This happened to me also. Someone in Florida (I was in California at the time) was planning a wedding. I was getting all of her menus from the caterers, quotes from vendors, etc. Finally, I got a reminder from her dentist reminding her of an upcoming appointment. Come to find out I had a dot between my 2 names and she used an underscore, that was the mistake that was being made when folks emailed her. We figured it out, but I really felt like i was violating her privacy (innocently) for awhile.

Well she gave the doctor's office the number so they aren't doing anything wrong. In college our apt phone number was one digit off from the county health department. They printed something with our number on it mistakenly and we got calls forever. Callers got mad at us too and didn't believe us so we started making appointments. That finally got the health dept to listen to us. (They ignored our previous requests to change the pamphlet)

Hi Ashley! Great to see you over here! I remember that thread -- I thought it was weird at the time, and I can't believe she's still doing it. You'd think she'd care that you have access to all her information.

I have the same issue with my gmail, I don't have a dot between my two names, but she does apparently. For the past few years I have gotten her emails for vehicle maintenance, Match.com, stores she has accounts with, etc. For awhile I replied back asking each that I could to contact her and let her know I was getting her emails, then I gave up.
A couple of months ago, I received an email from an employer for a job applicant, someone had used her as a job reference. I didn't want that person affected from a non-response, so I contacted the employer, explaining the whole thing. The employer argued back with me in the email that I did know this person, I worked with her at Sally Beauty supply in New Jersey. I emailed just once more, assuring her I would remember if I moved to the East coast to work at Sally! Never heard anymore.
It's annoying but I have had my email since the beginning and I just weed through hers rather than changing mine.

I get a lady from New York's email from time to time. I have received email notices from best buy, the dmv and other places. I have called a few of the places due to the fact they were appointment reminders. I can't imagine from her real name how we would have similar hotmail addresses.
ksuheather your remedy for the phone number was awesome.
Ashley I hope you are able to stop her email. I believe we all get enough of our own. It has got to be a pain to have to slog through another persons emails as well.

I would be tempted to start replying to emails from friends and family telling them all about the amazing threesome you had the night before. I would get very graphic in the details too. LOL

That's just odd. I'd change the passwords to all of her accounts and let her figure out what the heck happened. I'd be annoyed at getting emails for her, but I'd just delete them all. I'd hope that eventually her life would get difficult enough that she'd realized she's using the wrong email address. I've been doing this for about a year now.... That's got to be a serious pain in the butt for her - you'd think she'd have figured it all out by now! I'm stumped.

The hospital has her phone number. Call them and tell them that she is mistakenly using your email and have them call and notify her. They might be willing since they have now violated the super-strict privacy law by giving you someone else's personal information. Great advice!

It has happened twice to me. Once a person apparently signed up for Facebook with what seems to be my email address but they are in China and I continue receiving emails saying that I have been 'poked' or do I want to accept people as friends. I contacted FB for assistance but they never answered OR maybe the other person got the answer, who knows. The second time it happened a person in Great Britain was apparently buying music on iTunes but I was getting the receipts which included her bank account number. There was no way for me to contact the person because I would send an email and it would be in my email box. I contacted Apple and they said they would handle it. It was my gmail account.

I remember when you posted this the first time around (and I learned a lot about gmail addresses) and I find it so odd that it keeps happening. Doesn't she miss the emails? She's lucky you are honest and aren't doing anything with all of her private info - she's crazy (and frankly sounds pretty dim witted) for not listening to you. It does sound frustrating!

I guess as an employer that's a pretty easy way to weed out applicants if they can't even get past the "put the correct email on your application" test.

It's not tonnes of emails every day.. and I've reached the point where I just laugh and look forward to telling DH when he comes home what new services the Other Ashley Calder has signed me up for. I just looked back at the FB account registrations, and the name on the account was actually Ashley Calderas.... and I'm greatly enjoying thinking about how just one letter s is the difference between me, an African American woman from NYC and someone who appears to be of Spanish/Mexican descent.

Can't reply to the hospital, it's one of those no-reply email addresses. I'm not calling anyone, because I live in Canada and she lives in the US and I refuse to pay a cent to straighten this out. Maybe you could go to the hospital web-site and see if there is a 'contact us' option you could use to email them about this? That way it would only cost you money in terms of the time it takes to write the email! I remember your posts about this and would be beyond frustrated by now with all this stuff coming through!

I keep getting someone's workout reports in my email. She has the same name as my former name, but it is not me. When I see them come in I wish somehow, someone was working out for me and I could get the credit, but my body is not showing any vicarious benefit. I thought about posting them on Facebook, LOL, but someone would figure it out.

My married name is an unusual German name, and someone in Connecticut has the same first initial and last name. I occasionally get an alumni newsletter from the college she attended, but recently got a receipt for a gym membership. I don't think it's deliberate, but it is bizarre.

