We went out to eat with friends at a restaurant on a lake. (This is a man made lake.) I had no idea this place existed. The cheapest house I found was just under a million. This one if for sale. House

It looks like a 1970s office building with a storage shed in the middle

Are you sure that's not the restaurant you ate at? Because it looks like a restaurant or convention centre from the outside. The inside is nice.

If you look at the floor plan, the 2nd floor is just one long hallway.

My first thought is that it looks like a school.
Don’t like the cabinets and wall coverings, and lots of other things.
All that space and they stacked the washer and dryer?
The deck railings look really cheap and like they don’t go with the size of the space.
The beach space is nice.

I don't get it. It's like a bunch of sheds. It's not appealing in any single way.

My first thought was that the exterior looks like a school. My first impression of the first interior photo was that it looked like a lounge area of a fancy assisted living facility.
Definitely not a house for me in style or size.
The size was really baffling to me. Some rooms, like the exercise room, looked crowded. Yet you could practically waltz in the bedrooms. I don't get that at all. I don't want a sea of empty space in my bedroom. And I don't like rooms that are big just to be big.

I’m definitely getting 1970’s school vibes from that building. Very industrial. It doesn’t look warm or homelike at all.

My first thought is that it looks like a school. It looks like our local school campus. It’s boring and dull and too boxy for me.

High windows in a bedroom while the attached en-suite has a full-length glass external door and window seems a bizarre design choice!

I do not like it. If I were rich, I would not build a huge home. I would build a medium-sized, luxurious home. I have never understood why people like huge homes. I prefer cozier spaces. But each to her own.

It absolutely looks like a school from the outside. It is boring as it could be. Somebody needs to stage that place to give it some interest. Absolutely nothing about it appeals to me.

Nooooo!
The view of the neighborhood had me shuttering. I realize it's winter and will be green come summer, but that it ever looks like that is a hard pass. And I need trees.

Not for me. This is more my style. If DH and I were younger, we'd love to buy this house. It belongs to a friend of mine. House for sale

I am going to keep an eye on it and see if they sell it. To me this was built so specific for whoever had it built. It has zero appeal.

No thank you. Too much like a school on the outside, too many industrial styles on the inside. I like a warm/cozy home.

If you look at the floor plan, the 2nd floor is just one long hallway. Plus, there are 3 bathrooms on that floor but people in the game room don't have access to a bathroom unless they go through a bedroom or go down stairs.

To me it looks like a building in an industrial center that was turned into a house while retaining all the hard cold industrial vibes inside. Absolutely nothing in it says "home" to me. Plenty of windows for natural light but nearly all are up high so there is no view from them. I understand the industrial loft conversions in dense city settings. And I've seen some that have made them look a bit homey or at least inviting. Nothing of the sort here. Even the outdoor landscaping is hardline minimalism.

The only thing I really like is the 3rd floor. That would make an awesome craft/art room. Has a toilet and a sink area. Never need to come downstairs.

Similar to others... very industrial outside. That's off putting. That said there's also something to be said for the quiet. The beach area is gorgeous. Yet it might freak me out to be that isolated. Those pictures make it feel like the middle of nowhere. Initially couldn't enlarge it so I could scroll through the photos. Figured it out. The architectural drafted version of the layout intrigued me in the sense that if a person were rich & had a mobility impairment, you could make the needed adjustments. Even when it's not necessarily relevant I can't help myself - I look for universal design elements that will make it possible to adapt a home for someone who is non ambulatory.

I think it's gross. It looks like an Amazon warehouse from the outside and a sterile doctor's office from the inside. Nothing about it would entice lottery winner me to purchase it.

I don't like it. It looks very curated and cold. It looks like the house design and interior home design, were chosen based on design showcase aesthetics. It lacks warmth, charm and personality.

Two things stood out to me - the high voltage power lines (pics 3 & 11). That one is an hard NO for me. The second thing is access to the outdoor shower. You have to go through the primary bathroom to get to it. Maybe it’s just me, but if I or my guests are dirty enough to need an outdoor shower, then I definitely don’t want anyone walking through my bathroom.
