In a thread a week or so ago, there was talk of a new machine being released, supposedly on the 15th.
Was the date postponed, or was it just rumor?

I posted on another thread about the Cameo 2, it is available on Amazon for preorder. I saw the information on the silhouette school blog.

Thank you for posting the link and for the info. I wanted to know the differences, and it listed them.

Does not seem like a big upgrade to me. Me, either. I am content with the Cameo that I have.

Does not seem like a big upgrade to me. Are the new features the storage compartment, the cutter, and the touch screen? That does not seem like it is a "new" Cameo. I was really hoping it would be wireless!!!

I have a cricut, but want a cameo. Maybe for Christmas. With the new model coming out, maybe there will be great sales on the previous model.

ScrapsontheRocks, thank you for the compliment!
I can think of a few people who might really appreciate the changes offered by the new machine, particularly those who use their machines with the SD cards. For them, the larger touch screen might make the SD card feature easier to use.
Also, home based businesses who cut a lot of vinyl on rolls fed into the machine might like the blade feature. I prefer to cut vinyl using the mat, to avoid risk of damaging my blade due to user error, since I cut more cardstock than vinyl.
I don't really need the new features.
I was hoping for greater pressure which would have given it the ability to cut heavier materials, particularly leather. I also hoped for even better quality blades. Wireless would have been nice, too.

I wish they went into more detail about the USB feature. This is something that might get me to purchase it.

I wish they went into more detail about the USB feature. This is something that might get me to purchase it. As I understand it, all it means is you can transfer some designs onto a usb stick and then cut them without being connected to your computer. Sorry but it's years since I used a USB stick and to me it seems like an unnecessary extra step. That's where they should have gone wireless.

I don't feel that there are enough upgrades to warrant a new machine either. I use my Cameo for almost every card or layout I create but this, to me, is a huge disappointment. Yeah, the blade holder is cool, but storing the few extra I have in a drawer is no big deal. The larger touch screen, ok but again, not reason enough for me to upgrade.

Are the touchscreen, the blade cutter and the storage the ONLY upgrades? I saw that on the Amazon site, but I'm surprised that's all there is, and hoping there's a better description listing more improvements elsewhere. No?

huh, I am getting one for my birthday. I think I will just take advantage of the lowered price on the original silhouette

huh, I am getting one for my birthday. I think I will just take advantage of the lowered price on the original silhouette I think that is probably the best option for most people, at least until the original Cameo machines are sold out. I assume they are no longer going to be making them once their current stock is gone, but that is just a guess on my part.

Your right. They said they are "resetting", so when the stock of the current machine is gone, that is it. If the price is good, I bet they are gone quickly. There have been some great prices on them for quite a while. I wonder if the new one will be offered at that low price right away.

I'm thinking it will be easier to bring to a crop if I don't have to drag along my laptop.
If I remember it right, in the original Silhouette SD, you could put files onto a USB, but you couldn't resize and it was a real pain to scroll through the files on the USB. I'm just wondering if this has changed.

doglover didn't think about the crop angle but it's not something that would interest me. Maybe the new screen has improved things although I'm not sure about the resizing. It seems that all the R&D budget has gone into developing the pixscan mat and the 'hew' features are not really new at all.
