Bearing in mind I’m English - I say Or-eh-gn. I think he says it like you do and according to the audio in the post below, you are pretty close to correct.

Admittedly I’m from Oregon, but lazily pronounce it more like Ora-gun than Ory-gun. I do too, actually, and I'm also from here. But we all kind of swallow our vowels in the middle, so that's less important  The GON at the end is the big booboo lol definitely "gun."

I pronounce it correctly because I always used to say "...GON" and then the first time I met someone from there he quickly corrected me. lol

I pronounce it correctly because I always used to say "...GON" and then the first time I met someone from there he quickly corrected me. lol I was working in a telephone customer service department when someone called from the state of Oregon. I pronounced the state Or-a-gone and he said, “It hasn’t gone anywhere!” It cracked me up and I’ve pronounced it “gun” ever since.

I have family from Oregon, Wi and they say Or E gon. They sometimes say Or E gon for the state. Drives me nuts. Yes, we in WA have some interesting city names.

I say Oregon like most of the people in the state since they are my neighbors and I have a lot of friends that live there

I live on Oregan the street. I say Oregun admiditly the e sort of runs together but I definitely say gun not gan.
People ALWAYS think I am saying Organ. I even say OreGUN like the state. and I get blank stares.. Organ? NO Oregan. UGH
