I have been calling my mom's doctor's office for 2 days now several times a day to try to reschedule her appointment. After I go through all of the prompts, a message comes on and says "your call will be answered in the order it was received". NOBODY ever answers and I've held on forever- drives me insane!

If I’ve just handed you several hundred dollars out of no obligation what so ever and your DW has just run out for pizza, the least you can do is ask me to stay for dinner. I’m going to follow that up with, if I’ve offered to make 2 memory quilts for your very young grandchildren who’ve lost their mother and you ask me to make several more for her sisters and step children, the least you can do is to offer to pay for lunch. I swear I am going to quit being nice to people! I would *very politely* state that I will only be making the quilts for the very young grandchildren. FULL STOP. Hand around long enough for the pizza to appear and eat your dinner. I have made memory quilts for people before and have stated as politely as I can to say that I can only make 2 of them. That’s my intention. I may make the mom a pillow but I’m definitely not making 6 quilts. I’m paying for everything too. We met for lunch so I could get the Mom’s/her daughter’s clothes for the quilts. I was shocked when she asked for 4 more. She obviously has no clue the work and money that goes into them.

People really have no clue to not only the work, but the emotional toil that it puts on the person making the memorial quilts. I use my accucut rag quilt pattern, to cut down on the cutting & quilting cost. (((hugs))) to you. You are a wonderful person to do this for the family.

I'm sorry she was a jerk to you, and that you had a bad day. I can relate. Hang in there!

Mel She was way out of line. There is no reason she could not tell you politely not to refer customers to them. I hope the rest of your day was better! My vent is ever since I retired in June, my MIL has has a million doctor appointments. Plus, last week we packed her up and moved her closer to us. That's awesome, but OMG, DH's brother was completely useless leading up to and during the move. I am ready to kick him in the junk. If DH calls you to say MIL is nowhere near packed enough for the movers and we are leaving town for a pre-planned trip, get your ass over there! She's 87 and frail. She won't ask for help. Did he go? Nope. He called her and she said, of course, she didn't need help. So I returned from trip, cleaned her new place Wednesday, packed for 6 hours Thursday, and helped with the movers and unpacking Friday. Rant over, lol.

I think an email to her boss is warranted. Something like "It is my understanding that your employees are punished for answering questions from the general public. In the future, when we have customers that have vault questions we are unable to answer, how would you like me to proceed?" I assume there isn't another vault company you can take your business to?

we're getting a new building addition for my department at work, with combined office spaces. currently we have cubes with high walls, upper cabinets for storage. they are moving us to these half-height walls, 4 plex (think like an open box, with a person in each corner) stations that everyone has been very vocal about hating. we don't want to see our neighbors, it doesn't help our work it hinders it. we interact very well right now, we don't need this. plus we lose SO much storage space that we've already maxed out. but facilities keeps plowing right along, giving us surveys and then deciding on an option that wasn't even in them, because this is what other departments did. we have a very specialized focus in our department, unlike any other area. what works for them doesn't work for us. it's very frustrating, even tho i know it's a very first world problem. i don't want to see 30 other people from my workstation. i don't want to hear 30 other people's conversations, see them snack, etc. sigh.

That was totally unnecessary. Your esp wasn’t working today and how were you supposed to know? Also what is a vault? A mausoleum? Basically just a big cement (or other like material) that is in the ground that the casket is lower (and sealed) into. Thanks for letting me vent, you all made me feel much better!

Is their phone number public information? I mean, could the guy have googled them and called without you having recommended he call them? I can see her being upset (maybe) if you gave out a private number. But, even so, her response shouldn't have been so aggressive/over-the-top. She could have just asked you not to give that number out again. Hmmm... good question... yep! I just googled "Burial vaults in ..." and lookie there...the first number! LOL

My local cemetery calls it a liner. It’s made out of cement and lines each plot. It has no lid on it though.

Her reaction is completely ridiculous and over the top. How hard is it for her to tell the man, “sorry, we don’t do retail direct to clients. Please contact your preferred funeral home for assistance.” That takes all of about 3 minutes. And then she gets to hang up the phone and move on with her day.
You could always call back and ask to speak to a manager and tell them about this call. They might be interested to know how their employee who handles the phone is acting.

give us the name of the vault company she works for, and we can ALL call her with random, individual questions!! Seriously, she was rude. You have NO way of knowing who THEIR company deals with or doesn't deal with. This would be so fun to prank her on Halloween. 💯 this! Put her number on here and all of us peas will call it tomorrow. I’ll take five minutes out of my day to call. I deal with idiots all day on the phone. One more wont kill me. And how the f**k are you supposed to know not to refer clients to her company???

I don't know anything about running a business or a website, but shouldn't they be aware that their number comes up first, and that they should FIX it so that it doesn't keep happening?

Our corporate headquarters decided that is what we needed, too. There is no place to put construction plans on our desks! We used to have large backup tables for this. The response was "No one prints the plans anymore. Look at them on the computer." That's great, unless you need to compare the structural plan to the foundation plan to the piping plan. It's just another reason I am glad to be retired.
