@sunnycalimom- I've always had vertical and today I twisted one to get it turned right, like I've done a million times- and it snapped off. It broke the slat just enough so it won't snap back on, so now I guess they have to come down. I have called about a replacement slat, but not sure if it's worth it.

Panel sliders work really well. They are like gigantic verticals and you would only have 3-4 of them depending on the width of your window. We replaced vertical blinds with these in our old house and loved them so installed them in our new build too. fairpriceblinds.com.au/interior-inside-blinds/panel-glide-blinds/ this sort of thing. You can have them opening to the left or right or in the middle.

I have vertical pleated shades on both my patio doors. link They slide open/closed very easily. They take up maybe 5" when opened. I love them! I hated my French door. I replaced it with a patio door. It was always in the way when it was open. This is exactly what we have at home too. Takes up almost no space when they’re pushed to the side.

Our current blinds have been "fixed" by my husband and they are incredibly awkward to open and close. The type we purchased (not long ago) are discontinued. I care more about function than look. For that reason, I don't want any fabric in my kitchen. Our neighbors are very close and I like full privacy.

We've had the blinds between the glass for many, many years. However, we've stayed at a couple AirBnBs with the window cling (like the links in this thread) and it was surprisingly attractive. I'd seriously consider it instead of either blinds or curtains (both of which I really, really, do not like).
I even asked one of the owners about it and she said she got the cling at Home Depot and put it on herself!

This isn’t a solution unless you’re replacing, but our new to us house has mini blinds built inside the windows on the sliding glass doors and in the living room. They are so brilliant. I don’t know why all doors and windows don’t have them standard. You never have to clean the blinds!!! I had never seen anything like it before.

The cling stuff was WAY cheaper on Amazon than I could find it locally and there are a ton of choices. We put it on the one tiny window in our bathroom at the lake. You can see a very distorted shadow if you are outside and someone is inside with the lights on. You can tell someone is moving around in there, but you can’t see who it is or any details. I like that the light can still come through that window because otherwise it’s a pretty dark room.

I would imagine that they would be. We had them custom made but most blind places here do them. We can also buy them from the big hardware stores and homewares places.

I've got a sun porch with sliders on three sides. Each side has 2 sets of blinds. I cannot stand them because if they're not pulled exactly right they twist and break. Plus, the kids are less careful, which doesn't help. This thread is making me want to rip them all out this summer and put in curtains! #goals

I went to Lowes today and bought this kit. I used one of the repair tabs and it was fixed in 2 seconds. I still hate them, but at least there's not one missing anymore!

Did the hole that snaps into the carrier break. Just turn the blind upside down and have your dh make another hole on that end. You can then snap it back into place.
