I may be doing more online shopping this year and I thought to myself I had to remember my shipping experiences last year, good and bad, and wondered if anyone wanted to share their best and worst shipping companies they dealt with last year -
BEST: So the best I have to say was American Eagle. I placed orders with seven different companies online the same day (Black Friday) and they were the best at turnaround. Later in the season I placed another order and was equally pleased.
WORST: Worst was Kohls. Took weeks and I was a nervous wreck it wouldn't all come, they ended up splitting it into three different shipments even though I had only 4 items. I love shopping in their store but I won't risk shopping online with them again.
I also ordered through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Target, Dress Barn, Hollister and they were all great. Shutterfly is also great and I order from them every year though a few years ago I had one thing lost in transit, they replaced it immediately and the item arrived a month later so I ended up with two. But that was a fluke and I haven't had any other issues before or since.
Of note I think it was Walmart that sent things in their original packaging so I had to hide it under a blanket when they came to the door. Thankfully DD was 2 at the time and I haven't ordered from there since but I think it's important for everyone to know or to look at so they don't spoil surprises, arriving when the kids are home or worse when you aren't home but kids come home from school and it's sitting on the doorstep.

I have heard way too many horror stories about Kohls. I ordered a few things at target and used my red card to get free shipping. They kept changing the ship date and then after nearly a month they simply cancelled my order saying they couldn't get it. It was Burt's bees lip balm.
Another time at Walmart they randomly cancelled my item which was a preorder I called and they had no idea why it was canceled and told me to just reorder it. This same account was later hacked and the hacker changed my email so getting the account cancelled was almost impossible. It seems many other accounts were also hacked at this same time, canceling my account was nearly impossible. Trying to find out what credit card was attached to it was also a pain. I will not do online ordering with Walmart ever again.
Target I would try again if it was something early in the season in case I had to replace the item.
I have had great luck with amazon but have Prime but even before that we didn't have any problems and they shipped pretty quickly around Christmas.

I do a lot of online shopping with Kohls. I just remember that I don't use them for last minute things because they aren't super fast.

I have had good luck with Amazon, Target, and the Disney store. All three I felt packed the items nicely and had decent turn around time.

So far I have ordered from ESPN Store, Target, and American Girl. Awesome experience as always with all 3.
Target sent the Lionel Train directly from Lionel in brown box. From purchase to door was a week.
ESPN, who I order from a few times a year for NFL gear, was a week as well.
American Girl is always a positive experience. Took 5 days for one order to come and 6 days for the other. Always come in brown box.

Kohls is horrible with their shipping. It takes forever and they usually break it into a bunch of shipments.
My biggest pet peeve is companies that send things in the original packaging. I get that it is to save money, but I would like to know that before hand so I can be prepared. I've had a few surprises almost ruined because I didn't know they were shipping that way.

We give our kids pajamas each year on Christmas Eve, so I ordered them from Old Navy last year at the beginning of December. They didn't arrive until two days after Christmas. I was not impressed.

L.L. Bean and Lands' End always have reasonable shipping times. L.L. Bean's shipping is always free and Lands' End sometimes offers free shipping too.

I just ordered things from Amazon and I'm amazed at how fast they are arriving. They also use original packaging so I had to put DH on alert to hide the box in our room rather than leave it in the foyer. Same thing with John Madden.
Fanfantics came amazingly fast also.

I find that Target takes awhile. They are well-packed, and the shipping is free with your red card, which rocks, but I wouldn't order too close to the holiday for sure. Lego is kind enough NOT to plaster their name all over their boxes, which is great. But don't even breathe on the box because nothing can hide the tell-tell sound of Lego bricks. Man, if they could find a way to keep those boxes quiet, it would be a defining moment in their history, I tell you.

I always check the box that this is a gift so it will not be sent in original packaging (when possible.)

The only place I won't shop online is Kohl's. They are horrible! It took three weeks to ship a pair of tennis shoes. Amazon, Lands End, Macy's, and Walmart were awesome. A lot of my Walmart order came through a third party, I can't remember which one. Either way I was really happily surprised. Our DS and his family live 850 miles away, so I shipped a lot of their stuff to them directly. My DIL wrapped it for me.

Amazon, unless its wineglasses, Nordstrom, Lands End, and Shutterfly. Macy's and Sephora are a little slow.

I normally get things quickly from Amazon but I placed an order on Saturday. The items that are sold by and shipped from Amazon are not expected until sometime between December 5-17. I have never had to wait that long before. Of course, one of the items is a gift for a friend who just adopted a dog from the humane society. Keeping my fingers crossed that she doesn't remember that I mentioned the item to her months ago and buys one herself.

I order from Amazon and Disney frequently, and they always do a great job. I've only ordered from Target a few times since I'm in the store so much, but I might try to order some Elsa shoes online and have them shipped since the size I need hasn't been in stock at any of the stores I've checked at.

I am not impressed with NFL shop. Ordered DS a jersey 3 weeks ago and it's still not here. Steelers.com had fast shipping but it would have been $28 to ship at shirt to Me here in Hawaii so I sent it to my parents to send to me.

Worst ever was Sheinside. My niece wanted a sweater from there, it was cute an super cheap, but they don't tell you that everything is shipped from China. Their shipping estimates are from when it reaches the US which could be a month or so. Needless to say, it did not get here in time for Christmas.
I've never had a problem with Target or Amazon. They always seem to get things to me quickly and in good shape.

I have had good luck with Target, also. I know it is not a good "Christmas gift" store, but drugstore.com has great shipping times, too.
I haven't had good luck with MLB.com. 2 items I ordered was cancelled by them (CC was good) with no explanation or e-mail saying it was.

Can I say I am NOT a fan of UPS this holiday season. I heard a loud thud this afternoon and then a sudden knock. Opened the door and my ceiling fan from Amazon was on the front porch. I haven't opened it up yet, but they threw it on my concrete porch! So watch your packages. Worst experience with Kohls. It all eventually came. Just took a lot longer. Best luck with Amazon. Wal-Mart was okay. I'll be watching this thread. I don't do much ordering online. Glad to hear of good experience for thinkgeek.

Bloomingdale's--Fantastic!! Amazon-Amazingly fast. QVC--ok. Pottery Barn--Always prompt, especially in light of the fact that I usually order monogrammed items. Aspinal of London--they're always so great. And British! (giggle) Levenger--always great. Especially since I order personalized note cards. Nordstrom is always fast.

I've always had good luck with both Amazon and Ebags. Those were both 2 day shipping, no problems. Vistaprint, I need business cards within a week and a half, got them in less than a week.
If anybody is looking at ebags, I've been using them a lot recently, because they tend to be cheaper than amazon, you get 6-12% back at ebates, and then an additional 5-10% back with ebags rewards. And they still have 2 day shipping. If anybody wants to order from them, I can give you my referral link. It gets you either 20% or $10 off (don't remember which) and I also get a referral bonus, but I'm only recommending them because they're awesome. They'd have to be for me to choose them over amazon for bags.
