We've been monitoring my BP since late last year, it was kind of high when I went for a lady parts check. I'd been going monthly, then 3 months, and this was a 6 months "see how we are" last check.
Sigh - I'm now back to 2 months - it's higher than she'd like. So I'm to monitor at home daily (we have a cheapy BP machine that works for the most part) and she's considering meds possibly.
But because I'm over 50, I left with pamphlets for the shingles vaccine and some thing for pneumonia, and got a shot in one arm for my tetanus and the other arm for my first ever flu shot.
I know my diet & exercise need to change (especially the exercise, I fell off the running plan before holidays sigh) and that will help.
DH has been on BP meds for years, and I know with my family heart history that I may just have to suck it up and take them. Better safe than sorry!

I’m sorry you are dealing with this. I take a water pill to keep blood pressure down and so far it’s worked well for several years. And it had gotten pretty high. I use the at home monitor as well.

Ugh! So sorry. But it is better to get them if it can’t be controlled with diet and exercise.
My last check up showed a slightly elevated cholesterol which I’d never had before, so I’m trying to get on the healthy eating - exercising wagon too.

Grr. Hope you can get it straightened out.
I may have missed an update post, but wondering how your California trip went. What was your favorite thing? Anything unexpected that you did or didn't like?

Anything unexpected that you did or didn't like? I did post - it was amazing!! THanks for asking! Disneyland was my favourite - but I had the best time on the kayak tour we did with Central Coast Kayaks. Here's my post: California Trip

HBP runs in my family. fat or thin, most of us have it. i once heard one of my mom's doctors describe it as event driven high blood pressure not necessary caused by poor diet or inactivity. when i was heavier, i was prescribed a water pill to keep it in check. it's the lowest dose and despite losing weight and now bordering on low blood pressure, i still have to take it. i guess it could be worse, i could be like other people i know and have to take more aggressive BP meds that aren't the water pills.

As I suspected, you posted about your trip as I headed out on ours. So glad you enjoyed our lovely state. Way to take full advantage of all it had to offer.
The big sorcerer hat at California Adventure, that was my idea. For real. I also was involved in the building of the Pooh ride and Autopia, and the dismantling of the Country Bear Jamboree. My ds never wanted to go to Disneyland, so I have never been to California Adventure or seen either ride I built. :-( Weird kid.
