This morning I would like to start the thread by sending all of the calm, easy day vibes for PolarGreen12. My goodness. I hope you were able to get good coffee before work, despite your Keurig going AWOL. May your lift be covered and may your new microwave be shiny. What a week...
destined2bmom, how's life on your feet? How is parole working for you?
Thinking of everyone who needs hugs and prayers.
Tonight I don't know what to cook. I'll check w/dh. He doesn't need lunch tmw, so he'll probably want Oyaki Donburi. He likes it a lot.
Wishing my tribal friends a day that brings good news.

The luncheon yesterday was wonderful. I had salmon with a dill sauce and the salmon was melt-in-your-mouth good. And the most delicious carrot cake for dessert. (I only ate a small portion!) We all took tags for our *Toy Shop* philanthropy so I need to buy something for a 5-8 year old little boy. Can't wait to go to shopping at Costco.
Maybe chicken noodle soup for dinner.

I am going to make a jalapeno popper meatloaf recipe I found on FB. I'll serve with green beans and baked potatoes. ETA: PolarGreen12, I'm sorry to read about the accident to the chair lift. I hope things work out okay. Maybe the wife has money? Not likely, but she has a conscience.

I did a shift at mini-kiga this morning, to help out my former partner, who has just found out she is pregnant with #2, and is having a difficult time of it. It was so much fun - just a few little boys who basically entertained themselves once I brought out the tub of matchbox cars. Even though the after school care pays better, I am beginning to think I’d rather work with the tinies again.
Dinner here tonight is an old favourite - schnitzel and Spätzle, with a vegetable which will be decided when I look in the freezer and onion gravy.

I never made spaghetti yesterday, so I think I’ll toss that stuff in the (overloaded) freezer. Today I’m thinking chicken breasts in the new cast-iron skillet. And asparagus because there’s still a TON of it here. Oh, I overbought? Wishing those of you having a hard time, better times. In particular, hoping insurance covers the chair lift, PolarGreen12.

I am making chicken soup for dinner tonight. I had plenty of leftover roasted chicken so tonight it’s soup. The soup is a mix from the grocery store. I think I just need to add chicken and water.
I need to figure out what I need to wash today as I am going to see the kids tomorrow. I will do that today.

I don't feel like cooking or shopping so there will be a great, big bucket of greasy KFC chicken on my dinner table tonight. Mashed potatoes.......yum! I could skip the chicken and just eat the potatoes.

Lol thanks scrapmaven luckily I also have a Keurig at work. I stop at Starbucks most mornings though. It’s an addiction. My barista gave me my latte on the house this morning because she heard about the accident. It happened in front of that Starbucks. Figures. Haha. lucyg So far insurance isn’t covering the wheel chair lift. We are still working on it. It’s definitely a back and forth process. Tonight I’m making a quiche with butternut squash, spinach and mushrooms. Oh and Monterey Jack cheese. Yum. Probably just have some fruit on the side.

Feeling pretty proud of myself for cooking every night this week. Not tonight! I have several errands to run after school and then we have to take DH's truck to the repair shop. On one of the trips, I'll pick up something for dinner. I read and commented on the stress thread jeremysgirl. Hoping dinner from KFC will limit some stress for you this evening. I'm still waiting for the (mythical) day when the entire dinner tribe has a stress free day. HA! Until then, I'm glad we are here for each other and able to vent and cry around this virtual table.

PolarGreen12 ....I was SO mad to read about your Dad's lift, not to mention alllll the other crappy stuff that's been happening to you! (( hugs )). On a very light (and superficial) note----your photo is GORGEOUS!!!!! We'll be going to the orthopedic surgeon today to see how my fractures are healing. I HATE going to this particular office, because the waiting room is ALWAYS packed, some people have NO phone manners, annnnnd, since it's cold and flu season, I hate being in that closed in environment with people who don't wash their hands !!!!!! Last visit, we had to hear TWO....yes...TWO different patient's phone conversations (have some MANNERS and step OUTSIDE !!!!), AND there was a young-ish girl playing a LOUD game on her phone (do her parents NOT know to tell her to SILENCE her phone?) . OMG, ANDDDD, they have a TV in the waiting room, too. Are you KIDDING me ! ?? After the dreaded appointment, we might try a new restaurant, then go grocery shopping. ANY outing is very fun for me, so I'm excited !!!! I don't think I'll be driving again for a while....ugh. Dear Dad is out of town, visiting his lifelong friends, which makes me SO happy for him. But on a selfish note, DH and I are LOVING him NOT being here!!!!! Maybe I'm a selfish, horrible person, but having my Dad here 24/7 is reallllllllllly hard sometimes! (of course, once I can freaking DRIVE AGAIN, it won't be as intense !!!!!!!!)

I've got a busy day ahead of me. Dinner is not on my radar. Dh did such a good job a couple of nights ago he is back on dinner duty for tonight since I wont be home until close to 7.
Keeping my fingers crossed PolarGreen12 that the lift will be covered. I'm sure you are dealing with policy limits, yada, yada, yada.

