I've spent much of the last week working on our community rummage sale which is enormous. Today was the actual sale which runsfor just 6 hours. I didn't buy much this year; mostly some craft items (I'm in charge of the crafts department) and a bunch of lace. It was a lot of fun and it's really good for me to get out of the house. I wasn't well on Monday and Tuesday, with migraine pain and nausea, so I didn't go those two days.
However.
Over the last 2 weeks my body has been getting worse every day. My joints, particularly my ankles, knees and hips, are so stiff and achy, and the stiffness doesn't go away. In fact it gets worse as the day wears on. My back is also very stiff. Bending over is very difficult. My left hip keeps giving way. I limp when I walk. And I am struggling to walk at all. I look like I'm in my 80's, I really do. When I get down on the floor it is very hard for me to get up (and I get lightheaded). And last night I found a strange rash on my leg. I thought it might be a spider bite, but it's not acting like it. No itching and hurts a bit but deep in my leg. I think it's a symptom of sarcoidosis. I do have this. I've been in remission for a few years. The most common triad of symptoms is erythema nodosum (red swollen areas on the legs); diffuse joint pain; and lymph node swelling. Also lung involvement which can cause shortness of breath and coughing. No coughing, but I'm getting out of breath easily.
So whether this joint pain and stiffness is my sarc reactivating or something else, it absolutely sucks. I will be contacting my rheumatologist and my GP on Monday. Treatment will be either prednisone (which I do NOT want to take again) or another drug designed to suppress the immune system. I'm already on a drug for this, and about 10 other meds every day. On the bright side, I'd take these problems every day of my life if it meant I'd never be nauseated again. But of course that's not how it works.
Anyway, I'm trying to stay upbeat. Some days I'm successful, some days I'm not. I wish I could trade in my body for a newer, better working model. I got a lemon. It really does get tiresome.
