Add dimension by including texture on your card. You can use burlap, denim, prills (the little tiny balls of varying sizes in the center of the sunflowers), microbeads, glitter, or anything that feels textured when you rub your finger over it. You get a bonus point if you use a background stamp that you have never used before.

That is such a pretty card, scrapnnana. I love the burlap and the tiny beads in the centers of the flowers. Your stamped background looks like a whole field of sunflowers. I pulled out my old crimper and crimped a piece of dotted swiss bazzill to use as a mat for my poinsettia. The background (leaves) stamp is one I bought at the EP sale a week ago and have never used. I have only used the sentiment stamp once, and that was yesterday. I really appreciate these challenges that are making me pull out older supplies and especially those I have never used.

Thank you, nylene.
I think your crimped background really makes your beautiful poinsettia stand out. It is a lovely card, and I hope it encourages a lot of us to put our crimpers to use again. It’s a great way to add texture and dimension.
I love the challenges, too. I think that is the best part of CARDtober. It often gets me to try things that I would not otherwise have thought to do, use supplies and tools that have been forgotten, and even learn new techniques.

question - would embossing count as texture? Embossing counts in my book. If it adds texture, it counts.

okay - here's my attempt - it didn't turn out as I had hoped - the embossing folder just wasn't cooperating so I ended up cutting down one of the attempts. And then the picture is blurry, sigh

Linda , I think that's a cool idea of using the paper with the birds and putting it with the embossed birds. The color match is perfect. Did you put Nuvo drops at the bottom? They are so even. That's something I don't do well. Very nice card.

Linda, we all make cards that don’t turn out as we hope, but yours is still lovely even if it turned out differently than what you had intended.
I like the embossed birds that compliment the birds in the patterned paper.

azcrafty, I think your background looks wonderful! Your color blending is awesome. I have never used snow paste but it makes a wonderful swirly snow look to your ground. You have some beautiful stamps. I love the coloring you do. Your animals are so cute stacked on top of one another. Sweet card.
