FIRST UPDATE: **GypsyGirl** - Went to Target, tonight, and found this simple, adorable dress. I still plan on looking at Penny's tomorrow, but didn't want this one to disappear overnight. It was only $25!!! OP: Looking for styles to look for for an upcoming photo shoot. I've tried dresses with a gathered elastic waist, and the gathers make it sit funny on my gut, and make it look bigger than it is. I need something that will lay nicely on the boobs, and not make me look pregnant. I need to show off the curves I have been working so hard on! Size 12. Nothing super fancy, anything too casual. Clear as mud? LOL I PREFER a B&M store, but I do have till Sept. 28th. If I have to return it for something else, though, I'll be out of luck. Unfortunately, nothing over $50. Any ideas? Thanks!

A princess line dress would do nicely for your figure. Also look at the fit and flare styles. Both of those will be fitted in the bust area and then skim your body to show off your hard earned curves! Check this one: Talbots fit & flare - on sale for just $33!

A wrap dress should work, but I also second the fit and flare suggestion.

I go for wrap styles...not ones that actually wrap but the mock wrap.

Gathered waists are of the devil. Look for something either princess lined or bias cut below the waist.

wrap dresses look great on everyone.
When shopping, watch out for high waist dresses. It's a style trend I'm seeing a lot and it's absolutely terrible for women with big chests. seriously so bad. (But all the plus size manufacturers are doing it as well as the independent pattern ladies. Why? Why? It's awful.)
Go for a flared skirt rather than gathered.

I don't think you have enough time for this event, but in the future you might check out eshakti.com - they have great dresses for this type of figure, and they will take custom measurements and customize the dresses for about 7 dollars extra.

I just checked out this website and am intrigued. The option of having it customized to my measurements would be great! Have you ordered from here before? If so, what brand or store would you compare the quality of their fabrics & construction to? KikiPea - Have you found something that will work for you? Inquiring minds want to know!

I actually like the high waist dresses - as long as the skirt below the "waist" skims the body and isn't floofy and gathered.

I'd say the quality is about what you'd expect for the price: mid-range department store. I've been happy with my purchases.

I haven't tried any on, yet, but found a few on the JC Penny website that look promising. Hoping to try them on tomorrow.

Thanks, y'all! I hope to go out looking tomorrow. I'll let you know if I find anything. I am SO excited for our 20 (+) year anniversary (Married 21 in October. I wanted to get these done before that anniversary.) photo shoot, and want to look perfect! It will be a while, before we have one, again.

Wrap dresses do NOT look good on everyone.

I've used them a few times and they have been very hit and miss for me. My daughter got a great dress out of them. I got one I liked ok, and two that I hated, and they were tailored. For one, I asked them to add 3/4 length sleeves. They were sheer. Nowhere did it say they were going to add sheer sleeves. I gave that dress to my daughter. If I am adding sleeves, it is because I don't want my arms to show. I would order from them again for my daughter, but probably not for myself.
