wayyyyy back in the day I used to make exploding boxes that I glued photos of then baby DD (now 13) to and sent to the grandparents. DS wants an overwatch birthday party and I thought I might make explosion boxes that look like loot boxes. Only issue is I need them to fold flat for mailing- not something my old friend the explosion box does. I haven't scrapped in years, is there a die cut out there that would make a box that folds flat? I do have a cricut I'm happy to dust off and use if they have an image that I can use.
Any info would be appreciated.

I was just thinking-I have a cut file for the box, (I think) but while they will go flat, they would have to be mailed in the size they were cut, and for mine that is 12x12, for the biggest layer. The lid though, that is the problem. Tucking the "leaves" up into the lid gives it the box shape, so you need the lid to make it a box and the lid cannot be flat. Hopefully that makes sense and is not all gibberish.

Explosion boxes can be of any size. The lid, in order to be mailed flat, should be either pinched or cut at the corners for flat mailing. The recipient would then have to have the wherewithal to assemble. I mail mine fully assembled in a sturdy box. I don't send very many, most are just handed over.

The recipient would then have to have the wherewithal to assemble. I think that is the challenge, as they would be an invitation to a party, the guest would have to assemble their own invitation. I know bethany102399 you said DS was 13, is that something his friends would find fun? Could putting it together be part of the invitation, kind of like a "maker" thing?

I was thinking that a box card might suit your needs better, too.

OK, DS has agreed this could be "cool" Now I'm wondering if it will fit in my cuddlebug. Off to measure