The thing is, someone at the old 2Peas found her for me, and I contacted her, and she said it wasn't her. But it's GOT to be here... stuff is located in the city she lives in.. it's her NAME! I've contacted other people who've been cc'ed on some of her emails and request her to stop using my email by accident and I've never heard back. You know, I don't know. Recently, I received a phone call from a woman all upset with me for calling her repeatedly about credit card services. I was sitting there thinking "What?!?!!". She goes on to say that she understands that maybe I work from home, but that I need to stop calling her and leaving messages about this. And I told her i had no clue what she was talking about. She repeated back to me the name and number on her caller ID, and told me that if that was me I better figure out why it was happening and stop it. Well, guess what...the name and number was me. Now whether anything she told me was true or not, I don't know. I don't bother with caller ID, so I didn't have a name or number for her. But if it was true, that was my name, my phone number, my state, but I most certainly was not calling her. So perhaps there is some wonky weird thing happening and she hung up with you thinking "WTH?!?!" just like I did. Whatever the case, though, that sound super annoying. I find changing email addresses to be a big PITA, but I might consider it if the problem persisted. Sucks that you'd have to deal with that, though. That's understandable -- there are number spoofers that people use to spam phone calls and texts. I've had this happen a few times to me.

So all of this because the other ashleycalder forgets to put the s of her first initial on her email?
I'm not sure if hospital bills fall under HIPPA--since they can be sent to payees other than the patient. I did work on the legal side of disability insurance reimbursement, and HIPPA violations are taken extremely seriously by the US Government. So if there was something on that email that would be considered private, the hospital would be fined big time and in some cases, people have lost their jobs.
There is a website where you can report these violations (I've used it before) or you can just call the regional office. I looked up the office covering New Jersey. (800) 368-1019 It wasn't a big deal when I called. I reported a doctor's office that kept sending my medical info to a fax number that I had repeatedly told them not to use anymore because the fax machine was now in a public area. The fines are enormous, not taps on the wrist.
There are times I am glad my last name is very rare in the US. We have found out through issues like this that we all are actually distantly related--all from on small family in Belgium in the 1800s.
One of dh's relatives and this other guy had the same names on Facebook. Dh showed me this guy's wall. There was a photo of the guy holding his toddler son. Dead ringer for BIL and my oldest nephew. They'd be 4th or 5th cousins at least once removed.

I am having the same issue! Just yesterday I got an email receipt for payment to a hospital for this woman. I was just convinced it was some weird phishing scam until I got the hospital receipt yesterday. Seems there might be a lot of stupid people out there that don't know how to type their email address!

I have the same issue. It's someone with the same name. Her son uses it too! I still get their Best Buy rewards (he's a big spender there). They signed up for Netflix with my email. Bills, you name it! Eventually, I found a second email for them (the son) and basically told them to cease and desist. This has been my email since gmail was in beta. I do change passwords, etc at this point and unsubscribe. I even called Kmart to get them to stop sending emails to me. Her layaway notices were coming to my box and I just could not get the darn site to unsubscribe my addy. So annoying. Son said I was rude for sending an email telling them to quit using my address. I don't care. The amount of email I was getting was ridiculous. Also, at least gmail disregards the periods and capital letters. If your email is Mary.Jane at gmail, MaryJane at gmail, or maryjane at gmail, it all goes to the same place. Ugh, that really sucks! It's irritating, isn't it? Especially if you also receive emails from those same stores/sites, it becomes difficult to figure out which one is yours and which one isn't! I think the use of a period and a typo is what is causing my problem. I have the same problem. My gmail address is also first.last@gmail.com and apparently several people out there think they have firstlast@gmail.com as their email address. I regularly receive emails that are meant for someone with the same name in Spain, Colombia and California. It is very frustrating and I just wonder if these people just don't notice that they're not getting their emails? It's bizarre...

I've been getting emails not meant for me on & off for several years. I try to reply & let people know, a couple of months ago one of the people I informed replied with a thank you. She had a kind of unusual name...which within a couple of days cropped up on "Young House Love"...I connected the dots & realised the emails I'd been getting were for the builder they'd worked with on their show home. Small world!

Melissa, I do know about this on gmail. I actually wonder if Google has a bug somewhere dealing with this. I've had my gmail address since it was in Beta and you had get an invite from someone. When I created my gmail account I used a dot between my first and last name so I would think that anyone that came after me and tried to sign up for firstlast@gmail.com would have been told that the email was already in use. If someone had actually gotten it before me I would have expected to have been told to pick another username so I'm not sure what's going on but as a software engineer myself I could see a bug in Gmail somewhere along the way creating this chaos.
