Good Morning.
How is everyone doing today?
Tearisci, how are your parents doing? How are you?
What is everyone up to today? I'm home and will be working on taxes and then I have my voice lesson in the afternoon.
Dinner will be the broccoli chicken that dh didn't make last night.
What's on your menu?
May today bring happiness, ease and contentment.

Good morning!
Today is Shrove Tuesday or Mardi Gras so we always have pancakes. This year DD requested Blueberry and I'll also make a batch of apple. And there will be bacon as well.

Hi all! Thanks for asking scrapmaven and leannec ! They both had good nights but they found my mom sitting by the side of her bed at 11:30 last night. She had gone to bed early because she was having some nausea yesterday. They said she was fine and they got her back in bed. My dad apparently doesn't have a UTI but is still somewhat confused. PT has said he was strong enough to go home but they kept him another night with his nausea. I'm guessing they will probably release him today. I spent the day lying on the couch yesterday feeling awful. The Zofran did help but I just haven't felt like eating anything. I know I need to to keep my strength up so I'll try some food today. No clue what dinner will be tonight. Thai is sounding pretty good so I might pick that up. Glad your mom is doing better leannec and I hope you get to feeling better too!

I feel bad for New Orleans as nasty weather has impeded the fun of Mardi Gras.
I have errands to run then will work on my layouts for my crop early next month.
Dinner will be Jalapeno Chicken.

Linda , enjoy your yummy pancakes and have a wonderful day. leannec , I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. Though it's good news that your mom is improving and is moving around, too. Rest and relax today.
Tearisci, I hope that your body adjusts to the new dose of Mounjaro. Just know that you have a tribe surrounding you as you support your parents.
cadoodlebug, did you ever go to Mardi Gras when you lived down there? If so, what was your experience?

I feel bad for New Orleans as nasty weather has impeded the fun of Mardi Gras. It blew through here around 5:30 this morning and I woke up to tornado sirens so my dog and I spent some time in the hall bath. It was blowing with wind gusts clocked at 74 mph at DFW. What a bad day for storms. I feel for the people of New Orleans.

Pancake Tuesday and bacon is on the menu. I also have a new cleaner coming to my place. Today is a very sad day for both Canadians and Americans. President Trump imposed a massive 25% tariffs on imports from Canada. Canada is responding with counter tariffs on American imports into Canada.
All of the USA alcoholic beverages have been pulled in almost every single province. Ontario alone spends $975 Million on American alcohol. It has all been pulled off the shelves and is being kept in warehouses with no further orders until Mr. Trump removes his tariffs.
I am so sad for my American friends that will now be taxed and will have much financial stress in their lives that is totally unnecessary.

Good afternoon all, Today I was in the city for a hairdresser appointment and when I was done I had a few things I needed to buy so I wandered into the city center. It was so fun - it’s ‘Faschings Dienstag’ here, the southern German version of Karneval - and there were so many people dressed in costumes ready to party. We had some restrictions on events after the recent car attack here (and another in Mannheim yesterday), but there was still music and dancing going on. Here in Germany we don’t do pancakes - the traditional Fasching/Fastnacht/Karneval treat is Krapfen (in Bavaria) or Berliner (most other places). These are filled donuts - the simple ones have an apricot jam filling, but there are also all sorts of fancy ones. These one I chose today was filled with apple sauce, then had a caramel topping and crushed pretzels on top of that. A delicious mix of tart, sweet and salty. Of course, being that I am Australian, I also have to remember those traditions, which is that this is Pancake Day, so we’ll be having Breakfast for Dinner - pancakes with bacon, eggs and syrup.
Some of my family back home is also dealing with dangerous weather. There is a cyclone bearing down on SE Queensland, which is where my niece, her partner and their 6 week old baby live. She said a couple of days ago that they don’t seem to be in the direct path, but this morning it changed direction, so I don’t know if it’s turned towards or away from them.

