So the DH and I are heading to Anchorage and Fairbanks for our DD's last away games in volleyball...forever.
It's cool that it's somewhere like Alaska 'cause it will be a VERY memorable trip!
We've got 5 days/4 nights (2 nights in each city) and the first, third and 4th nights we'll be able to do stuff!
So I'm wondering what is cool in each city to do? I've already given some thought to a Northern Lights tour but they end at 3am and my DH would never go for that, lol (I might though).
Any suggestions? Great restaurants we should try? We're at the Captain Hook in Anchorage and La Quinta in Fairbanks (where the team will be staying). Would love any tips! Thank you!

Exciting! My niece plays volleyball near Anchorage. Wonder if you’ll bump into her The only place I ate at in Anchorage was Moose’s Tooth Pub & Pizza and it was great!

I have stayed at Captain Hook in Anchorage. It is a beautiful hotel with exquisite shops on the main floor. There are quite a few restaurants nearby, including in the lobby. We ate at the 49th State Brewing Company. It is only about two blocks away. It is known for having the best price on Alaskan King Crab legs. MY DH loved them! (I don't eat seafood) It's right on the water, but since it will be November, I'm guessing you'll choose to eat indoors. Have a wonderful time and good luck to your DD. I miss the days of watching my DD play and coach.

The art Museum in Anchorage is quite lovely and well worth a visit. Try sourdough pancakes for breakfast, they are so yummy!

The Walmart in Anchorage has the best price and selection of souvenirs. Visit Wild Scoops for some unique Ice cream (not sure if they will still be open). Fireweed jelly is pretty good.

You have to go on a northern lights tour. I see them quite regularly, twice last month and it's been quite this year or cpoudy when there is a show. They take my breath away every time. I'm in awe every time. No matter how small the show, no matter how little they dance. It's always worth getting up and going out for. I'd love to see them up in the far north, where they have all the colours. We green and white here and I've only seen pink once.

Any suggestions? My suggestion is that I come out there and see the Northern Lights with you! I'm dying to see them. Enjoy your trip....aren't there "lasts" bittersweet?!

The riverboat ride in Fairbanks was fun including doing the visit to the dredge and panning for gold. May be too cold in Nov. The brewery across from the Westmark in Anchorage was much nicer than we expected.

If you're going to Fairbanks you may not need to do a Tour to see them. They should be pretty visible without. Have fun and enjoy!
