he needs to be healthy to be around for his kid. He had some serious heart issues in a previous season so I think he's finally seeing how important it is to be healthy.
That's my take on it.

I think the part I didn't get was how could Kate not notice her husband getting all toned up. Has she not seen him with his shirt off the last six months? My husband has a beard most of the time until it drives him nuts then he shaves. It usually takes me a couple of days to notice! So I see with a newborn she might not be paying attention to him. I have no excuse. Now I worry... I thought last season that Toby stopped taking his meds. Is this obsession with working out a side effect of that storyline? He stopped taking them to up his sperm count then they showed him running to the pharmacy (I think) and getting his prescription as soon as she was pregnant for real. Then it took some time for them to kick in. Overall I loved this episode so much. I was super pissed at Kevin at the end for passing on the film and showing up at Nicky's. What the heck. Take care of yourself! But I guess that's a boring storyline.

Was I the only one who thought Tess' haircut wasn't a big deal. I couldn't really see what Beth was worried about. And the line about them looking alike, I can't ever remember Tess having hair remotely like her mothers. I was expecting something crazy - and then they showed the after and I was like - seriously? Girl if that's what your teen is doing to her hair chill the hell out.

I couldn’t see the big deal with it either...I was half expecting her head to be partially shaved or something drastic like that.

I took it to mean he was going to do the movie, that he took his plant to Nicky's so he could look after it while he was doing the movie.

I didn’t get as far as the haircut, but look it up.
Gorgeous! Just gorgeous.
I imagine such a cut is a big deal. My son had super curly ( Irish) hair and it took forever for it to grow. If he got a bad haircut, he had to live with it for months. Can you imagine if a girl with curly hair gets a bad cut?