She lived with us and she taught me to cook and to do all forms of needlework. Oma used to use red current jelly for the filling. I remember picking all of the red currents in the summer to make jelly for these delicious Berliner Balls.

Thanks scrapmaven, I realized last night as I ate my fabulous dinner of Dal with Tadka that I had not been on the thread for a few days. I'm just tired and trying to keep up. There has been a weight lifted from my shoulders and some emotions are starting to wind down. I have given myself a month off of looking at bills, investments, bank accounts, etc. but I have to pull up the big girl pants and do life now. I ran into an attorney friend on Friday while I was at the bank. I was given some good advice on a couple of things that had been bothering me. I just took the weekend to enjoy the weather and look around the house. Took a turn in the backyard to find out why Scout's paws were coming back dirty on the edges. Well those sweet angel dogs were digging to see life on the other side. The youngest pup has a little head so she was able to stick it under the fence and see out but the rest of her prevented escape. I spent Saturday digging around the new holes and plotting my revenge against them. The dogs. I'll do better on staying active. My rhythm is being found. I think the dogs are settling. My DD is coming down in a couple of weekends and we will work on his office and trying to figure out things in there. She wants his desk. It was basically a large panel on 2 filing cabinets. But if she can use it and makes space in the room, then so be it. I have an entire scrap room and a desk in there. I am also really working on purging down to the smaller room. Back to where I started. That would give me a larger room to make another guest room. But that is going to take a LOT of purging and being real with what I will use and enjoy going forward. But back to the lighter side of this thread. I forgot it was Fat Tuesday and I believe I will also go with pancakes tonight. And bacon. With real maple syrup. I'll save the leftover Dal for lunch tomorrow or dinner. Oh, and to say something about the spoiler upthread. I really had meant to buy more tequila before now. I do love my margaritas. I grab the big bottle at Costco. The last time I was up there though, it was a Sunday and we live in a back water state and there are no alcohol sales on Sunday. I am just tying so hard to not say things on FB as I live in a very red state. With very red family and friends.

Happy Fat Tuesday dinner friends! I'm enjoying reading everyone's traditions. I have a Live YouTube video playing of the festivities in Venice, I love the costumes!! Tearisci I'm continuing to keep you and your parents and family in my prayers. I hate that you are traveling such a tough road with them. cadoodlebug I'm also anxious to hear if you've experienced Mardi Gras. When I worked for GE, we implemented all of the LSU hospitals and happened to be in New Orleans for Mardi Gras a few times, it was so fun! But I didn't venture to the wild party areas. We are experiencing high winds with a very high fire danger today, I don't feel that we are in a high risk area, but still being cautious, it's also garbage day, so I've collected blowing trash a few times. I feel like we are missing some dinner friends lately. Maybe I missed their posts, but it seems quiet here lately. jeremysgirl, @ryhmeswithpurple naby64 karenlou @kellym and more that I can't think of at the moment. I miss you ladies Sending safe prayers for those in the high danger areas. Dinner is ground beef, but I'm not sure how I'll prepare it, DH had burgers over the weekend at the ranch, so we might do spaghetti or meatloaf. I'll try to think of something inspiring. Have a great day everyone!

They sell a version of those donuts here called Paczki. I’ve never tried them. sueg weather is so scary sometimes. I’m guessing a cyclone is like a hurricane. It’s my last day and I’m ready to be home. We’ve had a nice time but I need my bed. We decided to have a big lunch for our dinner. I had eggplant Parmesan. I’m still really full. Tearisci I hope your nausea gets under control.

