So I am currently at La Madeline grabbing a quick breakfast by myself before running errands. I am sitting at a 4 top, because there’s only one 2 top empty, and it’s in a weird spot. There are LOTS of empty 4 tops available.
A restaurant employee is clearing dirty dishes, and she sets a stack of dirty dishes down on the end of my table to rearrange/restack them. While I am eating.
Rude, right?

ya. a bit. i would just shake my head though. i would never say anything.
i also think it's a bit rude to sit next to me on the streetcar when there are other *empty* two seater spots. but again, wouldn't say anything.

Eh, maybe not the best move. But I wouldn't let it bother me. Could it have been she was about to drop the stack and found the closest table to prevent that?

I’d say rude. Wonder whether she was about to spill/drop them and figured it better to rearrange? Even if that were the case though, what would she have done if someone had been sitting there?

Grody. Did she leave them there or just put them there to like, readjust the way she was carrying them and then removed them? If they were just left there for longer than a minute or 2 I would have said something.

Not the best move, but I am sure I have done things that other people have questioned. Hopefully she at least wiped the table for you.

To clarify....she sat the DIRTY dishes down....on my table...a foot or two at the most away from where I was eating. She took the small plates off the top and set them down. She gathered some more big plates and put them on the big stack, put the small ones back on top and went on her way. Took less than a minute.
I still think it was rude. The restaurant was not half full. PLENTY of empty tables.

It wouldn't have bothered me in the slightest. I'm not seeing it as rude or gross tbh.

The restaurant was not half full. PLENTY of empty tables. My guess was she wasn't thinking and wasn't trying to be rude. My first day bussing tables (at 14) I saw an empty table in the large buffet room and thought the people were wasteful but bussed the table. The older couple came back with their drinks wondering where their meal was (that I had just thrown out). Ha. Because I did some pretty clueless things on my first days at any/all of my jobs, I am willing to laugh at most things. Not saying it wasn't gross though.

Disgusting. I don't want to see your dirty dishes and utensils while I'm eating. Plus, my table is supposed to be clean.

I think it was rude. The table was your space and the employee shouldn't have set anything on it-clean or dirty.
I doubt the employee intended to be rude though. I don't think I would have said anything since it only lasted a minute or so.

Yes, rude but...in her defense, perhaps she felt she was losing her grip and wanted to set them down and rearrange before she dropped them

Some people just have no concept of personal space. One time I was the only patron in a movie theatre. A couple came in just as the movie started and the man sat in the seat right next to me. I couldn't believe it. We were in an empty theatre and he didn't even leave a seat between us.

Rude and gross and I would have said something for sure. Seeing other people’s have-eaten meals stuck to their plates would have made me lose my appetite.
