What categories do you use?
I have mine by season/holiday or subject (like boy related ) but then I have this category called "shapes" which everything seems to fall into...
how do you organize your die cut files?

I don't have die cut files, but I do own a variety of dies and have categories for them. For my 2x2 dies, these are the categories:
Animals / Bugs Baby Basics (circles, squares, rectangles, etc.) Beach Birthday Clothing & Fashion Holidays broken down to: Love, Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter Home Nature Kitchen (used to be cooking, but I changed it to Kitchen) School Sports Travel

My shapes category fits everything that doesn't have a specific category. I also have a phrases category that is quite large.

I have a lot more categories than that. I have some sub folders in the holiday/season folders, such as beach, camping, and July 4th under summer. I have categories such as home & family, word art, 3D boxes & bags, cards, box cards, wedding, western, medieval, and more. I have a miscellaneous folder as a sub folder under embellishments, but there are actually more sub folders (flourishes, backgrounds, tags & journaling, and more) under embellishments than any other folder category.
I have far too many designs to want to lump them all under just holidays, seasons, and shapes. My 3D boxes & bags category has gotten so large that it is sometimes hard to find a specific cutting file, so I am going to be adding sub folders to that one soon.
The more folders I have, the faster and easier it usually is to find what I want.

like scrapnnana, I have lots of folders - each season has its own folder and then their are sub-folders for phrases, cards, boxes/bags, holidays etc...

I have several of the obvious folders, but struggle with the broader categories like "accents" or all the word/sentiment cut files. I don't want any one folder to be too big because then I'll never find anything.
