99 bottles of beer on the wall. 99 bottles of beer. Oh wait...99 bottles of hand sanitizer on the wall...Hi tribe. We're one month away from freedom, hopefully. Let's keep this thread a safe place to post and maybe even laugh. Of course, if you're sad or stressed please share. We're friends and we have eachother's backs.
Dinner is pork tenderloin and brown rice w/sage. I actually have 2 weeks worth of meals planned out. Of course, I'll be proud if I stick to 3 days on my schedule. hehe.
What's on your menu?
Yoo-hoo @sunnycalimom.
Yesterday we joked about being fancy and thanks to cadoodlebug, "hoity-toity". That resonated w/me, because my mother used that phrase and we'd all laugh. That lead me to think up a question. Do you prefer to entertain formally or do you like a causal-paper-plates-and-help-yourselves type of gathering? My mother was very formal and my sister is also formal. If I could entertain I would do themes and have fun decorating. I love to entertain. Unfortunately, I can't throw dinner parties. Sniffle.
Please take, extra, loving care of yourselves today. EXTRA!

One week since I arrived home from Australia, and our lockdown is going well. DH just came out of his 'office' and made a comment about life being good in the living room - I did tell him it was hard to work in child care when I can't be in the same room as the kids! I am no way confident that this will be over in a month - I doubt we will get our restrictions lifted before the end of May, despite what is being said now, and I think the US is behind us on its trajectory, so even longer.
Dinner tonight is raclette - simple, hardly any prep needed.
I used to do sort of formal dinner parties, but these days I prefer more casual meetups. I still prefer 'real' plates and cutlery if we are entertaining at home - paper and plastic is only for picnics/barbeques in the park in my mind.

My ex is coming over this morning ... awesome ... we get along but I'm just not in the mood to see him I'll be seeing my friend this afternoon to give her a ride ... her not having a car is a total PITA ... oh well I posted this on Facebook today ... I really miss theatres and restaurants ... oh, and eventually I'll miss the mall too When I entertain it's only on holidays like Christmas ... we use real plates and silverwear and do Christmas crackers (anyone else do those?) ... we do serve the food buffet style because there are a lot of people ... now that ex and I are separated that won't be happening anymore though ... I'm an only child and my mum suggested we go to Vegas for Christmas this year ... it's an option I didn't order pizza last night so I probably will have that for dinner tonight

I'm more of an informal entertainer. I have 12 place settings of our fine china that I could easily sell and not care. 65 stems of crystal. That's what happens when you marry for the first time at age 36! We're having chicken noodle soup for dinner with salad and garlic bread.

We’re having lasagne and salad - hubby made the lasagne yesterday. I tried a new recipe for an apple, apricot and walnut cake.

Hey-O! I entertain a lot. If I have a small group, I'll do a sit down dinner. But more often I have large BBQs in the summer. There is really nothing formal or fancy about me or my off board tribe. So formal never really happens here. But I love to entertain when the weather is good. We have a large deck. And our kitchen/dining room is open to the deck too. So there's plenty of place for people to mill around. I have a firepit. And we have a trampoline and a fort for the kids. My friends and family usually bring food items too. It's sort of an all hands on deck approach because most of the them don't like to entertain as much as I do.
ETA: we are eating BLTs tonight.

Good morning! scrapmaven For holiday gatherings, we pull out the China. Those are the only ones we’ve had here. leannec Hugs. You will get through seeing him. cadoodlebug I love that meme! That is completely true in our house. There are lots of times when my husband is talking to the dog or I am talking to the dog and we think we’re talking to one another because we’re in different rooms. The dog is king. sueg When you go back to work will you still have the same little ones that you had before your surgery? Tonight, I want to use the rest of the chicken but I don’t know if I want to make a soup or do a regular meal.

sueg When you go back to work will you still have the same little ones that you had before your surgery? In the after-school care, yes for the most part, as it is a fixed group. If we don't go back until after the summer break, we might lose some of our current group, but we'll gain new first graders in any case. If I go back to mini-kinder, which I am considering, it will likely be different kids, as our current ones will be aging out and going to regular kinder.

I made a pot of chili early this morning so it could sit a few days before serving. So, watch for it to appear in the future. Tonight we're having Cheesy Smoked Sausage and Pasta and roasted vegetables. Do you prefer to entertain formally or do you like a causal-paper-plates-and-help-yourselves type of gathering? I don't own fine china, unless you consider Corelle to be fine china, so you can guess which way I lean.

Happy Hump Day everyone! Amazing what enough sleep will do for you. Feeling much better today. Foot still bothering me, but I've reached the point where I can walk easily in my boot. Perhaps I'll actually accomplish something today. My church needlepoint group is going to attempt a Zoom meeting today from 1-3 pm, our regular meeting time. I haven't been able to attend since Christmas due to conflicts and health issues, so I'm looking forward to it. Will have to put on some makeup before I log on. DH hung my new bird feeder yesterday. I can see it outside my sewing room/office window, but no birds so far. How long does it take them to find a new feeder? I'm getting impatient for new entertainment! It's supposedly "squirrel proof", which I'm pretty sure doesn't exist in reality. Will keep you posted on that. Absolutely no idea what dinner will be. Most likely some of the sausage tart that is left. Do you prefer to entertain formally or do you like a causal-paper-plates-and-help-yourselves type of gathering? I'm a bit of a mix. While I love to set the table with nice plates and linens, I tend to serve family style. Paper plates are reserved for picnics and hurricanes around here. I always enjoyed entertaining when we were overseas and would have all kinds of theme parties (remember the murder mystery parties of the 80's?). When a holiday rolled around, I would invite all the single employees and contractors (usually left out of most functions) for a big dinner. Some great memories from those days. Other than hosting my card group once or twice a year, we don't entertain any longer. DD loves to cook and entertain and I can't wait until she has a larger apartment so I can pass along more of my entertaining items to her.

