So I like to keep track of grocery costs. Instead of monthly I decided to do a 5 month difference since the tariffs were going back and forth and all around. I didn't want to go crazy with monthly data though it is easy to pull up receipts on the stores app. Anyways some things have come down (eggs by $4) or gone up some (10 to 30 cents). I add more for June 2025 as well. Sharing photos for you to look at if you want. What about your area? Is it the same as far as price changes or is it staying the same or going up or down more? I still need to add the things I get at Aldi (mainly produce). Not doing Costco this time. I had issues with food spoiling quickly.

Eggs have definitely gone down. But my grocery expenses are pretty much the same. So much for that false promise to bring prices down on day one. Lately I have found the quality of some produce isn't good. I have yet to get a really good watermelon. And I am normally pretty good at picking the sweet ones.

I only track what we spend at the grocery store in total each week, and how much of that was actually food--not OTC medications, paper products, etc. So I don't have that kind of data. My overall perception of May's grocery shopping is that prices basically stayed the same.
My totals changed from week to week mostly based on how many non-food items we had to buy, and if we opted to buy any "special" foods.

Eggs where I live have pretty much stayed the same. I don't track costs, but I was shocked the other day when I grabbed a can of my favorite store brand mixed nuts. For several years, they have been $5.99, and now they are $7.99. For a pretty small can. I keep thinking I should keep track of prices, but I haven't.

I have yet to get a really good watermelon. And I am normally pretty good at picking the sweet ones. I haven't bought watermelon as that is typically something I only buy later in the summer when they are in season and fresh where I live. But, I have bought some other fruit recently that I thought was nasty and I threw it away.

Eggs have gone down a little but still more than they used to be by about double. Organic ground beef has gone up - Sam’s had been the same price for at least 8 years now up about 16% up more at other stores. Produce seems to vary quite a bit but I don’t think it’s more than last year. We tend to buy some produce at Costco/Sam’s or Aldi.

I bought 2 mini seedless watermelons and both were delicious. We don't go through regular watermelons quick enough.
The peaches and cherries I just bought for dh and dd were really good too.
Cantaloupe hasn't been good. It's either rock hard or mushy with no good flavor.

Eggs are under $3 a dozen (down from $7), but everything else is pretty much the same, which is too high.
I work with fruit for part of my job (think slicing and cubing a dozen cantaloupes at a time) and taste test lots of fruit... the other day of the dozen watermelon I cubed, only two were great, and the rest were under or over ripe. Canary melon, honeydew, and cantaloupe were all pretty good though. I think it's too early in the season for watermelon... The watermelon I bought myself at the grocery store a few weeks ago was horrible, and I ended up throwing it out.

Shrinkflation is happening too. I noticed it when a laundry detergent I use went on clearance and the new one had less product.

One increase I find odd is canned beans. I can not do fresh/dry as they all are processed in a factory with nuts so I get canned. Albertson's has them at times for almost $3. My jaw hit the floor.

I find this fascinating. I should gather my receipts and make a list up like this. I scrapbook the price of groceries in my project life. Usually I'll take a photo but I like your list better as it shows prices across a few stores.
Eggs are still around $4.80 something. I've noticed some shrinkflation going on, too. I can't get over how much bags of chips have gone up. I can't bring myself to pay those prices.

I don't track that closely, but it seems to me like prices are going up a little on some basic products. But I also noticed that the last few times I went to Costco some of their "new" products seem like they are priced higher than they would have been in the past.

Went shopping today. I can't pinpoint when it happened, but the digestives we buy to have with tea are up from $3.99 to $4.49 at Wegmans.
Eggs were only $2.96 a dozen at Aldi.
Otherwise, we buy mostly the same things week after week, so I tend to not notice the prices unless they experience a large jump.
I might try tracking the prices this month and see what happens.

I don't bother to track it. Prices will go up and I'll either have the money or not. If something is not a necessity, I'll have to do without if I don't have the money. If it is a necessity, I'll cut somewhere else to be able to buy it. I can't believe you are tracking all this, pantsonfire.

Wow, that's a lot of work! I like it. I wish I'd done it each quarter last year and compared it to this year. I know my overall bill has increased a lot, and I can identify the increases in a couple of things, but I never really pay enough attention to the cost of individual items. I think I'm going to start keeping my receipts instead of trashing them.
It's kind of pointless tracking price of fruit and veg, they're seasonal. Cherries are going to be super expensive here in winter because they're coming from California, and a lot cheaper leading up to Christmas in summer when they're grown locally.

Wow that is a lot of tracking! Fruits are seasonal so I definitely don't keep track of that.

Cherries are going to be super expensive here in winter because they're coming from California, and a lot cheaper leading up to Christmas in summer when they're grown locally. What is interesting about cherries is last year at the start of the season they were like $8.99-9.99 a pound because of "low stock". The previous year the crops got a disease but there was never a low stock at the store. As the season went on, they went down to $5.99 a pound, and $6.99. Then towards the end back up. So I want to see if that is the case again this year. Previous years they'd be $2.99-3.99 a pound. I like to track because when there is a sale I can see how good of a sale and stock up on items we use a lot of (like ds' water) or Simply Chips. When they go to $1.99-2.50 I get as many bags as I can. It's one pre packaged item we use due to POTS. It's an easy salty snack that dd and I aren't allergic too lol

I made a post here last November about the cost of things at that time, intending to be able to compare later on, but I can’t find the post now. ☹️

Thank you! When I get home from vacation, I’ll do a comparison to now.
