The Washington Post is reporting that Peter Tork has passed away. I loved the Monkees and Peter was my favorite!

Read that he had a rare form of tongue cancer. Hard to believe he was 77! In my head, I still see them all as young band members. Then again is seems like it wasn't that long ago when I was watching Scooby Doo cartoons after school.

I've always been a big Monkees fan. I posted about this on Facebook--but we got to meet him at a benefit concert in my really small town. My DH had his tuba with him to play with friends there afterwards and after the show, Peter saw it and said, "Hey! You didn't tell me you brought your tuba" and Kevin said, "Well, you didn't ask!" Anyway, Peter asked him if he could play it and then we ended up hanging out talking with him for about half an hour. He was so nice and very laid back and gave me his handwritten set list. After I got home, I realized he'd written it on the back of a receipt he'd printed out and had his address, phone number, etc. on it.

I love the Monkees. Seriously one of my favorite bands, I used to get up at 5 am to watch reruns on Sunday morning when I was younger. Peter was my first crush, I didn’t really comprehend that he was 30+ years older then me and I was convinced I was going to marry him when I was 6 or 7. He was so sweet and funny on the show, I loved how he wore his belt buckle on the side, between that and his dimples he had my heart! My favorite episode was when Mike write “ I’m Gonna Buy Me a Dog” and he was depressed because it didn’t win some contest so Peter tries to cheer him up by telling Mike “my mom says you have the best posture of anyone she knows.”
This is sad news indeed. May he RIP.

The Monkees were my first beloved band. I was a member of their fan club, subscribed to their monthly magazine and bought everything about them that my pocket money would stretch to.
Many of their shows are on YouTube and even now I go down the rabbit hole and watch one after the other. I still have their albums on vinyl.
RIP dear Peter.

even now I go down the rabbit hole and watch one after the other. I’ve spent many an hour down the rabbit hole that is You Tube, and The Monkees are always in there. ❤️ Mickey was my favourite, but I loved them all.

May he RIP. Same! Except I had a crush on Davy. “I’m Gonna Buy Me a Dog” is one of my favorites. Just a goofy fun song. I was very sad to hear of Peter’s passing. I met Mickey years ago after a performance of Grease. I met Davy a bit later at a met and greet.