Entertaining stresses me out so I don’t often do it. If I do, it’s casual. I don’t even own China.
Tonight I’m making chili and cornbread.

Hello ladies, I don't entertain often, not in my comfort zone at all, but it's paper plate informal if I do.
Highlight of my day yesterday was seeing my first hummingbird. We have a hanger on the back porch and every year the hummingbirds will come back and circle that hanger and then I know it's time to put up the feeder. How do they know?! Nature is awesome.
I sent a couple students a flipgrid video this morning just asking them how they were and what they were reading and got several video responses back. My favorite was the Kindergarten student who told me, "I miss you Miss Carla, I'm not going to school right now."
I have an afternoon walk planned and then dinner will be the tacos we didn't have last night. DH just opted to snack last evening.
So very, very glad we have this bright spot to visit each day!!

Good morning ladies! It's a new month full of hope. I have to cling to hope. Hope has gotten me through some very hard times in life.
Tonight the last episode of Tournament of Champions is on Food Network and I am rooting for Amanda F to win. She was stripped of the Iron Chef title years ago. Awesome chef!!!
I will be fixing corned beef, baked or mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots. Yum!

As for entertaining, I have only had my parents over and I use my Fiestaware. I have 12 person fine China and my Grandma's 12pc set as well. But it just sits.

Dh must have been hungry for cauliflower when he went shopping because he came home with three large heads, four if you count the one on his shoulders , so I changed my menu and will be making a sausage sheet pan dinner and rice.

Good Morning lovely ladies!
I'm starting to find a new routine in being at home and not working.
When we entertain we prefer sit down meals, but not necessarily formal. When DH and I combined our household, I joked that we could have over 100 guests and all eat off of china and silver. We've weeded thru a lot of it, but still have more than the average household.
DH went to the ranch to check cattle today, I decided to stay home and sew and work on some projects. Dinner will be leftovers, or just something light for myself. I'm happy to be home and have the house to myself, but I am a little worried I'll get lonely, bored and waste a lot of time. I can always decide to drive to the ranch myself, but they are predicting a lot of rain the next few days and that isn't my favorite place when it's raining. He will likely be back on Friday or Saturday anyway.
Wishing everyone a healthy, relaxing day! I enjoy this post everyday!

Do you prefer to entertain formally or do you like a causal-paper-plates-and-help-yourselves type of gathering? Casual but with real plates and cutlery. We have enough to feed 50 which happens when a lamb is being roasted. For more than that, we will use a party supply service and just have to box up the dirty plates, etc., at the end of the day. DD will buy paper plates when she has a party. I doubt we will get our restrictions lifted before the end of May, despite what is being said now, and I think the US is behind us on its trajectory, so even longer. Germany's numbers are so impressive and they are definitely doing something right. he came home with three large heads, four if you count the one on his shoulders Ha, when I was getting a produce box delivered I accidentally ordered 4 cauliflower and 1 red pepper. My zoom yoga class is about to start and I haven't decided on dinner, so will be back later.

We have plenty of food and hand sanitizer in the house. Tonight for dinner I have ground beef which could be meat sauce or hamburgers. My dad keeps changing his mind. I don’t care because I don’t have to go shopping!!! That’s the best part.
I wish I had some fun news to share.

DS is sick, which worries me, since he’s at work every day and more exposed than the rest of us. At least he’s young, fit and healthy, but still....
Other than that we’re doing fine, I guess. Three weeks in (and if the current numbers here are to be trusted, the curve is flattening) and at least two more two go. DD had her dressage lesson today, which helped a bit (yes, even if we’re allowed outside, I still have a bit of cabin fever).
Dinner? Vegetable soup.

I have chicken wings marinating that I am going to cook in the air fryer. I have got to come up with something else because I don't have enough for three people and one of the three doesn't like eating chicken on the bone. Yep, that's a real thing!!
I have a grocery order to pick up tomorrow so that will give me some more options. You would think that as long as I have been a dinner tribe member that I would be better at planning and executing meals!
To answer yesterdays question...destined2bmom moose (when cooked correctly) tastes just like beef. No kidding!!!
**GypsyGirl** For me it usually just takes a couple days for the birds to find a new feeder. They should be there soon!!
As far as entertaining...I don't really like to do it but, I always do Thanksgiving and I do that formal-ish. Any other get together throughout the year is definitely casual but with real plates and silverware.

I did not make quiche last night, everyone wasn't really hungry. No problem, one less day for me to cook. I had a bagel with cream cheese!
Tonight may be that quiche.
For entertaining, I like to do it but I don't get much of a chance.
Love both of the memes today. Both fit me pretty good!
