Striped shirts. But I’m not unhappy about that.

All the clothes in my closet have recently been given away because I lost so much weight. Now everything is hung up and I can see what I have at a glance.
But the shoes are in 2 huge unorganized piles. My shoe size dropped a bit but most of them I am not ready to get rid of. I need to go through them, mate them, organize them and pare down to those that are comfortable and that I would reasonably wear now that I am retired.

Clothes I don’t wear. But if I get rid of them, I’ll have nothing! I need a whole new wardrobe. It sucks! The only thing I don’t need is jeans because they’re my favorite thing to buy and I just naturally gravitate towards them when I’m shopping. I just purged my underwear drawer today and now I need thongs & underwear 🤦🏻♀️

Pajamas and lounge clothes. Lately my anxiety and depression has been keeping me home bound for the most part so I’ve been living in soft, comfy jammies and clothes. They have to be super soft and cozy. When I do have to leave the house coming home and putting on something comfy is very soothing.

Scarves. The silk dressy kind. I have way too many (30+) but my rationale for keeping them all is that they take up so little room relative to other things. I also have way too many coats for someone who lives in Houston. I have a lot of scarves too. Many go back to the 80's and early 90's when I wore them to work. Mother always told me to hang onto accessories and I do recycle and wear some of them from time to time.

Same here! I still have my silk bow ties from Brooks Brothers from the mid-80's that I wore with my suits. Haven't had a chance to wear them again, but I'm thinking the way fashions are going lately it will be any day now.

Coat hangers. I really need to have a clear out and send them to the charity shop. Knitwear.
I'm fairly good with my actual clothes. My rule is that if I have to stuff something new into my wardrobe then something old has to come out. We have a shared wardrobe for hanging occasion clothes and coats, but I don't pack them away for the season changes.
I'm slightly worried about where my new cardigan is going to live when I finish it, because it's going to be bulky.

I just keep seasonal clothes in my closet and the rest in the attic. I also keep pictures and scrapbook stuff in my closet. It's a good thing for digital cameras, because only 8 yrs. of photos take up so much room!
I hate fall/winter, and I don't like the way jeans fit me, so I hardly own many winter clothes. Just one pair of jeans (gained so much weight the other pair doesn't fit), a few pairs of capri sweats and a long sleeved shirts. So I have much more closet space in the fall/winter.
I have bunions, so most shoes are uncomfortable. I own one pair of boots that are about 7 yrs. old (and now have a hole), 2 pair of tennis shoes, and several pair of flip flops which are so comfortable!

Black. Black shoes and boots, sweaters, leggings, blouses, purses. I had a moment a few years ago when I realized that when I shopped I only looked at black clothes. I made the bold move to buy gray. Then I had lots of gray. Too much gray. Then I moved on to navy. Lots of navy. I have to stop buying black, gray, and navy. The good news is that I have a very good amount of classic basics in those colors so some pops of color with scarves, cardigans, and tanks that I’ve been looking for will give me a well rounded fall/winter wardrobe.

I like to shop and while I do regularly purge my closet I'd say my closet consists of a 3 way tie between:
1. Clothes that fit and I wear. 2. Clothes that fit and I rarely wear (a case of having 2 much and not enough places/events to attend). 3. Clothes that don't fit, but are within 10-20# of fitting and I still like them.

Clothes that almost fit.
A skirt suit.
A spring/fall jacket.
A fancy dressy shirt.
A couple sweaters.

I'm with you on this, but my "colors" are black, white and gray. It makes it easy to pack for a trip, that's for sure...

Clothes that don't fit me. It's the worst. I know I should get rid of a bunch but some of the stuff was expensive and I still like it. I'm working hard at losing weight now so hopefully I can get back into some of my favorites soon. I'm about a size 12 now and most of my clothes are size 8 so it's not a TON of sizes, but still a sizable chunk of weight I need to lose.

uniform tops and bottoms, we went to solid colors at work ( carribean blue) and I saved my old (worn ) in case I ever went some where else and I would have patterned tops to wear, (that was 3 years ago). Ugh, got to get rid of them !

Jeans. I don't know...maybe 20 + pairs including black and white as well as blue denim. I have skinnies, straight/slim, bootcut...dark, light...smarter ones and distressed ones...ankle length, crop and standard. I wear pretty much all of them at different times though. This is me. I'm sure I have 40 pair!! Not only that, but I have a whole storage box full of the next size up--(where I was at last year). It's still too early to get rid of those because not sure I will stay in the size I'm in. My appetite has been nil since my husband died last year. I was down two sizes--still have some of that size too! I added them to the storage shed though. I don't think I'll get that far down again anytime soon. My doctor advised me not to lose any more weight (I didn't do it on purpose!) but he didn't give me any pointers to get an appetite back. Silly guy.

Blankets!! I am the worst about blankets... I finally got rid of the crappy ones.. gift ones that are just too small, thin or cheap.. all of those went to the animal shelter plus some pillows.
There is a clothing issue.. I kinda go up and down from two sizes.. So about 1/2 my clothes fit and the other 1/2 fit sometimes. I really need to weed out stuff I just don't wear.

I just went through my closets and drawers and got rid of absolutely a bunch of stuff. The one thing that I was surprised that I had so much of was panty hose. You know, those strangling things that we used to wear to work (required to wear)? I kept a couple of black pairs that were still in the packages but tossed the rest.

I remember posting to the peas a few years ago, asking how many jeans people had because I needed to justify buying two new pairs of skinny jeans/jeggings when I already had a few that were somewhat similar. Boy, have my standards for how many jeans a person should own changed since then. lol

Black clothes. I can wear the pants and basic tops to work but I still have way too many "date clothes" in black.

Athleisure (hate that term but it fits the situation) - I have a weakness for athleta and their super soft clothes.
Dresses and other clothing I rarely wear...
