I have been feeling for awhile SC has changed so much. I used to love it but the last 6 months or so it seems very skimpy and not the old SC I loved so much in the past. I struggle with my kits now and it seems like most of the design team uses oodles of digitals, cut files and digital stamps, photoshop, painting, all of those time consuming things I don't want to do on every layout. It used to be a mix of many manufacturers and I loved that part of it. Now it feels like leftovers and cheap fillers- it lacks cohesion. I'm looking for a new kit club. If you've tried any others lately please share. I'd like something colorful and fun! Any kit club you've fallen in love with?

I do feel like it has changed as well - for a lot of reasons you mentioned. I did like the papers this month in the main but that has also been hit or miss for me. My SB commitment is up after this month and will most likely cancel that sub. I plan to still keeps PL for now as I see the value there and I can pick add ons if I really love one. Anyways, as far as other clubs, I just subbed to Gossamer Blue. I got the October kit and it is packed! I decided on it over others as their kits seem like things I would buy anyways, their kits are packed and you get full packages of items (I prefer this as some kits break up packages and you only get a few designs), they have a great design team, the card design team uses the SB and PL kits for their cards (I like to see cards made from these kits as I love the look of more "scrappy" cards), Lori is great with customer service, and their kits include various manufactures. They also have an album challenge where if you upload 4 layouts made with the kits for 5 months, you get an album for free. I have already made 3 layouts with this months kit - the first two are basically all the main kit - I think I added a small wood veneer on one page. The third one I used my cameo for the title and added a few embellishments. The kit just seems to stretch far without adding your stash which I like. As far as other kits, I know a lot of people like Hip Kit Club, Citrus Twist, Scraptastic, Scrapbook Circle and Cocoa Daisy. I have only had experience wirh Scraptastic and it was a good one - just found the kits were not really my style. Good luck and sorry for the long post

I completely agree. I just cancelled my scrapbook and card subs after being a subscriber for two years. I did keep my PL sub though.

I actually was playing with an really old kit I found and I did get 2 add-ons and I still couldn't believe how much stuff was packed into that kit. I get the PL sub only and I think I get $20 worth of stuff, but I might need to start rethinking add-ons and such.

I think that they were great when they had a few exclusives and still used lots of products from the rest of the market. They then started moving to so much of their own stuff. I think it is more expensive to make so less stuff in the kits and add-ons. The stamps have gone downhill both in design- same words over and over and in quantity. I got frustrated with customer service and seeing so much great stuff that was being released but not used in the kits so I left. I am happy. I buy what I like and it is better for me. They were the best at picking out the next awesome thing in the scrapbook world and putting it in the kits now they just seem the same month after month. Other kits are using a mix of stuff out there and their own creations and those seem to give more goodies for the money. It seems like they want to just become a trendy manufacturer for classes, bpc, ali and such but their ideas and designs don't seem innovative or creative- and I think the better stuff they do make is supporting those areas and not their original kits.

I'm subscribe to Studio Calico but I have to admit that both Scraptastic and Hip Kit Club look really appealing. I am not ready to kick Studio Calico to the curb and I feel like multiple kits each month is too much, so it's a tough decision.

I stopped my SC sub about a year ago. I don't miss them and all their drama at all. I definitely think with all their new partnerships, the kits have taken a nose dive. The add on prices are ridiculous.
I think I read on Cathy zielske' website that she was now doing something with SC. To be honest, Ali and all the former scrap celebs have lost a lot of appeal to me. I don't enjoy their work or reading their blogs anymore.

The SC kits are getting just so much more difficult to work with- every month is worse. It feels like a lot of 'abstract' work needs to be done to get any use out of it- it's just too daunting for me anymore. I miss the old days. Another issue I have with it is that the papers just downright stink and are not related to each other in any way. I don't understand how it's taken such a nosedive so quickly. This month is kind of the last straw for me. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. I noticed the SC boards are so bare anymore and it's only a select few (mostly creative team members) starting any conversation.I need a new "home" maybe this will be it.

I gave up my subscription probably a year or so ago. Getting add-ons was ridiculous, the prices were going up, and I really wasn't liking the papers they used. There have been a kit here or there I've liked and bought, and I'll buy a class or die and stamp, but I'm happy I no longer subscribe.
A question though--was April a scrap "celeb" back in the day? I took a loooooong scrap break, and I think SC must have popped up during that break. I'm just wondering how she got her start?

She actually started SC with a lady named Scarlet. April's designs are ok, but nothing big and she was never anyone that was on any if the DT or anything. I think she and Scarlet just started the kit club and after they started having their own stamps it took off. I often wonder where Scarlet is and what she thinks of the business now. I hope she made out better than the man who sold the Jello formula for $35.00 and ended up seeing the business earn 250,000.00 just a year later.

I really like what Gossamer Blue has been putting out lately in their kits. A really nice assortment for the price.

I like their collections that they put out rather than their monthly kits.
