Oh my gosh! I have been a KC Royals fan forever. Through good times and bad and man have there been a lot of bad years. Well they are World Series bound!! I have no idea how I will function next week while they play.

There was serious jumping & screaming happening in my living room. I bailed out of work early to catch the last four innings and as I walked out the door all of my colleagues were wishing me luck. I live in Utah, so being a Royals fan is pretty dern unique. Last night we ordered pizza for the game and the delivery guy said "Good luck to your Royals".
SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!!!

I was in lab today for nursing school and was sneaking peeks at the box score on my phone. I may or may not be a little pumped over this.

So EXCITED! I don't have cable so I've been having to listen on the radio or watching the Gamecast on epsn.com. My parents were born and raised about an hour from KC and we lived in Grandview when I was little. I'm just so glad the WS is going to be on Fox so I can watch the games!
BUT - now the question is - will it be a repeat 1985 I-70 series or will it be the first time both Wild Card teams make it?

Watching my DH go through this baseball season has been a real hoot. He was a big Royals fan as a kid, and this is almost like re-living his childhood. Man I wish like everything I could manage to get a ticket for him.

I'm a Pirate girl but love the Royals' story this year. My friend is from KC but is also a Giants fan (lives there now). She's hoping for both in the series. What an incredible ride the Royals have had!

My DH hates sports. He took me to The K because it was my birthday this summer and it was a million degrees out, but he took me. Then we watched the Wild Card game and with each extra inning, each amazing catch, with each stolen base he has become just as big of a fan as me. <3
My heart is happy!

Before the Blue Jays were around the Royals were my number 1 team because I played 3rd base and LOVED George Brett. Hard to believe they were down 7-3 in the wildcard and then won 8 straight. So happy for them, want them to go all the way.

We are season ticket holders. We've been at every postseason home game. It has been incredible! The atmosphere can't be adequately described. My 8 & 10 year old boys are just so excited. DH and both and tears in our eyes when they won tonight. It has been such an incredible run! Wish we could have gotten 4 World Series tickets but will live watching them on TV! I was 10 in 1985. My DS thinks that means they will win since he is 10 now. I hope so!

I haven't followed baseball since the Braves traded all my favorites so I'm not even sure who is still in the playoffs...I will admit to my first thought when mention of "the Royals" was made...that it was Kate and William. LOL
I'm glad long-suffering Royals fans have something to get excited about. Good luck!!

I'm so happy for all of you Royals fans, and I have a lot of happy family back in KC! My cousin was at the game. What a thrill! I will be rooting for them to go all the way, no matter who they play.

The energy in the city these past few weeks has been fantastic. You see people wearing Royals gear everywhere. For a city that hasn't always embraced the team it's been really fun to see. I had to go to Sams Club during the game, and ended up in the TV section with the rest of the store to watch the last part of the game.
Be Royal!

Being a Cubs fan, I am all for a team that hasn't won in a long time to make it to the World Series. Good for the Royals!!! But I will admit the reason I opened this thread is I thought there was some kind of announcement that William and Kate were going to one of the games. I haven't really been following the post season play and didn't realize the Royals as in the team were going to the series. Boy is my face red. Ha. And why I thought someone who is suffering from extreme pregnancy sickness would come all this way for a baseball game is beyond me. Not enough coffee, I guess.

Driving in to work this morning the stadium was still all lit up & just gave me goose bumps! So proud!!!

As a Cleveland fan, daughter of a Detroit fan and married to a Chicago Sox fan, we're so excited for the Royals!! Love having an AL Central team in the World Series!
Being in Des Moines, we usually catch an Indians/Royals game and a Sox/Royals game each year....we love making weekend trips to KC!

I'm an sports geek and just love seeing things unfold like this Royal's run because no one sees it coming. The bandwagon fills up and the energy just builds and builds and builds. Now, please, please, please for all that is holy keep it up and take down the Hated Ones (or the red birds should they pull off some crazy comeback). -your resident Dodger fan

I am so excited as well... I am from the KC area (sorta, was born there and eventually landed back there for high school during the I-70 games.)... so yeah that was a special time then.. so CAN'T wait for this series... My FB is exploding with excitement from all my KC friends (and my Cardinal's friends, as I did time in St. Louis as well.... )... Guess we will see what happens soon!

I'm almost scared to watch tonight. The giants have played really well. I would love an I-70 match up too. I read last night that 10 teams have pulled off a win after being down 3-1. I hope so!

WE GOT TICKETS!!!! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!
My SIL and her DH live in the area, and were able to purchase season tickets for next year, which also gave them the opportunity to purchase WS tickets for this year. So, they went in with another couple, which gave them a number of WS tickets to divide between them.
Sadly, there are only 2 tickets available for us, so I gave mine up so my 18 yr old son could go - he's at college right now playing baseball, so I couldn't not offer it to him. If they come back for games 6/7, though, my SIL and I decided we're going to hogtie the guys and throw them in a closet and we're going. Ha.
I will be sending cameras.

Have you heard the Denny Matthews final call? I grew up listening to him call games on AM raidio. I cried again when I heard it the first time and I admit I have listened to it more than once. There is great power in saying nothing at all. Final Call

I am not a fan of any non-kid sports, but it has been neat to be in a town where basically everyone's in a great mood for the last couple weeks! Traffic seems to flow better, even. We've watched the last couple innings of a couple of games, too, just to not COMPLETELY deprive DD(7) of what appears it's going to be a local collective memory of this time, and she really doesn't get it either, but hey - we're trying! ETA: I am bummed that St. Louis didn't pull out a miracle win, though. After all the Ferguson madness, that area could really use a morale boost, too. Plus, a real replay of the 1985 World Series would have been cool.