I believe Paczki is the Polish name for basically the same thing - a ball of fried batter, then filled with whatever, some traditional, like the various jam/jelly fillings and some more fancy. This year, I’ve seen a few based on the viral ‘Dubai Chocolate’ with pistachios. Yes - a cyclone is the Australian (possibly other southern hemisphere regions) name for a hurricane. They spin in the opposite direction, but otherwise just as dangerous and scary.

naby64 , sounds like you're starting the healing process and peeking your head out a bit. This is a good thing. Is it time to start thinking about what you want to do w/your spare time. What would make you happy? You can create whatever you want for yourself.
hutchfan , we can handle a second post. Not a problem, at all. BTW-I like every single poster on this thread and I appreciate that you're putting political stuff in spoilers, because, I'm trying really hard to leave the politics at the door. Though I'm not in charge here, I do feel responsible for everyone's well being while here. We have a multitude of political posts on the board and I'm trying to keep our safe little thread free of any vitriol and outside stress. I don't care who you voted for, but I do care that everyone feels welcome and safe. We've lost so many good people and I want folks to come back and enjoy the tribe.

The Zofran did help but I just haven't felt like eating anything. FWIW, my onc said lack of appetite was part of the nausea spectrum and I needed to force myself to eat something. Peanut butter banana toast was my go to on those days and I literally took hours to nibble my way through a piece. My rhythm is being found. They sell a version of those donuts here called Paczki. I've only heard about those here and always think they sound like something I should search for locally. Hope your niece and family weather the storm without damage, sueg. I have my blood work results and am thrilled to report protein levels are in the normal range for two cycles in a row. I have to swing by our accountant today to drop off the tax file that DH tried to drop off on Sunday, forgot to tell me no one was there and emailed them I would drop off yesterday. Yoga is the only other thing on the agenda, then I'll finish my book and work on my sweater. Hoping to finish the second sleeve today and start on the neck. We don't celebrate Shrove Tuesday so will honor Taco Tuesday instead with Korean Tacos for dinner.

bc2ca, great news about your blood test results. I hope you'll celebrate good news. I rarely ate donuts, but always enjoyed them. W/all of the new flavors and creativity I would love to be able to eat a donut. We have a donut shop down the street that pipes in warm custard. Oh my goodness. Pure yum.

DH and I went into the city this morning to do a few errands. I had to get more eye pills at the eye doctors. I take them to help prevent macular degeneration. My mom has it and apparently it’s very hereditary so I’m doing what I can to prevent myself from having those shots in the eye.
We are having lots of rain over the next few days. Because we also still have snow, there are flood warnings because of melting snow and excessive rain. Fingers crossed our basement survives.
Supper will be Shake and Bake chicken.

taylortroop, I was told that the eye supplements will help to stave off MD. I hope that you can read a good book while you sit out the rain and snow.

He used to be an avid reader even with the largest font on his Kindle but now can't even see that. It is hereditary and I am nervous about getting it as well.

Happy Tuesday!! In just a little bit I am spending the day with Hudson!! I got a few new toys for him that I hope he likes!! You know what he really likes, a specific wooden spoon that I have. He loves that thing!! Dinner is up in the air at the moment. Dh is on a job out of town and may not be home at dinner. As you all know, I do not cook when it's just me!! However, all the talk about pancakes makes that sound like a good idea!! leannec dang it! Sorry you are not feeling well again.

Good Afternoon dinner tribe...I am alive and almost back to 100%, Vertigo is nothing to laugh about. I am taking the med about once a day, as needed with the dizziness. Just waiting for the darn "crystals" to be back in alignment!
When I was out doing errands this morning I thought about stopping for Paczki for my DH, but actually told him neither of us needed those calories!!! For those that don't know DH is Polish through and through....and proud of it!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dinner tonight will be chicken thighs, along with balsamic glazed brussel sprouts....not sure what the other side will be, maybe a salad.
leannec ...sorry you are not feeling well. Tearisci....hope you are somewhat better. Thinking of you as you navigate your parents issues. Its not easy😕 naby64....Thinking of you as well (((HUGS))) taylortroop.. do everything you can to keep those eyes healthy...I was and still am taking 2200 mg of Omega 3. It didn't prevent my left eye from converting to wet, the injections however uncomfortable are keeping the eye stable, and I have had no vision loss!! I was being followed by my retina MD every 3 months for years prior to the left eye converting.
