My MIL always quoted the old adage "The mother of the Groom is supposed to wear beige and keep her mouth shut.". My MIL heard this quote 30 or 40 years ago, when my husband was a child. She was a very kind hearted person who never wanted to step on anybody’s toes or give unwanted advice. My husband and I had a very small (7 guests) destination wedding, and sure enough, she wore beige! She’s been gone for 5 years now, and I really miss her.

Well, I'm the DIL-to-be, I guess from my perspective it would just be listen and please dont start telling random members of the family all my ideas? We're planning for spring, and I thought about growing some flowers to use as decorations. Mentioned this to MIL as she is into gardening, somehow she told an aunt who decided to phone us up and tell us that we should ask all the guests to bring a plant pot. Wtf? I'm still trying to think of ways to involve her, so I shall watch this thread

We're planning for spring, and I thought about growing some flowers to use as decorations. We attended a beautiful wedding in late summer where the bride had grown succulents to give as gifts to those who attended. Hundreds of tiny plants. The tables looked amazing, especially knowing they had all been grown from seeds.

I'm not sure we'll have time to grow much/anything, but we're meeting the vicar next week to set a date, after that, all plans are GO! 🤣

I will continue to offer my help and I hope that if she needs it, she will come to me.
