Hoping to get a new vacuum on Black Friday. I have a Shark now. It sucks great BUT long hair gets wrapped around roller. That thing is a total pain to disassemble and clean! They have new ones with self cleaning rollers but they have tons of bad reviews. Anyone have suggestions? Please include brand and model name or number. Each brand has tons of models. Thanks!

I have a Shark Navigator Lift Away Pro or Deluxe (the blue one) and its awesome.
I just lay it on its back and using a flat head screw driver and kid scissors cut away any tangled hair. Do that 4x a year.

Go to a craft/fabric store and buy a regular old $2-3 seam ripper out of the sewing notions section. It’s small size makes it the perfect tool for getting long hair off of the roller. Once the hair is cut you can pull it right off. I don’t even take the vacuum apart to do it (but I do unplug it first).
ETA: BTW, I too have a Shark Navigator and I love it so much more than the Dyson we used before that.

Agree with above. Just a cut the length of the roller and the hair comes right off. No need to disassemble.

What about a roomba and then you can also use your shark?

I have a Shark too. Love it. The hair thing I think is universal with any vacuum. I just tip it over and cut off the strands every once in awhile. I do not take apart.

I agree with the others about cutting off the hair from the roller, not disassembling the roller from the vacuum.

Shark now has a self cleaning brushroller. I'm so mad, I just bought my Shark last year and now they come out with this. My only beef with my vacuum is cleaning the hair off the roller. I do it everytime I vacuum, with 2 DDs and 2 cats. m.sharkclean.com/technology/self-cleaning-brushroll/
