My son's friend was murdered last weekend. He went outside a bar to have a cigarette and a man stole his cell phone. K ran after him and yelled for help. During the scuffle, the guy pulled out a gun and shot him. It happened about 3 blocks from ds's apartment, which is in a considerably safe area of the city (Chicago).
I'm heartbroken for his family and ds.
So furious that the guy who shot him is 22 yo and has three children. Now 3 kids will be raised without their father because he chose to be a thief and carry a gun. Of course his family goes on tv and claims he is innocent, regardless of the fact that one of his shoes was at the scene, he was caught with the cell phone and he was hiding on the platform of a closed el station.

20 years ago we lost my sisters fiance to murder and it was very difficult. The grief process is hard no mater what but this just added another layer for us. The anger was nearly overwhelming at times. I'm sorry for your loss.

How sad...and I am sorry for all of you...
I had the most interesting conversation with my mom this weekend. She is 68 years old and I asked her what she thought about Bruce, now Caitlyn Jenner's transformation. She said that when it comes right down to it, she thinks that it is sad that she had to wait this long to be herself but that she believes that everyone should live their own lives to be happy.
But at the same time, she said that what really bothers her and what she is more worried and saddened by is the 38 some people who were killed in Chicago last week. She really believes in peace and people being able to live their lives without fear...and when I read your post, I know I can truthfully say that she would genuinely grieve with you all if she knew that even tangentially she had a connection with one of those who lost their lives. I can tell you, and you can share with your friend if you think that it will help, that at least a couple of people in Florida care and are praying for her family already.

I am so sorry. Murder is always so tragic, and pointless. So many lives destroyed by one person's stupid, stupid actions. It makes me so sad.

I am so sorry. That is awful.
Unfortuntely I understand teh pain of random acts of violence.
When I was 20 my brother was 19 and was shot in the head, he was in a coma a few weeks and then died 3 days before Christmas and his funeral had to be Christmas Eve.
I am lifting your the friend and his family in prayer, friends, as well as your ds and your family. {hugs}

This is just so sad for everybody involved. The poor boys parents have to be devastated. The family of the shooter must be also devastated. And this is for a cell phone that would have given him a few bucks!!
