I just had a quote from Dolly Parton go up my Facebook feed - it was on the Ellen Show page:
"It's a place for entertainment, a place for families, period. But as far as the Christians, if people want to pass judgement, they're already sinning. The sin of judging is just as bad as any other sin they might say someone else is committing. I try to love everybody."
It was a quote from Billboard.
So I wondered, is there some controversy going on?

Dolly Parton says anti-gay Christians are sinning by judging others, and she doesn’t think people should be judgemental, saying “Lord, I've got enough problems of my own to pass judgement on somebody else.” She’s responded to questions about her Dollywood entertainment park in Tennessee, which draws in an interestingly mixed crowd of Christians and lgbti people – reflecting the fact the star herself is both deeply religious and a gay icon. In 2011 there was controversy when a lesbian couple were told they couldn’t enter unless one of the women turned her "marriage is so gay" t-shirt inside out. Parton has told Billboard the theme park is a place for all families, period. “But as far as the Christians, if people want to pass judgement, they're already sinning. The sin of judging is just as bad as any other sin they might say somebody else is committing. I try to love everybody.” Parton told Billboard she thinks her icon status in the lgbti community is down to the face she completely loves and accepts all people. “I've struggled enough in my life to be appreciated and understood. I've had to go against all kinds of people through the years just to be myself. “I think everybody should be allowed to be who they are, and to love who they love. I don't think we should be judgemental. Lord, I've got enough problems of my own to pass judgement on somebody else.”

Dolly has always spoken out in support of her gay fans. I saw her on Oprah years ago saying she thought gay people should be able to get married and suffer the same way straight people did.

I love that Dolly has a long celebrity marriage. She married her husband, Carl Dean, in 1966!

Thanks! I had no idea there had been anything said/going on. Not that I follow Dolly or have been to Dollywood, but she sure is an interesting character!

Love her, love her attitude. She's my dad's favorite singing artist ever, so we had a lot of Dolly in the house growing up .

I have loved Dolly since I used to watch her perform on the Cas Walker home and Farm Hour in Knoxville, when I would get ready for school in the mornings. She was just a teenager then, but he such a great voice. She is a good person.

I haven't thought of Dolly in years but she was my Dads favourite singer so I heard a ton of her growing up. I always thought she seemed like someone you would want to be friends with.

Love her, love her attitude. She's my dad's favorite singing artist ever, so we had a lot of Dolly in the house growing up . We used to lip sync to her records when my mom and dad weren't home. We were forbidden to touch them. I insisted on being Dolly and made my sister be Kenny. I had no clue what Islands in the Stream meant.

I heard Dolly's distinct twang while reading her remarks. I think there might be more Christians who agree with her than disagree. I'm adding a visit to Dollywood on my bucket list. Anyone gone?

Love her. She came to Rotherham, of all God forsaken holes, to promote a reading scheme a while back. My SIL met her. She was blown away by how lovely and friendly she was. Not a bit showbiz.

Our family went to Dollywood last month and we loved it. The crowd level was very low because it was the off season. We walked on to nearly every ride. We also enjoyed the shops and shows. Even my husband, who is nowhere close to being a fan of country themes or music, loved it.

While I'm not a fan of her style of music by any means, I still love her voice and think she's just an incredible person as well as a fantastic entertainer. I respect her for her philosophy and her journey and general outlook on life.
We went to Dollywood a couple of summers ago with a huge group from our family reunion and just loved it! I don't think we expected to like it as much as we did! While it is a very low-key park (not a huge number of thrill rides), there's something for everyone, and the people (both visitors and employees) were the nicest/most polite amusement park crowd I have EVER experienced. And I've been to quite a few amusement parks (even worked at one as a teen for 3 summers).
