He is stationed in Norfolk but lives in Chesapeake. Let me see what his plans are and I will be in touch! Oh, this excites me! Wouldn't it be awesome if our kids had Thanksgiving together? It would be indeed! And such a great thing in this big military world that it could happen.

Lucky You! Enjoy it!!!! I have had a house full of midshipmen over the holidays for four years and, even though my son has graduated, many of these same midshipmen use my house as a stop over when traveling for the Navy or just a stop in when they are around. I love that our family is expanded and I now have lots of "kids". Mostly, I found that they want a home cooked meal and the ability to sleep and decompress in a casual environment. Thanks to the military training - polite and clean bunch to have visit. Also, be prepared for some to offer to help around the house in some way. At first, I felt weird having them do something for me - but it made them comfortable and was a thank you for my hospitality. I also found that having wifi access and the ability to video chat with family members they were away from was much appreciated. Many also were focused on maintaining physical fitness and wanted to jog or work-out. We made sure that our local gym could accommodate any visitor that was interested (the gym happily gave me some visitor passes for use during their stays). Card games, flag football games, and board games were all great too.

Thanks everyone! I haven't thought of leftovers but we will get some containers for them to take things back if they want to. They aren't in basic training but this is their first duty station so they are all young and I'm pretty sure this is most of their first real time away from home. We will try to make it as fun and relaxinag as possible. Costco has the little black containers with clear lids in packages of 50 I think.

What about some yard games? Horseshoes, corn hole, jenga, etc?

Just reaching out to naby64 --- has your son made plans for Thanksgiving? The invite to my boys' house still stands. (One of them is the one married in the photo share I posted.) We talked this morning and he said they have two-three single sailors coming and would be more than happy to add your son to the mix.

Definitely football games playing on the TV and like you said LOTS of food. Containers for sending leftovers (if it's possible with their current living situation).

Wanted to add, don't let your meal become an episode of The Middle. They invite Marines for Thanksgiving and fight so much, they leave early.
