I just got my winter things down from the attic. I realized I have one bin that just contains black boots. Ten pairs. T-E-N pairs of black boots. Short ones, tall ones, dressy ones, casual ones. 10. And it's not that I have lots of boots in general - I only have one pair that isn't black - cowboy style boots.
Apparently it's an obsession with me.
So what do you have way too much of (but still "need" to keep anyway)?

T-shirts. I have hundreds. Plural, hundredS. I have my favorites that I always wear but still I find myself looking at new ones at the store. I need to go through them and weed out all the ratty old ones and also all the practically new ones that fit weird so they never get worn.

Jeans. I don't know...maybe 20 + pairs including black and white as well as blue denim. I have skinnies, straight/slim, bootcut...dark, light...smarter ones and distressed ones...ankle length, crop and standard. I wear pretty much all of them at different times though.

Eddie Bauer t-shirts, long sleeve, short sleeve, various neck styles, lots of colors. I do wear them a lot; I have on one today but there are some with tags still on. It's fortunate that there isn't an Eddie Bauer store with 60 miles of me or I'd find some other color I 'needed' just in case I might have something to match it.
Since I was just putting my summer things to the back of the closet, I noticed that I have too many dressier tops, some that didn't get worn at all this summer.

Scarves. The silk dressy kind. I have way too many (30+) but my rationale for keeping them all is that they take up so little room relative to other things. I also have way too many coats for someone who lives in Houston.

Clothes I’ve never worn. It’s somewhat embarrassing to see all those tags hanging, and realize that some have been dangling for years.. now, some of them I can blame on gifts from my mother who never seemed to get my style or from my husband, who (wonderful man) underestimates my size, but many are impulse purchases. When I was doing my summer purge, I found a bag shoved waaaay in the back that had several pairs of nice slacks in size 8. I haven’t been size 8 since about 2010.

T-shirts. Yet, I feel like I do not have enough. I want more variety but I do not like most of the variety that is out there. I saw a shirt I want. When I picked out my size and held it up, I could see the display sign through it. I put it back.

Sleeveless shirts/blouses and now jeans!
I have long, short (Capri), boot cut, girlfriend, boyfriend, tall, and every color of the rainbow of jeans/pants.
I have one entire day next week scheduled on my planner to take every single thing out of our master closet and reorganize and inventory!!!

Too much implies that I don't use it, so I would have to say purses. I travel enough and want the right size so it can fit in a backpack and not count as my personal item. I probably have a dozen purses and honestly use maybe 6 of them.
Now what do I have a lot of that I do use? Funs socks, jeans, and t-shirts.

Sadly, what I have most of is clothes that don’t fit. And if they ever were to fit me again, chances are they would be so dated I wouldn’t want to wear them.

Scarves there are about 100. It was socks but I got rid of all of them. I hate socks. I do have a problem with yoga pants.

I have a lot of tennies. Converse, Keds, and Vans mostly. In many colors and patterns.
My husband would say I have a lot of purses, but I don't believe that is possible.

Bras - I must have around 50. But I only regularly wear about 5 of them. My weight fluctuates, they become too tight or too loose, or not supportive enough, etc. So I buy them, wear them a couple of times, decide they’re not comfortable and throw them back in the drawer. In fact I recently sent around 20 to a charity that sends gently used bras to Africa.

Empty hangers. I’ll never have to buy another one. I donated the plastic hangers with Vince’s clothes; they use them to hang the clothes on the days when they do the giveaway at the township office. It worked out well because I had switched my clothes to the slim velvety hangers several years ago and I didn’t need all the others.

Yoga pants and black leggings. I have a whole dresser drawer full.
Speaking of which, what’s your favorite brand of yoga pants and black leggings? I need more.

I could have listed several categories a few years ago. But I honestly have had a change of heart about it and now really subscribe to the idea of "sparking joy" in my closet. I have purged again and again finding that each time I'm willing to let go of more and more.
The criteria for what stays is that it must fit correctly and make me feel good wearing it. I enjoy the process of getting dressed so much more now that I can grab anything and know it fits. And it's nice not to feel guilty over bad impulse purchases staring me in the face. I have also let go of old clothes that I was keeping only for the memories associated with them -- if I won't wear it now, out it goes.
Do I still have a lot of clothes and shoes? Yes. But I continue to work the process.

Everything.
I'm one of those people who loves clothes, especially more unique clothes. I don't hoard clothes, I curate an extensive wardrobe. lol
I have a lot of boots. But my calves are big and I have big feet, so when I find something I like, that fits well, and is good quality, I buy it and take very good care of it because I can't take for granted that I will find something else another time.
I also have a lot of oversized handmade cardigans. Because I enjoy making them. I don't get to wear them that often, but they are still a big part of my wardrobe.
