Fluff post… If you live in an apartment, would you rather have an in unit washer/dryer or dishwasher? Alternative is to have the washer/dryer in the building down 2 flights of stairs.
If you live in a house, would you rather have air-conditioning or a pool?

Washer and dryer-no question. Air condition-I currently have both and barely use the pool at this stage in my life.

Washer/dryer for sure.
In a house, I'd choose a/c - not only because it's 98 degrees with 100% humidity here nearly all summer long, but the A/C doesn't require any upkeep/maintenance when compared to a pool. You couldn't give me a house with a pool (well, ok, you could GIVE me a house with a pool - I'd just drain it and fill it with plants).

I recently downsized from a 3-bedroom house to a 1-bedroom apartment. I would choose a washer and dryer in the the apartment. I was practically giddy about having a dishwasher for the first time in my life, but turns out I only use it about about twice a month. And, even though I no longer have to go up and down two flights of stairs to do laundry, I still dread hauling my laundry down the hall. Turns out doing my laundry in a public area kind of skeeves me out. LOL

Washer and dryer definitely.
A/C. I've never lived in a house with a pool. That's not at all a necessity. A/C is unless you live in say Siberia, upper Canada etc.

Interesting replies. I used to live in a house and we did have a pool with no air-conditioning. In hindsight, I would’ve taken the AC in a heartbeat over a pool. As someone else mentioned, we barely used it. We lived in San Diego at the time and it really didn’t get hot enough for pool use until about August. By then, the kids got busy with school and other commitments. I would’ve drained it had it not been so expensive. I am now in a new city and renting for a year in an apartment. It does have a dishwasher but no in-unit washer/dryer. We have to go down three flights of stairs for that and it is only coin operated. Kind of a pain to have that many quarters on hand. It will be workable for a short time but I would definitely prefer to have that in unit instead of the dishwasher that we won’t use much with just the two of us. Something to adjust to. There is only one washer/dryer for 6 units so we will see how this works.
When we moved into our large house without air-conditioning, the previous owner commented that you don’t really need it. It is mild in San Diego but there are still certain times of the year where yes, you do need air-conditioning. Usually around late August through October can be pretty hot.

There are very few homes without a/c here. During the summers even nights are hot, no wind and no rain, you can barely survive without.
Air is a must, a pool isn’t.
Washer and dryer for sure. I would save money for a dishwasher. If I was in an apt I would buy a portable one. No way I would buy one to leave.

Washer and dryer. When I bought my condo 3 yrs ago, I didn't think I minded having the laundry room next door as that's convenient...I hate being on their time schedule not being able to do a load when I want. I hate having to wait if someone else is using it. And i usually have to pay twice as it usually leaves soap residue on my black pants.
I don't use my dishwasher much...although i do run a cycle every so often so the seals don't dry out.

Growing up I lived in an apartment. We did not have a dishwasher or in unit washer/dryer but it was in the building. We did have in room air-conditioners (but I did not have one in my bedroom.) The building did have a community pool though. As an adult I don't think I would live in a unit without a washer/dryer unless I really had to. I do a lot of laundry.
The air conditioner would depend on the climate. When I was young the first house I bought did not have air conditioning. Now that I am "old" I like comfort; but I don't mind washing dishes.
I don't think I ever want a pool again.

We own a house, I definitely choose A/C over the pool. I cannot handle heat & humidity, so there's no hesitation for my choice.

Washer and dryer hands down, I’ve never owned a dishwasher so it wouldn’t be a huge loss for me if my place didn’t have one. That don’t mean I wouldn’t like one though LOL,!
The AC/pool this really depends on where I’m living..if I was back in Texas it would be AC but now that I live in Pa I don’t use the AC all that much so I would rather have a pool. Plus I could always put a AC unit in the window if need be.

Washer/dryer for the apartment
Air conditioning for the house (I’m not a pool person, too much upkeep and I don’t enjoy swimming that much)

Washer/dryer for sure. I don't mind hand washing dishes, but I do mind schlepping laundry around.
AC for sure, too. I work at home, and I don't want to be hot sitting at my desk. A pool isn't high on my list of priorities.

No competition on either. Washer/Dryer and A/C.
Washing dishes by hand is not that big of a deal, and anytime the temp rises above 85 outside I am miserable, so AC all the way.

Washer/dryer for the apartment. Nothing sucks more than hauling laundry up and down multiple flights of stairs and then having to pay for coin op washers and dryers, ugh. No thank you. Doing dishes by hand is a pain, but they don’t cost you anything but time to wash.
And definitely A/C for the house. I’ve never lived in a house with a pool. There are only about 6-8 weeks of the year where it could really be used here. But when you get to be a woman of a certain age, having A/C is nearly mandatory for your very sanity.

Apartment - washer/dryer. I grew up without a dishwasher and did not have one till I bought my own house. And I hardly used it. But having to wait for the washer/dryer to be available, and then lugging your clothes around the apartment complex is a pain.
House - A/C. About half the homes in my area don’t have one, but man it does come in handy when we do get a hot spell. And I am someone who always dreamed of a house with a pool, but I would still pick the A/C over the pool.

Washer/dryer
Laundromats are expensive around here $2.50-$3.50 per wash load and .25/15 mins of dryer plus when it’s outside of your space accessible by others it takes more time where as when your in your own space you can multi task.
Besides I pretty much wash my dishes anyway as it takes me a week by myself to fill the dishwasher
Last year before I moved I kept track of how often I did laundry. I calculated that it would cost me a minimum of $20/ month to use a laundromat. So I knew I had at least $20/ month wiggle in rent that included a washer.

I’d rather have a washer / dryer.
I think I’d rather have a/c over a pool.

Dishwasher. I do live in an apartment with the laundry room downstairs which doesn't bother me at all. I'd LOVE to have a dishwasher.
As much as I would love a pool, A/C is a no brainer.

Washer and dryer without exception. I do not have a dishwasher and it is fine. I would hate, and I mean hate, to not have a washer and dryer in my house/apt. A shared one down two flights would not appease that hate. I forgot to vote on the pool/AC thing. I live in the northeast so not having either (and I don’t have either) would be fine. I would probably pick pool over Ac if it was a private house. For an apartment or condo I would probably pick AC. This answer is hypothetical and subject to change because I really have not ever had to make that decision.

Washer/dryer & A/C, unless you have dinner parties. It is so much more convenient to have your own washer.

Washer and dryer in home. Air conditioner in home.
I prefer washing dishes by hand, if I had a dish washing machine it would not get used(other than for storage). My warm and hot flashes require air conditioning.

I would always opt for in-unit laundry, because it's much more convenient and clean.
I wouldn't want a pool, because of the maintenance and energy cost. A/C is essential.
