This is not meant to be either a trick question or a gotcha thread. I’m curious who folks are supporting at this point and why. I put Dems in the title but would be interested in who Republicans and Independent might vote for in this group of 10 on the debate stage tonight if they were thinking of voting for a Democrat.
Hopefully this can be done without the thread going left or down the drain. I would like to know which way folks are leaning and why and if the thread doesn’t go south maybe more folks will participate and we can learn something we hadn’t thought of before.
For the shy one I have added a poll.
Also if there is someone you might consider voting for that is not on this list. Let us know who and why

I’m a registered Republican, but would vote for an actual donkey rather than that ass currently in the White House. Based on their positions, I’m between Biden and Buttigieg. I’d rather have Mayor Pete just because he’s younger. I’m afraid of the age factor with the other 3 front runners.

At this point Buttigieg would be my choice but that isn't set in stone yet. I may change my mind but I will vote for whoever runs against trump. I think Biden has a good chance but I am just so sick of old white men. Whoever can win is who I want at this point.

Buttigieg is my vote. I am a registered Republican. Amy Klobachur would be my second (though I know she has no chance.)

Right now my favorite is Buttigieg, but I will ecstatically vote for whomever is on the ballot next to Trump.

i think buttegieg does not have the ability to excite the black voters.. and can't win.. but I will vote for any democrat. I am currently for Cory.. he has broad experience, is very smart and is young enough.

I like Pete! If not him then Elizabeth Warren. I don’t love the rest.

I can't get behind the public education alignments/plans of Warren and Buttigieg. Buttigieg's association with McKinsey is a horrifying thought. I didn't think much of Biden when he was VP, and not now as a candidate. I'd have to say Sanders is my pick at the moment. It's time to shake things up.

I'm a RINO (just printed out the paperwork to switch to independent). I like what I've seen of Amy Klobuchar. I'd love it if she got some more attention.

My frontrunner is Pete, also.
I saw a bumper sticker today that read, "Vote Blue, doesn't matter who." That pretty much sums up my thoughts anymore.

FWIW, I see him as an awesome VP, paired with someone more experienced & able to attack the minority vote.

Amy Klobuchar - experienced, the right age, from a state needed in 2020, and, most importantly, moderate

Buttigieg does not have the support of non-white voters. Regardless of what anyone here thinks of him, I don't think he will pull the votes from people of color that we need. I also think he'll get skewered on experience. He's been the mayor of a fairly small city and won that office with 8,500 votes. Not BY 8,500 votes, but with 8,500 total votes. He has no large-scale executive experience, no experience with DC coalition building, no foreign policy experience. He's not ready for prime time. I wish he'd run for Congress instead.
I'll reiterate my earlier statement that I strongly wish our primary system didn't rely on two states that skew heavily white and rural for the first two rounds. Democratic voters are concentrated in cities, and a large number of them are not white.
I've made my preference for a more progressive candidate known here. I still like Warren and think she can win. I'd like to see Julian Castro as her running mate. But I'll walk over hot coals to vote for whoever is the Democratic nominee and get Trump out of office.
(Unless it's Tulsi. Then I'd have to, I don't know, build a bridge over the coals or something. Much less enthusiasm.)

My picks are Mayor Pete and Amy Klobuchar.
My dream team was Harris/Kennedy but Kennedy has decided to run for the Senate and I don’t know what happened to Harris. I suspect she is going to drop out soon.
I think Mayor Pete already has the experience that he needs to be a good president. His biggest obstacle is that he is gay. Which is a dumb reason not to vote for someone.
Regardless of who the Democratic nominee is, there will be just two choices. We get rid of trump or we don’t.
So if neither my guy or gal is the nominee, I will still show up and vote to get rid of trump.
Issues are important, but saving this country from trump is just as if not more important. So while I may disagree with some positions being presented by a couple of the candidates I still will vote for them in the general election if they are the nominee.
But in the meantime that won’t stop me from pointing out what I see as wrong with their positions on the catch all thread. 😀

Amy Klobuchar is my favorite, but I will vote for anyone but Trump.
I know that a lot of people say, "I like xx but don't know if xx is able to beat Trump." I am curious how many people will vote for their favorite candidate in the primaries vs those who will vote for the person they think is more likely to beat Trump (based on media and current polls).

I was shocked as shit to hear my slightly racist 87 year old dad say that he really likes the gay guy. But if that guy doesn’t make it, his vote will go to any of the women, that they all sound great, better than any of the other men. Times are changing, that’s for sure.

I didn't answer the poll because I just don't know.
I really like Warren. I just don't know that she's electable. I feel the same way about Buttigieg. Alternatively, I really like Amy Klobuchar. I think she's moderate and practical and can do the job. I also am not sure about her electability.
They're my top three. I'm pretty much done with Biden, Bernie, and Harris. Gabbard is a flat-out no. Still thinking about Cory Booker.
Honestly, though, I'd vote for any of them at this point.

Usually by this point I have a favorite or two.
This time? Not a single one. No one stands out to me. No one speaks my language.
I know I do not want Sanders, Warren, and Harris. No way.
Other than that...🤷♀️

In order for a dem to win, you need increased turnout on the dem side, Republicans to sit it out or get Republicans to cross the aisle. In my humble opinion, only person currently running that can do that is Biden. Because Pete is gay it will cause a lot of white evangelical Republicans to turn out to vote against him.