Hello Everyone! scrapmaven I am so happy to see you posting more! My knee is doing better. But I’ve noticed that I can’t carry a heavy bag in my right hand nor can I keep my purse on my right side. It causes my knee to hurt. But I am getting better walking on it. But I still need to rest it. PolarGreen12 You may also want to check with AARP if your dad qualifies and a social worker at the hospital to see if they could help with payment for the lift. scrappintoee You are not a horrible person for wanting time alone. It is a huge adjustment having someone that you are not use to living with; be around 24/7. I pray your orthopedic appointment goes well! sueg I am glad that you enjoyed the tinies. leannec Huge Hugs! Tonight is leftover shepherds pie.

Oh man PolarGreen12 that's awful!!! I hope you can get the insurance to cover it. Today has been a typical Thursday - housework, laundry, and making out a grocery list and menu. Dh took tomorrow off and we're headed out shopping for the day to hopefully get the majority of Christmas shopping done. So tomorrow I won't be cooking at all and the kids are completely on their own. I ended up tossing all the leftovers that were in the refrigerator and I made dinner instead. I am NOT a leftovers person at all. So I made slow roasted pork tenderloin, rice, and corn.

Oh my, scrappintoee . The arrows are so freaked out by your situation that they elected to rev up their feathers and head your way. They can be cranky at times, and while they've altered their bathing routines, some (I AM TALKING ABOUT YOU, MR. STINKYPANTS and MISS NOT POTPOURRI) are still a bit rank. But I'll caution them to stay in the background. They'll land and then you know that your sisters are thinking of you and hoping life becomes a little easier. I, too, hate the waiting room stuff. Dh is gone so that means Brussels sprouts, tapioca, sweet potatoes, and butter beans for me. I am prepared! Thanks for the thread.

Roast vegetables (carrots, onions, asparagus, zucchini, beets) with a zhoug quinoa pilaf is going to be on the table here. DS is heading to jeremysgirl 's house for KFC. For many, many years his birthday dinner restaurant choice was KFC. He tried to convince me to pick up dinner there last weekend with DH away but I declined because their vegan options are nonexistent. AussieMeg , I meant to post on the burger topping discussion the other day, there is a local hole-in-the-wall burger place that serves pickled beets with their burgers. One of the owners spent a lot of time surfing in Australia and fell in love with beets on his burgers. Last week DH asked me if I'd ever seen beetroot in the store. Say what? I was sauteing the beet greens for him when he asked. The beets were roasting in the oven. No, beetroot, he said. He listens to a lot of nutrition youtube videos while commuting (the reason we are currently vegans ), and they were going on about the superfood "beetroot". When I couldn't get through to him that there were two parts to the plant - the above ground greens and the below ground root - I made him sit down and watch the video with me. Good gravy, he really is a smart guy but had never heard what we call beets referred to as beetroot so thought he'd discovered a new superfood to add to his diet. PolarGreen12 , any chance your chair lift might be covered under your household insurance? Crossing my fingers for you that something gets worked out.

I've been working my 12 hour nights and feel lazy. Dd tells me she's going to a friend's house for chicken alfredo. I'm craving a Shepard's pie. I need to do my hair and make up to go to grocery store. But I'm also hungry for Chinese. Support local businesses, right?

It's been cold and rainy all day and I just can't get warm. Did get out and take a Pilates class this afternoon. Proud of myself for going because I really wanted to cancel and stay in my pjs all day. Dinner will be the last of the chili. No clue what DH will eat since he didn't eat the chili the first go round. Mr. Picky Pants is on his own!

DSO cooked some burgers on the BBQ for himself and DS. And for me, he cooked 4 lamb cutlets. OMG, my favourite food! They were sensational. If they weren't so darned expensive I would eat lamb cutlets at least twice a week. And BTW, lamb cutlets are very small, so me eating 4 isn't as bad as it probably sounds. I really need to cook some vegetable sometime soon. Since DD has been away, I've barely touched a vegetable. I need her back home pronto to start cooking me some healthy food. AussieMeg , I meant to post on the burger topping discussion the other day, there is a local hole-in-the-wall burger place that serves pickled beets with their burgers. I had a good laugh over your comments about your DH thinking he'd discovered a new super food! I can understand how people have never heard other names for foods. If I wasn't on this board, I probably wouldn't know that we have different names for things like beetroot/beets, capsicum/peppers, coriander/cilantro, eggplant/aubergine etc etc (Wait, do you call it aubergine, or is that a UK thing?)

It is eggplant in North America. Another funny story (cause I'm old enough to have a story about everything ), when we were first married we bought an "aubergine" leather sofa/loveseat set. DH used to love telling people it was aubergine, not purple, after I clued him in to the fact that aubergine is the French word for eggplant.

scrappintoee , how was your appointment? I've never understood people, out in public, sharing their entire life story. I carry hand santizer in my purse. Do you do so, as well? I am hoping that you'll be sharing good healing news with us. As for your dad being on vacation, that's great stuff. Enjoy the time w/your hubby and don't feel even remotely guilty for doing so. When we leave the nest don't think that our parents aren't enjoying a little honeymoon time, as well. jeremysgirl , how are you feeling now? I need to go check on your thread. tuesdaysgone , you said it perfectly. Perfectly!
