Closed. Like it dark and no noise.

Closed for fire safety, even (especially) when they were babies.
My BIL does too, and it’s very likely that it saved his life when our duplex caught fire at 3:30 in the morning.

open for us- if we close the door at all, it's only mostly closed-- never all the way.
We have cats and dogs and need to hear what's going on (aka, whether they're getting into something they shouldn't). Also because one of our cats is SUPER-ANNOYING about wanting to get into ANY closed door- she sticks her paw underneath, rattles the door, yowls, etc. (and it's not that she sleeps on the bed with us, because she usually doesn't- she just wants to know that she *can* come in if she wants to, lol!)
ETA: also open because my DH is uber-cautious and if someone would ever happen to break in he doesn't want to feel *trapped* in the bedroom if the door is closed. He wants to be able to hear what's going on in the rest of the house.

Everyone's are always closed in our house ... I'm the daughter of a retired firefighter. Always have since I was a kid. When my kids were younger we used baby monitors.

Closed. We used to sleep with it open after DD moved out. After tripping and falling over the dog in the dark twice (once with injuries), the dog was kicked out of the bedroom and the door stays shut. He got used to it after the first few nights and now doesn't annoy us.

I didn't vote because sometimes it's open sometimes it is closed. It's probably open more often than not.

Open. Otherwise the cat would scratch and cry until he could get in. The dog can open the door himself LOL! This.

Open, living alone I feel better when I can hear what is going on. I understand it should be closed for fire safety but I will take my chances on my smoke detectors and feel better that I can hear what is going on.

Either. It depends on my mood and the dogs. It’s usually open unless they are driving me crazy, then I shut them out

Closed. Always have. It creeps me out to have the door open to either the hall or the closet.

We always kept the door closed. Mostly because of the cats. However, this summer our bedroom just got too hot and we decided to put a fan at the top of the stairs to bring the cooler air into our room. It worked wonderfully. Turns out the cats aren't really all that bad anymore. They were pretty excited the first night or two to have free roam of our room at night, but that got old to them quickly. Now we rarely see them unless their food dish is too "low" for their taste...as in they can see the bottom, but even that is rare because the boys make sure their food dish is topped off before bed.

Closed because the dog sleeps in my room, and if I leave it opened, he goes in and out of the room all night and keeps me awake. If the door is closed, he sleeps all night.

We have always slept with our doors closed, all of us. We don't all go to bed at the same time, so we don't want to others to keep us up. We are a noisy family I guess! And we all like it dark to sleep (so hall lights, lights from other rooms in the house would keep us awake.

Closed - it's always been closed. I've never slept with a bedroom door open, even when I was a kid.

Depends if someone is in the kitchen with the light on - closed. Otherwise - open.

Open - it rattles if it's windy and it's closed because we have the window open so we've got into the habit of having it open now. No kids at home

Closed. I am a very light sleeper and noises/movements in the hall would wake me. Plus I keep it closed to keep my dogs in - the little one thinks she is a watch dog and would go downstairs and “monitor” - bark! But when she is kept in my room she’s “off duty” and is quiet. Plus I always heard it safer to keep it closed in case of a fire.

Closed, but I've never really thought about why. I always slept with the door closed when I was a kid, so I guess it just "stuck"?

Closed for fire safety reasons. In the past 18 months there have been two significant House fires in my neighborhood. One family lost everything. That goodness no one was hurt in either.

You don’t have the Oprah option.
I would sleep with the door closed, but my red-headed bastard would dig a hole through the door /wall to get to me. Heaven forbid if he could not sleep on top of me all night.

I live by myself. I don’t think I’ve ever had my bedroom door shut ! 😳 That. And besides, both my girls (cats) would scream bloody murder if they were locked out of the bedroom!

Always opened. Same as you when the kids were little. Now we have a dog who needs to patrol the house several times in the middle of the night so she needs the door opened. And no we can't shut the door and leave her outside the room during the night. Horrors! Separation! Aliens might abduct us from the bedroom if she wasn't watching! etc! lol We must have the same dog.

Now that I live alone, I sleep with it closed and locked. I always had it open when my son lived here. Keeping it closed also keeps the cats in my room instead of letting them knock things over in the house with all the packing and disarray going on. And they all sleep on my bed anyway, so I'm sure they are quite happy about being in there.
