I just saw a reel about Camilla. I didn’t realize she had been elevated to Queen. I thought she was still consort. (I did google and the information is conflicting.) So after the Google search, is she Queen or Queen consort? And my original question was…if she has been elevated to Queen, does she have any power after Charles passes?

She is the Queen consort, as she is the wife of the King, but she is known as Queen Camilla. Once Charles dies, the throne will pass to William and Camilla will have no official power. It’s the same as the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth’s mother. She was the prior king’s wife, so was no longer Queen after he died.

Wouldn’t it be funny if after Charles dies, William is made king and Camilla remained as queen? Ha! That won’t happen. It’s not how royal succession works. Camilla only has her position because she’s Charles’ wife. When William becomes king on his father’s death, Catherine automatically becomes queen. |

Technically I think she would become the dowager Queen and would still be referred to as Queen Camilla but it would be a courtesy title

So what, she’s a lovely woman? She dated a married man for, what, 20 years? Yep, she qualifies in my book for the title Hag. I don't agree with the infidelity (on both Charles' and Camilla's part), but they obviously wanted to be with each other for most of their lives. Their stations in life made that difficult. After something like 30 years they finally got to marry each other. I don't blame the two of them as much as I blame the system they live in. As far as royal couples go, they seem to be truly happy. Even though I am not a fan of the two of them personally, I wish them the best. Charles seems like a spoiled brat, but I will always be happy for someone finding true love. |

I think Camilla is fantastic - she seems to be very genuine about all the work she does against domestic violence and always seems gracious and friendly to everyone she meets.
And Charles is an excellent King, from what I can see. He is so much more relaxed, chats to people, laughs and jokes with them in a way that the late Queen never did. I think the monarchy is becoming much more “current” under his watch and will no doubt become even more so when William eventually becomes King.
Yeah, the infidelity thing wasn’t good, but they are human even though they’re Royalty. It was the System that failed them - the undue pressure put on Charles by certain family members as he grew up, which meant he thought he had to conform to their ‘advice’ when it came to who he should marry. They weren’t the first people to ever be unfaithful and of course Diana was also unfaithful.

Megan is not a Royal. I don't care at all for her, so my opinion is skewed.
I think she wanted to be a Royal, until she was in the family. Then she found out that it is not all that much fun to have the press report on every tiny part of your life as well as have the overseer s tell you what you can and can't do. I also would imagine that an American commoner had trouble fitting into the family. So, she escaped back to North America but I think she yearns for what she envisioned her life with Harry would
be.

I don't think your opinion on Camilla is any worse than what has been said about Trump on this board.
I live in a country with a monarchy aswell, and our king is cool. But you should see the absolute shitshow that has been going on with the Norwegian royal family the last year alone.
I wish our monarchy would end with our current king and queen (they are in their 80's now), because the younger generations.... One married a shaman this summer, and another is facing MANY charges of domestic violence and rape (I think there are about 8 victims identified so far). A lot of things have been covered up for years, they seem to get away with murder. Our king has had a rough year. The climate is NOT in favor of a continued monarchy over here right now. The monarchy IS dumb!

I have been following the Norwegian RF news, I didn't realize the Crown Princess's son (Marius?) was considered Royal! I thought bc he was born before she married Haakon, he was outside of the royal family. Maybe I misunderstood, and he is just not part of the line of succession? I had no idea the number of his victims was up to 8.  I also followed the marriage with the shaman (ooooooh boy) and didn't the King have heart surgery this year too? He defininately has had a tough year, although I did see pics of the wedding, and thought they were pretty accepting. I look forward to Pss Ingrid being queen one day!  |

I believe that Queen Mother as a title only came into play with QEII since her mother was also Elizabeth The dowager Queen is traditionally known as Queen first name but if I’m remembering my history correctly she chose to be called queen mother to avoid the confusion of having two Queen Elizabeths And yes dowager just indicates the widow of the previous title holder If you watched Downton Abbey the dowager is the widow of the previous Lord Grantham |
