I have all the seasons of The Middle saved on my DVR. I've watched most of the episodes once, if not twice, but I still can't bring myself to delete them. Of course they are taking up a chunk of memory so I really need to do something as I want to try and record all the episodes of Big Bang Theory so I can watch them in order. Are there shows/movies on your DVR that you refuse to delete?

I still haven’t watched the last series of X-Files episodes from a couple of years ago, or the last season of True Detective. I guess they will live on my DVR forever. Oh, and the last season of BBT.
My eyes are always bigger than my stomach when it comes to shows I think I’m going to actually sit down and watch. sigh

Yes. The documentary RBG. I had just been diagnosed with a recurrence of an illness and was feeling pretty sorry for myself, when I watched it. She so inspired me with her tenacity around the time her husband was first diagnosed with cancer, I resolved to handle the illness differently the second time around. I implemented a practice of expressing gratitude, which has literally transformed my life.

I have several movies saved that I’ve seen tons of times and also already own the dvd and/or digital copy. But it’s so easy with them right there on the DVR. They’re for when I need something to watch, but don’t really need to or can’t fully pay attention to it.

We mostly have movies for DS that were on when they were free. We have a lot of the same movies on DVD, but it is so much easier just to hit play. Now that Disney+ is out, we will be able to delete most of them

I recorded a bunch of movies when you get Showtime and those channels for free.. So I record a bunch. I think I have about 8 or so sitting there. And I don't know why I just don't watch them. I keep 'saving' them.. For what?? End of life?? LOL.. I wish I had all of The Middle saved.. I LOVED that show. My two older kids were the same ages of their two older kids and same sex. It was funny how alike they were to each character. DH is so similar to her husband and that was me slapping down hamburgers from the hamburger joint on the table calling it good. Man I miss that show.. Sue Heck was going to get her own spin-off but apparently it really never happened.

When I cut the cable cord, one of the reasons I chose Sling was because there isn't a limit on how long you can save things in their DVR. I have some Christmas movies that I love and sometimes like to watch outside of Christmas time and those I had saved on my cable DVR. Fortunately, it was only a few months until Hallmark started their Christmas movies and now I have almost all of them saved again. I think I'm missing one yet. But last year I also found that during the Christmas season I could buy some from Amazon Prime for just a few bucks so I picked up a couple of them and don't have to take up DVR space with them. I'm accumulating $1 Prime credits to be able to buy a couple more this year. Unfortunately, one or two of my favorites aren't available on Prime and I don't think it's even available on DVD.
ETA: I am also saving a couple of episodes of The Office - Jim & Pam's wedding and the Murder in Savannah episodes.

I have 3 movies on there I won't delete: For Love of the Game, Fever Pitch, The Holiday
They come on TV often so it's not like I can't watch them but I just can't get myself to delete them.

They’re for when I need something to watch, but don’t really need to or can’t fully pay attention to it. This is me too! I go to sleep to a movie that I’ve seen over and over. So I have several favorites that I play, Jumanji, My Cousin Vinny, Wedding Date, My Fellow Americans Since I’ve seen them so many times I don’t stay awake to watch them. I have all of them on dvd, but this way it doesn’t loop the music afterwards and it just goes to regular tv. I also have the Denver/Seattle super bowl and the movie Taking Chance. And the last season of Big Bang Theory.

Not deleting doesn't happen around here. My husband deletes everything soon as it is watched.

Right now I have John McCain and Elijah Cummings funerals, and the Cabaret episode of Schitt's Creek set to save until manually deleted. I still had President Obama's first inauguration and the final episodes of The Guiding Light, As the World Turns and Six Feet Under saved until my box took a crap a year or two ago. We obviously don't upgrade very often.

I had the series finale episodes of ER and Downton Abbey saved on our Dish Network DVR. Both were locked so they wouldn't be accidentally deleted. I'm not really sure why those two in particular...
Lost them, and everything else on that DVR, in our recent switch to Comcast. And now that we have on-demand we haven't really been saving programs once we watch them.

I've done that to DH when his stuff sits there too long But why? In our case, our DVR is never above 30% full - and that is with 30-50 hours worth of stuff. It isn’t like he needs to actually erase anything, let alone my stuff, because we are in danger of being full. It is one of the very few things he does that annoys the crap out of me. There is absolutely no rational reason for him to erase my recorded programs except that he doesn’t care about them and apparently doesn’t care that I do.

Huh. It's never really occurred to me to not just go ahead and delete after watching something. Between cable, Prime, Netflix, Hulu, and on and on... can't you just find anything you want to watch?

I dont have a DVR. But I do have a VHS and 1 video tape. It’s from the 80s, and it’s my recorded off tv copy of Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas. It is THE BEST tv Christmas movie evah!!!!
If you would like to watch it there is a bootleg copy on you tube!

The first 3 episodes of the current season of the Great British Baking Show - what they are calling season 7 here in the states - isn’t available to stream anywhere that I can find. Which I found out when I sat down to finally start watching it on Saturday night and had to start the season on episode 4 because Dh erased episodes 1 through 3 even though I hadn’t watched them yet.

isn’t available to stream anywhere that I can find. Actually just after I hit post, I remembered that we searched everywhere for a movie recently that my husband wanted to rewatch and couldn't find it (free) on a streaming service anywhere. So, yeah, I guess I do get it.

I have a few favorite movies I watch when I scrapbook plus a concert. DH has dozens of music specials, some documentaries and a couple of moves saved. I wish our DVR has a filing type system so I can find my stuff without weeding through all of his. Ha!
