Well not that quick, it does take an hour, but no prep at all. I tried this baked onion recipe from 1808 today and it was delicious. If you don`t use links just type baked onion into U=tube and find the 1808 listing. Only ingredient is an onion. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xV9spqCzSkQAnyone else tried and liked?

Omg, my mom used to make baked onion/garlic. Who knew that baked onions was a thing? I thought just my mom made that food. As a kid I hated both of those, and I didn’t like bell peppers either. Now I like all of them.

I make have a story about the cookbook that came from. I just texted a friend who is an authority on old cookbooks.

I just knew it would be a Townsend's video. His channel is such an interesting mix of history and food.
English Heritage is another excellent channel for that kind of content.

Thanks for sharing. I love that the recipe is what I'd expect from 1808. Put whole onions in heat until cooked. I used to peel and cut onions for roasting until I saw a Jamie Oliver recipe where he sticks them in whole and peels when cooked.

I had to double check that I had onions on the shopping list because I am getting low. We are going to camp out in the yard this weekend so I think we'll try roasting an onion in the campfire.
