While I agree that I hate that they have access to tests while the rest of the country doesn’t, I hope he recovers.

A reminder:
Paul was the only senator to vote against the first round of emergency coronavirus funding of $8 billion earlier this month. The diagnosis comes as Senate Republicans and Democrats are negotiating over a massive economic stimulus bill.
Another reminder: A concern for the deficit and debt didn't prevent Rand from voting for $1TRILLION in tax cuts that largely benefited the wealthiest.
Money for the wealthy. Austerity for the rest.

He's asymptomatic so I guess he'll be fine but apparently he's been romping around with the GOP at lunch, he was in the Senate gym this morning, used the pool, etc. There are a lot of elderly Senators, Rand may have really started something.

In a household with now 3 symptomatic people WHO CANNOT GET TESTS
And haven’t been going out and about and even isolated from my oldest who I didn’t even hug when he came home from college and is in total isolation, I hope his lungs hurt less then mine and that he recovers and changes his mind about not supporting relief efforts.

Not necessarily. He's asymptomatic now but it doesn't mean he will be in a few days time.There are numerous reports from scientists that believe that is the reason for it spreading so quickly. People carry on with normal life while at the same time they do have it but unaware that they do. LINKHow arrogant can you be to go out while you are waiting the test results? If one was concerned enough to get tested then one must have had a suspicion that they might have been in contact with someone who had it or developed it since you ( general you ) met them. Beggars belief that someone could be so casual about it. Did he really think he was untouchable? That is the whole point of self isolation and not go out if it isn't really necessary. |

“During the Senate GOP lunch today, Moran told colleagues that Rand was at the gym this morning, per two sources briefed on the lunch, and that he was swimming in the pool. Rand got his COVID-19 results back this morning.”
Prompted this response from Rand Paul’s office...
”We want to be clear, Senator Paul left the Senate IMMEDIATELY upon learning of his diagnosis. He had zero contact with anyone & went into quarantine. Insinuations such as those below that he went to the gym after learning of his results are just completely false & irresponsible!”
Here’s the thing. He had the test so he may have thought he may have been exposed unless he decided to get the test just for kicks. So why didn’t he err on the side of caution and cut out activities like going to the gym until he got the results of the test? Any logical person would.

I was just reading an old GQ article about Paul and his crazy neighbor who beat the crap out of him. I laughed out loud when someone from their town referred to the two men as “two little shits”.

This self quarantine shouldn't be looked at as protecting one self it's to protect others that are more vulnerable than you and to stop it spreading so that many of these vulnerable people won't be put at such a high risk of catching it. Good lord isn't that the same argument about getting your children vaccinated - vaccinate your child so they don't catch.....measles,chicken pox or whatever and pass it on to the vulnerable. Therefore in turn the vulnerable are protected. Change the name "vaccinations" to "self quarantine" in that sentence and you get the same result. |
