My official retirement date is December 19th. I have "retired" 3 other times so I guess it never sticks. When I was in Williams Sonoma yesterday buying pie plates that were recommended by America's Test Kitchen (Williams Sonoma, Gold Touch {now 25% off}, which are made by Nordic Ware), I thought, "I would love to work here!". I also would love to work in a quilt shop but I am bad at math.
So, what would be your ideal "retirement" job now that, hopefully, money no longer plays into it.

My plan was to work PT at Archivers! I guess that won't work out.
I retired in June. Unfortunately, my unpaid PT job is now driving my MIL to appointments...
ETA Congratulations on retiring again! I do love it. Right now I am watching it snow and don't have to worry about the commute.

I need to get a non-retirement job, but I’m waiting until DD can be home alone after school. The problem with most jobs is that they’re far too peopley for me most days.
If I could work 2-3 days a week between about 10-2, that would be awesome.

Ideally, a book store. Two short days a week would be perfect. Because I would need a lot of free time to read all the books I would be buying !

I was thinking definitely no retail but a book store would be nice. Or I could do fundraising for our parks or oceans or something. Or something to do with food in a ‘farm to table’ situation.

I'm retired and do bookkeeping for a wine shop and bistro- 1 day a week. I get paid plus I get to sample great food.

Ticket turnstiles at Disneyland!
*My only issue is, even now, I don't want to work nights and weekend.

I wouldn't work. Instead I'd volunteer in a NICU in order to help w/the babies. It's a way to give back, since I had 2 preemies.

I’d like to work a few days a week in a book store that’s walking distance from my NYC apartment. Just a little fantasy of mine.

I also thought of a volunteer opportunity: I think I will do campaign work for the next election. I really do hope I can make a difference.

Working from home 10-15 hours a week would be ideal, but would consider something else, about same hours. One of my DD works in a HS and they are forever needing subs. I told her no to the classroom, but would work in the office or proctor AP exams. I do plan to volunteer a couple days a week when I retire, if my mother's health is stable. It is coming fast for me - most likely spring 2022.
I too would love a library or bookstore job, except for the nights and weekends.

Don't do it! Unless you like climbing ladders and lifting heavy boxes, like Kitchenaid Mixers, off shelves that are 10-12' high. Those backrooms aren't nearly as appealing as the front of the store.

Travel the world and take pictures. But that doesn't pay very will . Yarn store, but those are hard to find. It would be fun to be able to get paid to crochet while the store is quiet.

I plan on giving notice shortly after the new year, so I'm done by the end of January!! The plan is no job at all. I currently only work 3 days/week and the pay is pretty good ( banker, mostly commercial lending). I like my job and the people I work with, I just don't feel like working outside the home anymore. I am thinking of doing some volunteering with an organization my DS is involved with.....

I would love to volunteer at the local humane society. But I am afraid I’ll bring them all home. I would also love to work in a bookstore or art store, but like others I don’t want to work nights or weekends. I thought of a college bookstore, but I am sure those jobs go to students. I’ll probably end up not working, taking local classes and volunteering somewhere.

I will do some volunteering. But no nights and weekends. Years of nursing and I have paid my dues with that. If I could workin a little store that would be nice, but I have kids that work retail and I know there is no such thing as not working weekends in retail around here.

I would love to do a podcast with lots of guests talking about what it is like living day to day with bipolar disorder. Maybe have it with a therapist co host. I have a friend who I think would make a lovely cohost who also suffers from bipolar. I don't want it too much like therapy. I want people to see the good, bad, and silly about mental illness.

Teaching small children (like 4-7 year olds) something fun — like nature school. Or art classes. I wouldn't mind a bookstore either.

Probably volunteer work of some kind like at citizen’s advice bureau or our local hospice shop.

I will retire in 4 more years! I already work (very) part time (only 4 hours a week) tutoring ACT and SAT test prep. I'll probably continue that in retirement. I like working one on one with that age group and it's very encouraging seeing them making strides as they get ready for the test.
Any post-retirement job should be low-stress and high-reward and tutoring is that for me.

My post-retirement job will be landlord (my mom owns several rental properties). Becoming a Master Gardener is first on my list of things to do when I retire though. I might also like to work in an art museum.
