Birkenstocks! I love 'em.
I have 2 pair, and they are both the thong type, but each a different style. I have the Mayeri and the Gizeh.
I'm thinking of getting a pair that do not have the thong in them, but are more the slide in type. I'm looking at either the Salina or the Granada.
Does anyone have both types - the thong and no thong type sandal? What do you like about either one? Are the non-thong ones hard to keep on? It's not like I'm running a race in them, but I don't like a shoe that falls off as I walk.

Just saw the black thong type at Costco for $30. Probably should've given them a second look, but I was on a mission to get in and out.
ETA: I know they also posted on an IG page and I went to take a look and it's picturing the non-thong type, so I was likely wrong.

Just saw the black thong type at Costco for $30 wow - any birks for $30 would be a score!!! they are minimum about $130 here for any that aren't those one strap slide/flip flop style (which are about $105). i have the thong ones (gizeh) and love them! i got DD the arizona (two straps, no toe thong... jesus style) for christmas and she takes the same size as me. i have worn hers but admit, i do find them a little more slip off-y.... like i gotta scrunch my toes more??

I don’t currently have any anymore but in my teens I loved my Birkenstock sandals. They lasted forever!! I think I was 14 when I got them and I finally had to toss them in my mid 30s. I also use to love the Boston’s. Ah man I think I know what I’m buying next. Enablers!

I have the kind without a strap between my toes. I can’t compare them to the strap kind, but they don’t slip off. I love them. I wear them all the time and have no issues walking in them.

I have the Arizona style and a style that just has one strap across the top of the foot (Madrid, maybe?), and I don’t have any issues with them slipping off my feet. Love them both!

I have black Arizonas, silver Mayaris, and black Madrids with a gold swirly floral pattern on them. The Madrids are a slide style but they stay on my feet.

Back in my youth I had the Arizona Birks. I wore those shoes to shreds. Mine were purchased back when you sent in a trading of your foot and that was used to get the right footbed. Mine were perfect. However, now they use a one size fits all footbed, and it doesn't work for me as my feet are a little on the narrow side. I got some knock offs last summer and they have been great, no slipping and slopping about.

DH bought a pair when we were in Germany in 2003. Impulse buy. Didn't take them out of the box for at least a year. He developed Plantar Fasciitis and the Berks saved him! Cleared it up and he's been wearing them ever since. Finally had to buy another pair.

I have 2 pairs of Arizona, 2 Madrid, London clogs, and 2 pairs of boots. I’ve never had an issue with any of them sliding off. I’m actually looking at which ones I want to buy next 😳
I literally never stopped wearing them from when I started in the 90s. Lol. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with any of them!

I started wearing birks over 26 years ago. I own over 20 pairs. I can’t wear those between the toe types. They hurt my between the toes. They are so cute and I wish I could wear them. I wear birks 99 percent of the time, year-round. Love them!

I have a pair of clogs, two pairs of Mary-Jane style clogs (Dorian), one pair of Madrids, all of which are over 12 years old, and my current favourites purchased last summer, Sydney. Very like the double strap Arizona but the straps are a little less heavy. They are rose gold and go with just about everything. I can’t wear toe post styles at all, but have no problem keeping all these styles on. I wouldn’t drive in Madrids but can drive with all the others. I think the Sydneys are the ones I could walk the furthest in.

I've always wanted to try them, but I have metal allergies and most all of the styles seem to have metal buckles or rivets. I have also heard that those sold at Costco are knock-offs. Is that true?

I started wearing Birkenstock’s about 1 1/2 years ago because my podiatrist pretty much told me I had too. I have hyper-mobility in my joints so my feet used to hurt so much from that and heel spurs.
I completely wore my first pair out by wearing them all the time! They have been a lifesaver for me. She told me it didn’t matter which style because they all have the same cork footbed, so I have tried the Arizona and another sandal style as well as the clogs. I love them all!!

I love my Birks, but they aren't the first shoes I pull out to wear any more as they are all 15-25 years old. I don't have any thong style ones, they all have some sort of strap. My two favorites are one with a back strap and one with a wide stretchy red band for the strap...very comfy in hot weather and very cute (I get a lot of compliments on them and a lot of "where'd you get those", but after 15 years I don't remember the name of the shoe and the store is long gone).

I love my Birkenstock’s! I have flat feet, and have issues, and they are the most comfortable supporting shoe I own. I wear them like slippers basically.
I have the Arizona style, but would love a thong type, but they don’t fit my toes correctly (I have a very short big toe).

I've read that the ones at Costco are "Birko-Flor". They aren't knock-offs, but they are made of synthetic leather vs. real leather.

That's interesting. I've never stopped and looked at them since I knew I wouldn't be able to wear them with metal on them. Thanks for that information.

I have Arizona’s in leather, Boston in suede, and a 3 strap style in birkiflor.
I used to have Milan (LOVED the back strap!) no clue what happened to them! I’d get another pair in a heartbeat.
The birkiflor ones are a red foot bed (vinyl? Plastic?) and tie dye upper with plastic buckles. I love them!
I had the gizeh style in junior high over 35 years ago and got made fun of! Now all the cool kids are wearing them! I’d love a new pair of flips!
Lately, I haven’t been wearing my birks. Instead I’m rocking the Chaco sandals. So comfy and I throw them in the washer with towels.

I tried the slide style (Arizona, I think) and hated them. I felt like my foot was always going to slide right through. I guess I'm more of a thong gal. I ended up wearing the Mayari style for years. I can't anymore due to my custom orthotics. I really miss my birks. 😩
