Just for fun (but really I wish it did exist)... with all the entertainers currently without work, I wish I could find a legitimate source for who someone who could sing 1 minute of a song that I could send to someone for a pick me up....whether it was a phone call or a video. And I'm sure there are copyright issues, but in my fantasy world, just one minute of a beautiful voice singing a song to someone going through a tough time is something I'd be willing to pay. Feel free to add yours or if you that it already exists please link it up. ***UPDATE*** I know this is super short thread, but I wanted to come on and thank myshelly . You know how they say to throw things out into the universe, well I'm just going to go on record, that you can come here to put your wishes. So I wanted to do this for my sister, going through chemo for breast cancer compounded by this Covid world where any help is severely limited and she is struggling. She just finished her fifth round and has one more to go (yay!) so my family and friends are just pouring it on to get her to the finish line. And so I turned to Cameo to have a message sent to her. I selected Tamar Greene who plays George Washington in the Broadway cast of Hamilton. It was a 2 1/2 minute video of a very encouraging message and then he played the piano and sang One Last Time. My niece let me facetime while she watched and it was just the most emotional moment. It was so so special. Exactly what I hoped for. So here's an update you probably didn't even need, but if you know someone going through a tough time right now, I just wanted to spread the word.

Have you checked out the app Cameo?
Lots of Broadway actors on there who list their price to sing a song in a video.

Thank you for updating, I remember this thread from when you originally posted it, and hoped that you would update if you went ahead with it. I'm so glad your sister enjoyed it.

Love this so much!! What a great idea! Was that the song you had in mind for her? I didn't request. You have about 200 (? characters) to describe your request, so I just added details so it would feel personalized. He has a couple examples on his page and he sang Who Lives Who Dies Who Tells Your Story. But I love that he chose the song he did, how perfect is the sentiment to her situation?

I actually started a thread about Cameo last November LINK Glad you were able to use it in such a positive way...especially during times like this Now here's proof that if you miss a day reading here, you can miss so much! I looked through the people for a long time and waited on this awhile. Honestly if you can put something on the short list of positive things about Covid, there's even more to choose from than a couple months ago. And some are doing this to donate the funds to charitable causes So that's a definite plus. I should also add that just before I pulled the trigger I showed it to my dh to get his opinion. He's never heard of it either. Before I even paid for mine, he bought one. He works for a tech company in CA and they won a big award. So he got some actor from the show Silicon Valley who he thinks is hilarious to send to his team and congratulate them on the award. OMG, my dh now has the biggest head from all the people telling him how awesome it was. So yes, can be super funny, but we totally utilized this in different ways and it is an awesome app!

How far ahead did you have to plan this??
DH's birthday is 5/24 and he has 1 more round of chemo to go. He missed the last 2 because his red blood cell count was way too low (they gave him an iron IV infusion instead). Things really hit him hard about 2 weeks ago (lost all of his hair, he's so anemic/weak, he seems defeated...). We have no one here, and I'm the one to go out and get emergency items we might need, but I've been down with migraines for weeks too. Sucks all around.
I'd LOVE to do something like that for DH. He was a children's entertainer (clown & magician), so he loves the arts. Great idea!
ETA: THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Just went on the app & ordered it for DH for his bday!! I got his fav actress from a soap he watches (Y&R) to sing him Happy Birthday. I'm so excited!!!!!!

Once I paid they said I would receive the video in 4 days or the money would be refunded. My husband got his video in 24 hours, mine took 2 days. It was a great pick me up today and the fact that she can rewatch indefinitely really does make for an awesome experience type gift.

DH still doesn't know how to answer his phone. Was that a mistake? I hope I can somehow forward it to him.........

@bergdorfblonde when it was ready I was simultaneously notified via a text, email and pop up from the cameo app. The email comes from Cameo and subject says Your Cameo is Ready. The text read- Your Cameo from Tamar Greene is ready! www.cameo.com/v/3eSo unless he’s familiar with what Cameo is I wouldn’t think it would jump out. You should have received an email confirmation and there is a link to modify the request and you can update it there. ——- I misread your question-yes you can forward. They send you the link to do with what you wish.

Can I ask how much it costs? It varies greatly depending on how famous the person is. I believe I paid $60, but there are people (who I don’t have a clue who they are) that are $10 and much more popular people at $500. Every category of celebrity fandom is represented-athletes, social media, tv actors, musicians, reality tv, comediennes, drag queens, impersonators, etc... There’s even a category for people giving graduation speeches.

There is so much variety and I see that many of them donate the proceeds to charity. I wonder how many times Rex Smith is asked to create a message in which he tells someone "you take my breath away"? 😄
