My husband and I are going to Abu Dhabi and Dubai next month and are looking for suggestions on what to do/where to stay. I’m not sure how many days would be best in each city. We will only be there for seven days.

ExpatBackHome is the person to ask. She is currently living in Dubai! I've been to both, but it's been 10 years since I was there so any information I have would be outdated. Abu Dhabi was my favorite of the two, as it is more authentic IMO. Be sure and check out the Emirates Palace hotel if you have a chance.

We were there 2 years ago. The best part was the ghost town i found 90 min from Dubai. My friend and i hired a car and driver through our hotel concierge. We spent about 3 hrs out there taking photos in different sections.
We also did the 4x4 tour in the sand dunes w a dinner and show. Rode a camel for my birthday.
The photo ops in the markets were cool but the vendors were really pushy and rude. It made my anxiety and panic attacks sky rocket. Pissed me off that i missed a lot of cool photo ops.
The underground is so clean. Easy to use but ensure you buy a ticket for the correct zone or they charge you for a whole new ticket not just the difference lol
I can say i have been there but i wont go back.

I can’t remember which company we did it with but it was a hoot going out to the desert in the 1950’sconvertible, riding a camel, eating in bedouin tents, watching a native snow of hair dancers, smoking hookah, etc. the old city with the markets were amazing. Seeing all those Persian spices and the gold marker. So cool. The mosque in abu dahbi was Amazing. Skiing in the mall was super cool to ski indoors. Their malls are a site to behold. Swimming in the Arabian Sea. 4 days was enough but I enjoyed my visit.

In Abu Dhabi, the grand mosque sunset tour is awesome.
In Dubai, the Dubai mall and fountain, at the top Burj Khalifa
Dubai Mall ice skating and aquarium.
Dune bashing in the desert.
A desert show, meal, camel ride Bab Al Shams is nice.
Skiing inside the Mall of the Emirates.
I think the Frame is overrated but others like it.
I enjoy having lunch at the local place that you sit on the floor and eat with your hands. It’s one of the cheaper places to eat. The name is Al Marhabani on JBR. The chicken mandi, meat mandi and fattoush (salad) are delicious.
Miracle Garden would be nice that time of year.
The Pointe Palm Jumeirah is nice, places to eat, nice view of the Atlantis.
The Burj Al Arab, you can view it from Madinat Jumeirah. Or you can eat there or take a tour there.
I’m not that fond of the old souks in Diera. And the gold souk. You can take a cheap abra ride over. They sell spices and stuff. My in laws love it there though.
I’ve heard about the ghost town but haven’t been there yet.

There's also a cultural talk done at the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding. I haven't done it yet but it's on my list to do.

Glad I went to Dubai but wouldn’t choose to return as someone described it...it lacks soul. The dune buggy adventure was very fun with a show, camel ride, etc. got a henna tattoo. we did a bus tour and went in the tallest building...kind of boring as everything is a shopping mall. OH...forgot the best part. For my birthday, I went to the iconic Burj hotel for high tea....you must make reservations before you leave the states. You must have a reservation to get past the guard gate, DH was great and went along,,,,cost over $300 but it was a once in a lifetime experience.

Thank you guys! These are all such good ideas! I I can’t wait to check more into them. I am getting excited for my trip! I was worried I wouldn’t know what to do but this thread has been very helpful. And my husband just ordered a few books so that should help too. Thanks again!!!
