Ooohh....that is really tempting. I have an older pressure cooker (not IP) and have been wondering how well the slow cooker function on the IP works. Does it cook things well when left for the day? Or does it overcook like many of the newer crock pots?

I just bought it! I have a 6qt but feel like that is too small sometimes. My DH will be rolling his eyes at me, lol. Last thing we need. I have a $50 Amazon from my bday last December that I hadn’t used yet, score!

Or does it overcook like many of the newer crock pots? From what I read, a lot of people don't like the slow cooker function but I've not had problems with it. I kept my bigger 7 qt slow cooker but got rid of my 5qt and just use the IP on slow cook when needed. I did get the slow cooker glass lid.

Dang, that’s a GREAT deal. I’m so tempted to get a second one for the lake cabin because there are a lot of times when it would be helpful to have two there. Hmmm... There are a lot of times when we need to make a lot of corn on the cob, or want to make ribs and corn at the same time, etc. So tempting!

This is my thought too. If the meat is thawed out prior to cooking, it takes almost no time to just pressure cook it vs. having it sit in a slow cooker all day. Most roasts, ribs, etc. that we’ve made in ours is falling off the bone tender in about an hour.

Girls..... I bought mine last Christmas. Have used it 2 times and completely don’t understand the appeal. I TOTALLY WANT TO LOVE IT! What am I missing. Some expert needs to help me here! You have to just jump in and use it. Find some favorite foods or recipes that you can make in it and get your feet wet! I just made some Starbucks copycat egg bites in ours last night and they were so fluffy and good! Even my kid was gobbling them up and she ate the leftovers for breakfast today. Next time I’m going to make a double batch so we can freeze some for future use, they were so fast and easy and SO good. This recipe came with the silicone egg bites mold I got on Amazon. 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (I use the precooked bacon from Costco) 4 eggs 2/3 cup shredded cheese (calls for cheddar but we used Cojack) 1/2 cup cottage cheese 1/4 cup half & half (I used milk) pinch of salt Spray egg cups with nonstick cooking spray. Sprinkle bacon bits into cups. Add eggs, cheese, cottage cheese, half & half and salt into a blender. Process until smooth. Divide the mixture equally into the cups (about 3/4 full). Cover the egg mold with foil, wrapping it around the edges of the mold. Add one cup of water to the inner pot, place the foil covered mold on a trivet and lower into the pot. Secure the lid with the seal closed. Program for 8 minutes on the steam setting. Once the cycle is complete, allow to natural release for 10 minutes then quick release any remaining pressure. Hold the mold over the wire rack and gently push the egg bites out. Serve immediately or cool and store in the refrigerator for up to a week, or freeze for up to a month. I’ve also made the most amazing cheesecakes in my IP, but you want to have a separate silicone seal that you only use for sweet dishes. The seal can absorb some of the stronger smells and flavors from savory foods that could transfer to subsequent foods, so I have a dedicated seal that I only use for desserts.

I have more time in the morning (most days) than in the evening. We are often not home at the same time, or need to eat and run. I often work later in the evening so like to have dinner in the crockpot so everyone else can eat before I get there (DH is scared of the pressure cooker). Or we have sports and either need to eat quickly in between or we don't get to eat until after. Either way, taking half hour or more to make something in the pressure cooker isn't convenient. Those are the reasons to slow cook instead of pressure cook. I use my pressure cooker more on the weekends or for meal prep (hard boiled eggs, brother, whole chicken or chicken to shred, etc).

Thank you soooo much! I just ordered one and am thrilled. Have been wanting a second IP for a while, today was a perfect opportunity. I love to do big batch cooking and share soups, etc. with friends, so am excited to be able to make larger quantities at once, and to have a second pot to simultaneously cook brown rice. For starters. woot!

That is a great deal! That model doesn’t make yogurt, so if you want to do that, stick with one of their models that does. But if you aren’t a yogurt maker and want a bigger one, that is awesome!

Or does it overcook like many of the newer crock pots? I think that this one would overcook things like the newer slow cookers on the slow cooker function. Some of the more expensive Instant Pot models allow you to set a specific temperature, so you could do quite well with one of those and set it at the lowest safe temperature for slow cooking. As much as I love my Instant Pots, it sounds like for you and your family’s needs, a slow cooker works better.
